Old time dining car with about 6 booths and a number of stools at the counter. All day menu of breakfast, burgers, etc. Typical diner fare. We visited during the Winter Carnival, ...

Customer since @ 1960 3/20/2012

I was there the day they named the Sputnick! A great burger invented the day the Sputnick went up. My personal favorite is the Obrian. The Mulligan stew is great too! They attract a wide variety of clientel from street people to judges. The people watching is almost as good as the food. more

RUDE Cook and Waitess! and...D I R T YYYY! 2/5/2011

I have been to M Diner before and thought maybe they had an off day but after giving them 3 chances My entire family is fed up with the place. We won't ever go again! Do yourself a favor don't look around to closely because you will then notice how filthy it truly is and you will want to run away right then! lol second don't go if you want to be treated like a paying customer because you won't be, you'll be treated like an old hated uncle. We got there and had to wait about 15 min to get some stools to sit at, no biggie, then when they opened up the cook tells us to not sit untell the counter is wiped down, dont have a problem with that so we waited and he did nothing, the waitress did nothing and we waited some more so finally being sick of waiting we sat anyways to get out of the way and we did not touch the counter at all and I made sure we didnt and then the cook makes a rude comment "" guess it dont need to be wiped then!"" I have been seated at a ton of tables while they where cleared, whats the big deal !?!? then the waitress got mad because we didnt know what we wanted yet because the menus where JUST given to us!! GEEZ! if you can't handle working in the food/service industry then GET OUT of it!! dont treat your customers like crap! more

A case in which people who are blinded by money and greed 3/1/2010

mickeys dimer is now in the hands people so vile , cold and heartless a perfect example of what is wrong with the world today more

Worse place to work 10/25/2008

I worked for Mickeys off and on...why off and on you say! Well between the vagrents begging for money and cigs and dealers trying to sell you something and the management being okay with this action it was too hard to work there. I find that the owner doesn't care about cleanliness and that is a dead ringer for someone to get sick. There is grease dripping from the light fixtures onto the countertops. Ummm that can get into someones food!!! Not too good you guys! Just because I told the owners son (who couldn't keep his own restaurant going), to take the job and shove it I am no longer even welcome as a customer! That's no skin off my nose!!! I have better places to spend my dollar! They have some really messed up thinking! Pros: good recipes...and a couple good cooks Cons: rude waitresses (unless they know you)! more

The classic greasy-spoon dive. 4/23/2008

I had the ""$200 burger"" at Mickey's. I call it the $200 burger because it was worth the 5 hour drive from central ND just to eat it. That's how good it was! Yeah, it's a greasy spoon, but the atmosphere of the place is what really makes it worth the visit. DEFINITELY not for the calorie conscious (I saw Mickey put in a cup of butter for a 3-egg omelet) but it more than makes up for it in taste and portion size. I didn't even mind the 40 minute wait to get seated. I will definitely visit this place again and again each time I visit the cities. more

Not what I expected!!! 4/18/2008

Have wanted to go there for years. Not what I expected!! The waitress was VERY rude. I asked if I could use the restroom. She said no. She must have seen the look on my face, and said did you think I was serious? I nodded, and she said ""what a loser."" Then continued with a ""Jesus Christ!"" I was very offended. I also thought that the place was filthy. My coat got full of grease stains from the booth. I had to throw it away. And I thought it was expensive. But one positive thing, the food was good!! Never again. Pros: Good food Cons: Waitress sucked! Expensive, and filthy. more

HUGE Omelettes! 3/7/2008

this place is great! cheap eats and huge portions. the only thing thats a downfall is the omelette was a little greasy... aka. a small puddle on the plate. great service! Pros: food, service Cons: greasy more

It's everything you want in a gresy spoon 8/27/2007

Sit at the bar or one of the four booths. The service, and food are always great. I have been treated the same in the morning, noon, and late late night. The potatoes O' Brian are not to be missed. The coffee is dinner coffee, but drinkable. I have not tried the lunch/ dinner selections, but the Breakfast stuff is good all down the line. Pros: open all night, people watching, service Cons: 4 booths at peek times always a wait. more

Everybody needs to go to Mickey's before they die!!! 11/12/2006

Seriously! This place is an institution and the absolute best after-bar breakfast in this town! Make sure you go during the night shift so that you can see the best cook in the area prepare up to 20 orders at a time berore your eyes....my friends and I like to call him The Professional because he not only cooks, he also entertains, cracks jokes, and pokes fun at the drunks eating there. Not to be missed. Pros: Cool staff, friendly patrons Cons: You clothes/hair will smell like grease after you leave more

Great old time diner, fantastic food! 7/3/2006

You can't beat Mickey's for taking you back about 60 years. I don't think this diner has changed at all. It serves 24/7/365. The food was great (we went for breakfast), you have to get the Potatoes O'Brien, they are by far some of the best I have had. The staff is friendly but has a bit of a chip on their shouldar, but that is part of the charm. The only thing I didn't like was it seemed dirty. My dishware was not but I guess you can't ever really get 60 years of smoke and grease out of a place. I got past it, and I reccommend you doing so as well. It is well worth it! Pros: Service, setting, food! Cons: 60 years of smoke and grease more

Check your attitude at the door... 6/12/2006

If you want a five star restaurant, go somewhere else. Mickey's doesn't pretend to be something it is not. I have been going here regularly for years, and I can't think of any other place I would want to be at 1 or 2am on a weekend. Every waiter and waitress I have come across have been nothing but nice and helpful. In fact, since I have become a regular, they know my name, my order (which NEVER changes), how my job is going, etc. This restaurant, if gone to at the right time, is a home away from home.\r \r Yes, the food is greasy, but I have never tasted hashbrowns like these before. They are crispy, and you can actually taste the potatoes! The mulligan stew is warm and comforting, with large chunks of meat and veggies in a thick, beefy broth. Mickey's is a unique experience, and is a one of a kind landmark that my friends and I will continue to be patrons of for years to come! Pros: The Classic, parking, SERVICE!!! Cons: Not good for large groups! more

mmm....fresh apple pie 1/10/2006

I went to Mickey's for the first time at 3 am. There were a few regulars there, and plenty of seating. The waitress was friendly and the prices were great, especially for a college student on a budget. The highlight of meal was the fresh apple pie, hot from the oven at 3 in the morning. It was amazing. The greasy spoon feel reminds me of a small town diner from home. This is one of my new favorite places! more

Mickey's Diner is #1 8/21/2004

Awesome breakfast !! Hashbrowns are to die for !! We will for sure be going back to try more of the menu. If you are looking for a greasy spoon kind of diner, MICKEY'S DINER is the one. :) Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, quick service more

Take a pepcid before you go 3/23/2004

A fantastically unique establishment where people of all types congregate for food. Mickey's is ecclectic enough to have been the set for a scene from Jingle all the way. I seriously doubt Arnold actually ate the food. Grease thy names is Mickey's Diner. I think the oil they use on the hash browns is soaked in oil before they use it. Everything here is tasty, but greasy. Don't come here expecting anything resembling health food. Service was adequate, but they staff acted as if they were too busy to serve me my food. Perhaps they were just overly busy with lunch rush. If you approace Mickey's with the proper mind set, you will not be let down. Pros: tasty food, unique decor Cons: , crowded more

Cheap Eats, but lousy service. 1/26/2004

Old time dining car with about 6 booths and a number of stools at the counter. All day menu of breakfast, burgers, etc. Typical diner fare. We visited during the Winter Carnival, so perhaps that is the reason the service was horrible. There was one waitress, two cooks and two kitchen crew for the whole restaurant. Everyone seemed to be able to handle the load except the waitress. It seemed like she could manage no more than one task at a time. Our beverages were not even refilled, and the waitress apologized to others paying their bill that she forgot their beverages altogether. Burgers were very good. I really wanted their mulligan stew, but they were out of that. Probably a great place to stop if youve one too many and wish some time to sober up. Not worth a return trip. Pros: Cheap Eats, Unique Atmosphere Cons: Slow Service, Little Parking, Not for infants more

mickeys fan 2/7/2003

I would highly agree, the food is good and cheap. It is such a cool little, vibrant building Pros: cheap, old fasioned theme, !!good!! food Cons: somewhat smokey more

it's a classic 2/7/2003

This is a good place for 'comfort food' - the problem is that you have to go to St Paul to get it. If only E.R. were filmed in the nearby hospital - it might be worth the trip... more

YAY! 1/22/2003

Not exactly a paradise for veggie/vegans but if you're not... prepare for a cheap (but excellent), greasy burger, fries and a shake after that show you just left at 1 AM. Last of the true greasy spoon diners... thank you Mickeys, for being there for us! The jukeboxes at the tables don't quite compare to the Triple Rock's but hey- you can't go wrong with Roger Miller. Pros: Cheap!, Service great! more

Grease 10/28/2002

Your average greezeeee food diner. Fun to eat somewhere ""stars"" have been. Neat area. Decent burgers. Pros: area Cons: dirty more

Wow, not bad! 10/12/2002

You may remember this place as ""that restaurant from the Mighty Ducks"" but it really is a good place to eat! Late, or early, Mickeys has good food, good prices, and a good staff to serve. 27X7, you'll be in heaven! Pros: Inexpensive more
