Best

Solid diner breakfast. Nothing special but nothing is wrong. Waitress' are very nice. A definite breakfast place for hipsters and guys.

Center City's best diner waitstaff 3/19/2006

I'm a sucker for a good diner. The food at the Midtown is the best diner food we've found in Center City, but it's your usual diner fare so it's not high class, obviously. In fact, the desserts should probably be avoided unless you're having the jello or the ice cream (their milkshakes are excellent). They make their soup fresh daily, and I've yet to find one that wasn't really good. But the waitresses--what a great bunch! They see dozens of people every day, but I can go in there, and somehow, they remember me and make me feel welcome. I love the waitresses there because they're friendly, helpful, and they're real. A great place to go alone or with friends any time of day or night. more

foods and people are horrible. better off at little petes 9/14/2005

this place really is horrible. the people and the food look like they came from another planet. if you are in the mood for diner food (dont ask me why) you are better off at Little Petes on 17th between Locust and Walnut. Avoid any meat products or deserts. The place is usually packed with drunks and people who havent showered in weeks. Make sure you double check your order, as I have had things messed up before and they wont remake the food more

Broad Menu, Open All Night, but Not Clean 8/15/2005

I've eaten several times at the Midtown IV in West Center City for breakfast with reasonable results so I thought nothing of going to Midtown III with a friend after leaving a bar one evening. The menu and the atmosphere were similar to the other Midtown - wide selection, cheap prices, open all night, diner-style food, like a Denny's in feel but with some local color in the form of scrapple and pork rolls. I ordered the rice pudding and my friend ordered eggs on toast. The service was reasonable if not particularly fast or friendly and the other patrons appeared to also be on the just-left-the-bar variety (it was close to 2 am). However, to my horror, midway through my rice pudding I notice a dead fly in the middle of my food. Shortly thereafter, my friend finds a hair, clearly not her own, in her eggs. The food is neither bad nor expensive but I will never go back again because fundamentally the place and the food aren't clean. more
