Rude Awful Service 4/28/2012

Awful place. The receptionist is rude, Amanda I believe her name is, and they do procedures without talking to you. Went in there to have my cat looked at because she had an abscess on her lip/face. Came in at 8:45am and they told me there was no one that could look at her right now and to just leave her there and come back at 10:00am when my dog had an appointment. I come back at 10 with my dog and when it comes time to pay its over $500. Apparently they had drained the abscess without discussing it with me first, charged me a boarding fee, and an emergency fee all without telling me the fees I would be paying up front. When I talked to the receptionist about how ridiculous the 'boarding fee' and 'emergency fee' was she got really rude with me. Started saying how most of their customers care more about their animals than they do money! Honestly I am taken aback with how rude that comment was because who would, in this economy, act like money isn't a big deal. Eventually after arguing more

Honestly I am taken aback with how rude that comment was because who would, in this economy, act like money isn't a big deal. Eventually after arguing with the receptionist that they have to tell you before they do anything with your animal she said ""That is it! I'm going to tell the doctor to refuse to see you anymore!"" They also seem to want to do unnecessary procedures just to make more money. In short, they are rude and do not notify you when they are going to do procedures. Will never come back again. I recommend you do not either. more

Kind, Open, and Honest Care For Your Pets 6/17/2010

I really can't say enough about the staff and vets at Midtown Animal Hospital, they've helped me lovingly care for my pets for 10 years! Craig is an extremely open and sympathetic person in understanding the real limitations that everyone has when it comes to time and money that they can invest into their animals, without adding guilt or unnecessary expectations that few can exceed. He's knowledgeable and caring about a variety of different pets including exotics, and has allowed me as much input into my pets care as reasonably possible. Everyone at Midtown Animal Hospital are openly dedicated to providing the best care for your pets as possible and while some people might find it a little harsh that the staff might remind you when you are doing something wrong (incorrect training methods, improper use of medications, etc), If you talk to these men and women you will know that their utmost focus is on how best they can facilitate you and them being the best caregivers to animals as you and they can be. I love Midtown! Pros: location, service, expertise of vet care Cons: I now live in Carmichael ;) more

best expierence 6/7/2010

I have always had the best expierence with Midtown Animal Hospital! Once my cat had gotten the string from his play toy tied so tightly around his toes that I couldn't get it undone. He was in great distress. When I took him in they rushed him right in to the vet and removed the string, and didn't even charge me! I will always take my pets to Midtown! more

I just moved from out of state and have never experienced better care for my dog. She has Cushing's Syndrome and they quickly discovered that she had developed Addison's Disease due to overmedication from my previous vet. They went to the effort of calling me the first weekend to inquire about the results of the new medication. Although they are 25 miles away I will use them every time. Absolutely the perfect care for an older ill dog. more

Never ask me how my pet is doing 3/5/2010

Sad they have never been personal with me about my pet. Never ask me how by pets doing in 15yrs. They might as well be selling copy machines! I The service has been ok over the years, but they have always lacked that personal vet clinic to person/pet relationship. more

I brought my old lady in, who was experiencing troubled breathing, and fainting episodes. Dr. Dinger saw us, and went through a series of tests, and took the time to explain everything to me. He made a referral to a great cardiologist, and now I can honestly say her quality of life has increased ten fold. \r \r I will be honest, it has cost me quite a bit, but it really is worth it when my dog no longer has to wake up in the middle of the night because she can't breathe, and that she can actually enjoy a walk longer than 10 minutes long without difficulty. more

Midtown Animal Hospital is FABULOUS! 9/1/2009

Fabulous all around... everyone here has a great attitude... and they always provide great care for my cats. I would highly recommend them to anyone!\r \r Not everyone is going to be happy all the time, so check it out for yourself instead of basing your opinions on the negative reviews below, it might be a good fit for you but not them... those things happen. more

Wonderful Vet in all of Sacramento 3/19/2009

I was referred by a friend that took her dog Kaymen here. I had to come in with my friend and Kaymen because she had injured herself while I was watching her. They were so sweet and took such good care of her. 6 mo+ later when I adopted a kitty I established care with them. Then I adopted one more kitty and now take both of my cats to them. The wait may be a little lengthy on the phone but it is a result of having their undivided attn. They are compassionate and extremely kind. I love taking my cats here because I know I receive the reassurance and empathy from them as well as great care for my animals. more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! 1/27/2009

I first brought my adopted dog there just because they were close to my home & have been pleasantly surprised by how caring & inexpensive their veterinary services are. If you love your pet & are on a budget, this is the perfect place. They also do Saturday appt's that makes it very convenient for people that work during the week. more

Friendly, helpful, good experience every time 12/8/2008

I started going to Midtown Animal Hospital after a poor experience at another hospital. I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful every time I've gone in. Dr. Dinger has been fantastic to work with and does a great job of explaining and answering questions. more

Surly, Rude and Arrogant 11/1/2008

I'm new to town and decided to try Midtown Animal Hospital in spite of some of the negative comments here because they were close to my house and after all there are some very positive things said here too. However, although I will concede that I arrived 10 minutes late on a very rainy and wet Saturday for my four year old Yellow Lab's annual check-up and boosters (my watch showed I was right on-time but that?s not at all the point here). But after the elder receptionist huffily embarked upon a scheduling consultation with someone I assume to be the actual Vet, I was told in no uncertain terms that I'd have to reschedule. I would have politely accepted being politely told that the Dr. would have to fit me in as soon as he/she could given that I was a whole 10 minutes late?but the entire tone smacked of arrogant, childish retribution and after seeing the tiny, cramped and rather filthy waiting area first hand I quickly opted to look for another Vet. VCA Westside Animal Hospital took me the very same day, was very friendly, accommodating, professional and thorough and after I thought about it a bit more I realized that if Midtown Animal Hospital couldn't accommodate a minor scheduling issue I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to rely on them in an emergency! Pros: Convenient Midtown Location Cons: Very Poor Attitude/Customer Service, Apparently Very Easily Rattled more

Recommend them highly-a customer for 8 years! 8/25/2008

Nothing but praise for Midtown Animal Hospital. The receptionist's are wonderful-individual attention, learn to know your face and your animals, and genuinely care about pets. One of the receptionist even drove a prescription out to my house for me on her way home! The vets are experienced, careful, and take the time to make sure they answer every question. Rates are very fair, and they have even allowed me to make payments on expensive operations. I trust them all to take care of all my pets as well as the animals I care for at my work. Moved out to Carmichael and still make the trek to be sure I get quality, personalized service from people who love pets and are dedicated to making sure yours are well cared for. more

Very happy with them 8/19/2008

Have had them as primary vets for four years. Have two cats, one with a serious chronic health condition. Very caring, loving staff. Reception can be a challenge if they are very busy because they pay a lot of individual attention to each client and go out of their way for you, including same day emergency appointments (I'd rather they took good care of my cats, then me. Afterall, they are a vet clinic, not a people clinic.) They have inexpensive rates, but are not "cheap". They don't suggest a lot of expensive extras. They are pretty no-frills. Moved out of Sac up to Folsom and still make the trip down to Midtown because they are great. They know me, my cats, and seem to generally care. more

They love your pets as much as you do! 8/11/2008

After years at a different vet, who never seemed to care about my pets as much as I did, I left them and headed to Midtown Animal Hospital. I wish I had when my pets were younger! They are so kind and loving, and completely understand that these are our ""kids."" I recently had to put my dog of 14 years to sleep, and they could not have been more compassionate and understanding, giving me all the time I needed to say goodbye to my buddy. They also understand that we want the best for our pets, and accommodate for financial issues without any judgment. If you are looking to have people care for your pets just as you do, this is by far the best place to take them!!! Pros: Compassionate and friendly, easy location. Cons: None. more

Compassionate care for both pet and pet "parents" 8/7/2008

Unfortunately, we had to put my 17 year old kitty down recently. She had been seen at this hospital a couple of times and the care she received was always good. The staff was very kind and compassionate from the moment I made the appointment to put her to sleep. When we came in that day, we were shortly escorted to a quiet room. The vet and cet's assistant were very, very kind and allowed us all of the time we needed for our private goodbyes. My kitty's passing was quiet, seemed painless and she went with dignity and grace. It made a very difficult time a little bit easier to deal with. Much to my surprise we later received a condolence card from the vet. I would recommend this place to any one. more

Great Care! 7/28/2008

We took our dog here for 15 years and they were very caring especially when she got to the "old dog" stage. The vets, techs and counter people have always been friendly, even for those "must get in today" situations. There are many vets in Sacramento and this is the place we choose to go! more

Ugly Location, Rude Receptionist 7/23/2008

I feel better after reading the other reviews. I was hoping to find a vet hospital that was less expensive than my one in Davis, so I decided to try this place. Their prices seemed more in line with my budget. My small dog needed his annual booster and a rabies vaccine. When I showed up for my appointment, the receptionist couldn't have been more rude. I told her who I was and she promptly told me to sit down, and she would be with me when she could. No greeting, no smile, but plenty of attitude. If I'm patronizing a business, I expect to be greeted, and treated nicely. After all, I'm paying them. The tech seemed sedated, and she looked rough. I never felt welcomed there, and I almost walked out before ever seeing the vet, who was very talkative, but in a nice way. And don't you hate it when you say thank-you, but they never say it back? I'm going back to my high-priced vet in Davis, at least they're nice there. more

Excellent service 5/20/2008

I was provided excellent service from the front counter help, the assisants and the vet. They were very compassionate about my animal, friendly, thorough and costs were very reasonable! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more
