Rip off central. Went in for a simple weld / pipe replacement job for my exhaust. For some reason, the mechanic took my car out for a six minute 'road test'. After looking at my problem, told me that the resonator which broke off was actually my muffler (I guess he did not know what a muffler was) and he could not weld it back on. First quoted me $167 for a new can muffler, and after waiting an hour for an estimate, I get an estimate of nearly $600, in which the clerk has the guts to say "I trimmed some parts to save you some money.".
For giggles, took it to another Midas where the clerks actually knew the difference between a resonator and a muffler. Instead of taking my car for a 'road test', they replaced one pipe and did the weld job for under $80 without blinking.
Either the 'mechanics' at Midas of Butler did not want to do the job or know how to do the job. It's a shame to think that a lot of people probably think Midas is a horrible company due to their Butler location.
