Mike's Diner

The salad I ordered was missing some ingredients listed on the menu but had the ingredient that I specifically requested to be left out. After sending my husband home with the wrong pick up order and then yelling at me with accusations of misleading them to receive free food, they delivered the wrong size replacement salad.. I called them, once again, and the miserable female on the phone asked that I not waste their time. ALL I ASKED FOR WAS THE MEAL ORIGINALLY ORDERED. No matter the price! If we were charged less due to a mistake in the ordering process, then make an adjustment and correct the order. A customer doesn't want to hear your loud mouth excuses as to why or how the order got mixed up and we certainly don't want to be accused of tricking for free food! MIKE'S DINER, I appreciate the debit reimbursement. As per your request... it will be my pleasure to turn my business and money elsewhere! I used to go here with my girlfriend before i moved to Astoria. It was 24 hours, and at the time, there weren't any other 24 hour diners in the immediate area. It was sorta ok at best. Diner food, no one expects it to be perfect. Over time, it got progressively worse. Burnt eggs , really bad attitude from the servers, like you are wasting their time. Generally piss poor service. I moved into the area, and it kept getting worse. I went there with 2 friends and the server completely failed to put in one of the orders. So when he returned later with only two plates, it didn't even occur to him that he forgot. Just dropped off two plates and tried to walk away. I stopped him to ask about the other order and he acted surprised. Really? There was clearly 3 people sitting there. Then he finally put in the other order, and acted like it was nothing. No offer to comp at least some of the bill for his failure. Another time, me and my girlfriend went there early to catch the early breakfast specials. The place was almost empty.... i think there was one other table there, at most. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. From where we were sitting, we could see the cook chatting it up with some other staff..... not making our food. Another time, me and my girlfriend were sitting there, talking about some stuff that she was upset about..... just stuff about general stress of life..... certainly not a dispute between us. The server came over and had the audacity to say ""what did you do to her?!"". Are you kidding me?! On the phone, they are always pushy and rude. I can't believe this place is still in business. Now there is an other 24 hour place called TASTY'S just around the corner, about 2 blocks away. The food isn't amazing there either, but at least it meets regular diner standards and the staff and management aren't complete idiots. There are no plenty of other choices that have recently opened in the last year or so....... pick any one and don't waste your money at Mike's Diner. more

this is probably the most expensive diner in the world. A total rip off. The food is average at best. They are total a$$holes. But it's open 24 hours and delivers 24 hours, SO, what are you going to do. Pros: open all night/delivers all night Cons: just blows more

I just got home from Mike's diner and since the manager didn't care about my complaint I figured I would share it with the world. LOL> I never got 2 of the things I ordered but I was charged for them. I asked for Honey mustard for my fries three times and never got it. My friend' salad was disgusting because when he ordered the ceasar they forgot the dressing and when he asked for dressing it was drown in dressing. Customer service is horrible. When I told the manager about the service and missing food she said, ""Don't tip him, he'll learn his lesson. "" What kind of answer is that ? I hope you guys make it through this economic crisis. It seems that customer service should be top notch in these times so that you get repeat business. more

i order from this place all the time and they are inconsistent with their dishes. somethings there is very little food in the order or the food is cold. and other times it is great food, especially their chicken salad sandwiches.crappy customer service over the phone, even to the point of being extremely rude. plus i ordered a soda with my order the other night and never received and when i called to let them know that they had forgotten my soda (i was nice about it too) they accused me of lying. then they finally said that they would send it over but i am still waiting. i think i will not be ordering from them for a while so that they might learn some customer service. they will miss my ordering since my roommate and i order from there at least once a week. anyway good food if you want to go sit down there but i dont recommend for ordering out. We were seated right away. Waiters were friendly and efficient. That first cup of coffee was exactly what I needed and the Mexican omelet was perfect. I disagree with some of the reviews, I received excellent table service. The decor was another story but it is a diner and that's part of the charm. I would definitely recommend Mike?s Diner for an inexpensive no nonsense breakfast/brunch. Pros: Casual Cons: None as long as your not looking for something fancy more

Waiting for a table wasn't too bad. We were seated within 20 minutes. Service was horrible. We had a waitor who rushed our orders. He didn't even ask for our drink choices. Feeling pressured to order i chose a grilled chicken wrap. Food came pretty quickly but not that great. My grilled chicken sandwich was supposed to include coleslaw and a pickle, but for some unkown reason came with only the wrap. What was worse was that I found a hair in my chicken wrap. At that moment I was disgusted and knew that I wouldn't return. Our original waitor hadn't come back after delivering our food, so we consulted another waitor. He was younger and much more polite and calm. He actually was nice enough to not include the price of the chicken wrap. Overall experience.... horrible! more

Hey, if you're in the neighborhood and you are absolutely starving, then walk over to the Neptune Diner on 24th Ave. If you need delivery, you'll have to call on Mike's. Pros: well lit Cons: poor service, food, price, and TOD more

I went in on a Sunday morning with a friend, on the recommendation that the carry-out food was good. We tried to get the waiter's attention after sitting for 20 minutes. He gave us dirty looks before finally coming over and saying ""yeah?"" The food ended up being good, but not enough to offset not getting our toast, never getting drink refills and having the waiter act rude toward us. When we asked to speak to a manager, he didn't seem to care that we were unhappy. So we sat another 10 minutes before getting our bill and paying for food we didn't get. This place isn't good. The service is terrible, the cooks are lazy and not very good, and nobody seems to care because the locals get A-1 treatment. Pros: Prices are okay. Cons: Everything else more

mikes diner is one of the oldest diners(1928).....well over the years with the so much competion around is getting better and better every day.....service is much better and very friendly......its like they know you for years, food change for the far better and delivery is faster...way to go. they are open 24/7 with 24/7 free delivery- do i love that- well try them and you will see......thanks Pros: very convient to everything Cons: needs a little face lift more

Mike's Diner is the best 24 hour diner in the area because it is the only one! The other diners nearby close early and this place seems to be only option at times.
