The ""T Anthony's"" of Davis Square 3/15/2010

If you're in the Tufts/Davis Square area and craving cheap eats, definitely hit up Mike's. They have something for everybody - sandwiches, pizza, pasta, chicken wings, etc. I got the boneless buffalo wings when I went a few months ago, and they were pretty good. I usually stop here before hitting up Tufts parties for a quick slice and a water/soda. The staff is also pretty lenient about letting us use their bathroom, even if we didn't order anything. Pros: Good food, not too expensive Cons: Dive place more

Why does anyone like this place? 8/1/2007

I had received a gift certificate to Mike's from my real estate agent as a housewarming present, and the girl at the counter was a biyatch when I went to go use it. She said that if I purchased less food than the face value on the certificate I would forfeit the remainder (I insisted she must be wrong until she *finally* went to get the manager - who agreed with me.) And then the pizza and salad were barely mediocre. I ordered club soda and they charged me $5 for a bottle of Pellegrino. This place is a dive - what are they doing even serving Pellegrino? Anyway, I found absolutely nothing redeeming about my experience, so I guess I won't use the rest of my gift certificate after all. Pros: Location Cons: Service, food, ambience, prices... did I miss anything? more

Great cheap eats! 6/25/2006

Think of your sub shop favorites, now add a few more menu items like pasta dinners, pizzas, burgers, fresh salads, breakfast (eggs, home fries, the real deal), all varieties of deep fried fare (fries, onion rings, poppers, clam strips) and deserts (pies and cakes from a local pastry shop) to name a few and you have an idea of what to expect from Mike's Restaurant. The place is pretty large, minutes from the T (you can see it from the windows), squicky clean and serves up good simple food fast and cheaply. What more could you ask for from a local greasy spoon? Pros: Close to T, cheap Cons: Paying with CC sometimes takes a while because they only have one phone line more

Yummy! 1/17/2006

Mike's is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. The portions are huge - you leave fun and have enough left over for a big meal later. Everything I've tried has been tasty. Its a great place to go after a long day when you don't want to cook. The hardest part will be deciding what to order from the enormous menu. Its extra fun during baseball season when you can watch the Sox on their big tv. Pros: big portions, great food, relaxed environment more

Excellent food! 5/27/2005

The food is unbelievable! I eat there as often as I can. One of the employees, Maria, is extremely nice and polite. Highly recommended. more

problem with delivery and the food 5/13/2005

i never had a problem when i eat in the restaurant but when i had delivery it was terrible. i ordered a large extra cheese pizza half with pepperoni and the other half with onions and green peppers. well, the cheese all slid to one side so the peppers and onions were on top of the pepperoni and then the pizza was real soggy on one side because the oil from the pizza all went to side that the cheese slid to. i will never order pizza from there again. although we did get a large italian sub and it was pretty good. there was no reason for the pizza to be slid to one side unless the delivery man had the pizza tipped. you need to find a way to stabilize the pizza in the delivery car so that it doesn't slide to one side. more

Used to be great. 7/26/2004

I went to Mike's over a year ago and used to go quite often. Their platters was large and the place is fun. However recently they went to try to make more money apparently. Their portion sizes have almost halfed and most of the time I walk out ripped off. They do however show Red Sox games on a big screen for people to enjoy. The atmosphere is nice. However their prices haven't changed and often you may wonder what's wrong with the cook staff. I've gotten a couple hamburgers recently. One had a Kaiser roll which was good, but other times it was on a Hotdog roll and a French Bread roll. This really ruined the burger. Their fry size has been halfed recently. I can barely suggest it to people who are passing through but it is still good enough for people who live in Davis. Pros: Big Screen TV, Easy to find a table, Fast Cons: , Inconsistant portions more

Big Eaters will love this place!! 12/25/2002

I recently went to Mike's for dinner and was quite impressed by the food. I was satisfied with the service and the large portions of food served. You will definitely have leftovers, as I soon learned when my Fettucine Alfredo was handed to me. The place has a huge selection of food. A good place if you like a lot of food and aren't looking to spend too much money. Pros: Selection of food, Quantity of food, Service Cons: Crowded more
