Best

I personal think that Michael's a good place to shop for anything craft related, but as far as their staff and customer service it lacks a great deal. You would think in this day ...

Worst

I do a lot of crafts like scrapbooking, knitting and also paint and this store has a decent selection of items. However one has to know where to find the items as its hard to find...

Shop at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby. 2/3/2011

Don't hate the employees and the lack of service you are finding. It's not the employees that are to blame, it's the corporate office and the impossible policies they put into place. I'm a former Manager and saw a lot of what was going on and it made me sick. All the employees with the exception of the Managers we're demoted to part time with no benefits and at best receive 5, 10 and 15 cent annual increases to cover inflation. I ran a very successful frame shop and was pushed by the DM,GM and AGM to increase sales, push harder and sell expensive frame elements even though the customer didn't want them. It's all about the dollar and unethical. The stores are given a small ration of hours and pages or duties and tasks per week to have complete or suffer the further cut of their average 10-15 hours per week, Michael's was sold to an investment company that only wants figures and not care about the workers or you the customer (in my opinion of course). So next time you go into the store r more

Don't take it out on the employees... 6/10/2010

Take it from someone who works there; if you feel like the staff is being rude, it's because they're stretched so thin that they can't handle another task and they're not even being paid enough to buy something to eat in their 30 minute lunch in the breakroom that doesn't have air conditioning. When sales are deemed "low" for a store, that store's weekly hours are cut, and thus fewer employees are left with the same amount of responsibilities that were intended for more workers. No raise, no reward, just complaints from managers and customers alike. It's hard to be too concerned about helping a customer with a purchase that amounts to more money than the employee makes for an 8 hour day, especially when helping that customer means you're going to get behind on your tasks for that day and as a consequence probably won't get any hours the next week.\r \r Now you have perceptive from a worker. So the next time you're frustrated at Michaels, please don't take it out on the overworked and und more

MICHAELS SUCKS!!!!!! 1/18/2010

I personal think that Michael's a good place to shop for anything craft related, but as far as their staff and customer service it lacks a great deal. You would think in this day and age that every person you came in contact with would praise the ground that you walked on. The money I spend at their store pays their bills!!! I personally work in customer service and think this is very important in my job to smile even when you want to scream and remember that in this economy that we all live in right now I am so very thankful to even have a job. I will not give another cent to the company of Michael's and will gladly take my well earned money somewhere else that will smile at me when I enter there store and thank me when I leave and most definitely not act as if they are doing me a favor. My main point is MICHAELS SUCKS!!!!!! more

Michael's 9/11/2009

Michael's is a great store to find anything you need for crafts. However, I do agree with some of the other people rating this store. The staff is either very friendly or very miserable looking. I also work retail and I'm positive they hire newbies at minimum wage and train them badly. It is NOT always the fault of the employee that he/she is not performing to standards, but the company itself for treating them like crap yet expecting the best customer service out of them. Oh and to Anonymous(and everyone else): You've most likely supported inhumane treatment of people because it turns out most of the things you buy almost anywhere are from those kinds of places - sweatshops. more

Michael's Sucks! 12/2/2007

Michael's is a horrible corporation for the way it treats its employees, and I will not spend one thin dime there if I can help it. Michael's hires the desperate at slave wages, then trains them quickly and poorly. That is why some of you call the help "terrible" -it's Michael's fault! For example, the so-called "training" in the framing department takes place in a few days, and it does not meet standards recognized by "PFA" or "CPFA" - both nationally recognized framing organizations to which any real "professional" picture framers belong. I would not trust your framing to Michael's. But aside from all that, Michael's is just a terrible place for anyone to work. That is why they are always advertising for people. I won't support a place that treats people less than human. more

Great stock. Dreadful staff. 2/27/2007

This is a 5-star store in terms of the supplies they sell. You will find just about anything you need for any crafting activity. However, the staff is just terrible. I suspect Michaels must pay as little as they can get away with, because the turnover is huge -- I go there about once a month, and I don't think I've ever had the same checkout clerk twice -- and the staff is generally very young, clearly inexperienced, not terribly friendly, and uniformly incompetent. Lines are long and verrrry sloooow. I love shopping at Michaels, until the moment that I need help or need to check out -- then I remember why I hate going there. more

Very good selection 12/8/2006

Michael's recently remodeled and their selection has vastly improved. They now have three lanes dedicated to beading, as well as a large yarn selection, framing, and many other craft items. The lines can be long, but the staff are pleasant and you can get 40% off coupons if you check your local paper. more

Michales 10/14/2006

I work at a preschool and I love to shop here to get inexpensive art and craft projects for my students. They often have great sale and I always find what I need. more

Micheals 10/13/2006

I go to Micheals at least once a month to buy projects for my daughter to do with my mom. I really like the 99cents ones that they carry for the holidays. more

One stop shop! 10/9/2006

This is a place to find everything! Seasonal decorations, kids crafts, adult crafts and of course SCRAPBOOKING SUPPLIES. You can't go wrong with Michael's. more

Great craft store 10/4/2006

I love going to Michael's. They have all kinds of craft supplies that you can't get many places around here. From stamps to artificial flowers, to crafy paints to holiday decorations, they have it all! PROS: Cute project ideas, classes for kids CONS: more

great store 10/4/2006

This is where I go to buy all my christmas wrapping and decorations. They have the cheapest prices on everything that you need to make your home a winter wonderland. The Staff is awesome . more

lots of craft supplies 10/1/2006

Thisis the place to go for all your craft supply needs. They carry just about every craft supply. Do not go on a Sunday, they tend to get very crowded. They do not have the best staff, they can be a little slow and not always very nice. more

Need Project Supplies? 8/3/2005

I've been looking all over for iron-on paper (where you can iron on images, words, whatever onto clothes), and I couldn't find it ANYWHERE until I went to Michaels. They have SO many fun aisles, and you can stay there forever if you don't keep track of time. If you DO find a salesperson (they're usually always at the front), they're pretty nice and are glad to help you (if that doesn't involve moving from the front ;)...great place for school projects too. more

Neat store full of all kinds of crafty gear. 6/24/2005

I went to Michaels in search of nylon twine. Nylon twine I did not find, but otherwise, the visit stimulated many creative ideas. There are aisles full of nothing but special papers, or yarns, or crayons. It is amazing the assortment of crafts-oriented goods there are at Michaels. PROS: Neat collection of crafts-oriented products. CONS: more

Good selection but poor service 5/16/2005

I do a lot of crafts like scrapbooking, knitting and also paint and this store has a decent selection of items. However one has to know where to find the items as its hard to find someone at the store to help you. Another problem is that they usually have one counter open with a limitless line of customers. Returning is a pain too. The staff has no clue about which item, would give a different price and you need to make sure that the price you got is what you paid for. Overall, they can definitely improve their service. I usually go to JoAnn fabrics and Aaron brothers for things that are available in both stores. more
