DON""T SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO MESA VISTA. In the 2 weeks my aunt was there I received numerous phone calls from my aunt for help because the staff would not respond to her calls using the red button. I had to literally go to the nursing home or call the main number so that she could get help and numerous time they were rough in handling her as she as a fractured back, after we complained on deaf ears they accused my Mexican American elderly aunt and former inner city teacher of being a racist against blacks. Half the staff are black. My aunt was deeply offended by this accusation. The last straw was the stench of sewage coming from her room the Director of Nursing acknowledge it but did nothing about it. I finally had to take her out and she is very pleased with Huebner Creek, and no I do not work at Huebner Creek or have any vested interest in it. BTW after numerous calls to the Mesa Vista Administration, no one called any of our family members back. I am in the process of making a formal complaint to Dept of Aging. more

I am looking for a Skilled Nursing Facility to recover from a colon and need to improve my strength problem. \r There are 144 beds here and only a few reviews. Either Citysearch isn't doing a good job of getting people at this place to make comments or they don't care one way or another about Mesa Vista Inn Health Center. more

I agree with txrosebud08. My mother also has Alzheimer's and they take excellent care of her. The facility is also in top notch shape. You don't have the medicinal smell that some nursing homes have. The staff is caring and supportive and they have lots of opportunities for the residents to participate in activities. I highly recommend Mesa Vista Inn. more

Thank you Mesa Vista Inn, you brought my mom back to me, by caring for her needs and nursing her back to health, with restorative measures and genuine care and concern for her!\r \r My mom has dementia and will never recover.\r \r She was at another nursing home since 2010 and was not being cared for, nor fed properly, and would constantly get UTI's (urinary tract infections) mainly because, she was not being offered hydration. \r The leadership there was poor.\r To me dementia/alzheimers is ""this"" century's disease. There are alot of nursing homes that don't have a clue about how to care for dementia/alzheimers patients, but Mesa Vista does! They are well informed and well trained in this area!\r The nursing home staff, at the ""other"" facility my mother was at in the 09 zip code of San Antonio was clueless about dementia and the behavior of people who have it. \r You can put water, food, etc. in front of people who have dementia, but they won't necessarily feed or hydrate themselves, which will result in dehydration/ malnutrition, and eventually hospitalization and and even death. My mother was hospitalized with those very issues and was near death twice. I am so very sorry that I left her there that long, I trusted the wrong people not realizing that the ""09"" nursing staff/leadership/social worker were all substandard. They almost killed my mom, who is 91.\r My mom would be given disgusting food, that I would not feed to my dog. \r \r Finding Mesa Vista was the best thing that ever happened to my family. She is being well taken care of. The food is delicious, even pureed. Because I tasted it. They have health snacks, bedside water receptacles. They are clean. They have activities that ""everyone"" can participate in. They find a way to give medication to patients, instead of giving up and not trying.\r I can't imagine what others have written on here! \r Trust me, Mesa Vista is amazing!\r \r No one wants to be in a nursing home when it's their time, \r but I guarantee that Mesa Vista is wonderful! Go check it out, you will see!\r \r Thanks again, everyone at Mesa Vista Inn. I can sleep peacefully at night knowing that my mom is being well taken care of!!!! more

I had my mother is this facility from 1/2012-3/2012 for rehab after she broke her hip. They did a great job with her. Unfortunately, I moved her for four months to an assisted living facility that did not care for her like they did at Mesa Vista. I moved my mother back there in August of this year. I have been happy with the care and also how staff appropriately and quickly address concerns. I would recommend Mesa Vista to anyone that needs long term care for their loved one. more

Wonderful facility! Staff goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and recovery of patients. My 95 year old mother was at times uncooperative, but the staff continued to work with her and managed to secure her cooperation which enhanced her recuperation. If she should require skilled nursing care in the future, I will definitely bring her back to Mesa Vista Inn. more

Sorry No Physical Therapy Today, The PT Person Is Out Today. 5/28/2011

A skilled Nursing Facility is one step above a ""Nursing Home."" Skilled Nursing offeres Physical Therapy, Nursing home residents are not offered that opportunity.. Now, When PT informs you that your not going to receive PT for that day because the therapist called in sick, how do they get away with that?? If a bus driver calls in sick, do you take a cab to work? Maybe not go to work that day... No, they find a replacemnet...Mesa Vista PT program puts you on hold for the ""Next Day..."" PT can't get with the program, but you are limited with the amount of time you can spend at Mesa Vista due to limitations outlined by Medicare.. These people are Licensed Professionals thru the State of Texas.. There are many care facilities in the San Antonio area.. Do not let a case worker snow you with words like, ""your loved one has been accepted into the Mesa Vista program, with no out of pocket cost to you.."" ""We will arrange for all transportation without any cost to you.."" You have other options, there are other Skilled Nursing facilities in the San Antonio area....If Mesa Vista is a faclity that works well for you, I suggest that you tour the facility during the morning, noon and evening hours.. Once you see the facility at offset times, you will be able to determine if Mesa Vista Inn is the right place for your loved one......If you care about your loved one, do your research!!!!!!! more

THANK YOU MESA VISTA !!!! 2/10/2011

We are so thankful to have found Mesa Vista to care for our Dad. We feel he was cared for as if he were a member of their family. Usually there are one or two outstanding staff members that really stand out, but....\r there are so many in all departments: Connie, Joe, Frank, Douglas, Pam, Delia, Roger, Cory, Tony, Abby, Juan and so many others... too many to mention. We will not hesitate to return if needed.\r \r \r more

Mesa Vista is Great!!! 11/8/2010

I was very impressed with the care my mother received. The nurses and aides were awesome! The therapists were the best! I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs skilled nursing and rehab! more

Deplorable Borderline Abusive Staff 6/25/2010

Deplorable staff. My mom was sent here to get built back up and a little more self sufficient after several bad falls resulting in her breaking her hips. She had also had pnemonia a few times. The first night she was there I arrived to find her moaning in pain and was advised by the staff that despite them calling their staff doctor 3 times her prescriptions had not been written. I went home and brought her medication from home so that she would not suffer. Since then her 10 pm meds have been over an hour late twice and one day they left out a dose of pain medication entirely. She has to start calling for meds at 9 if she wants them to get there by 10. They simply do not respond to the call lights, nevermind trying to find an actual person.\r \r The newest blow has been her day pass to get her military id updated. They told her it had been written and when she was getting ready to leave they told her that the ""social worker"" who wrote it had no authority to do so. They then proceeded to tell her that her son in law was not allowed to take her to dr apts despite the fact that her roomate's son is allowed to take her whenever she needs to go. Plus she spent the previous weekend seeing people coming and going with their families but she is apparently no allowed to.\r \r They also tell their patients that their behavior is ""unacceptable"" if they moan when in pain. They are told to be quiet. If you are in a wheelchair with an oxygen bottle you will be reprimanded if you do not immediately remove the line from the bottle when you roll through the door of your room and hook into house oxygen. The nurses will tell the patients that their behavior is unacceptable and that they are costing them (the nurse) money by using that oxygen, that it is too expensive. Funny thing but in the past my mother's insurance has been billed for her oxygen, not the nurse hooking it up.\r \r If I could give a rating below 1 star I would. Horrible experience overall.\r \r Pros: Beautiful Facility Cons: The Staff, The Doctors more

I would not send myself here. 12/17/2009

I would not send myself to Mesa Vista Inn. The night employees there do not care about the resisdents/patients there. It take about 1hr to 2hrs, to get a response for medication or help after you hit the call bottom. The night employee are extremely rude and disrepectful to the residents/patient there. I have witnessed this myself. I felt discussted by this place. And would not recommed Mesa Vista Inn Health center . This place is not worth having one of my loved one go though this type of discontent. Do not go to Mesa Vista Inn at 5756 N. Knoll drive. In San Antonio. Tx 78240. PS. If you have loved one here take them out.! Pros: Beautiful building Cons: Worst place in San Antonio for resisdents/patients more

One of the worst Healthcare Rehab Facility in San Antonio 11/10/2008

I would never take any family member of mine to this place again. Half of the staff does not care about the residents/patients there and it takes at least 30 minutes to get a response from them in the evenings and weekends. Sometimes it takes 1 to 2 hours to get someone to respond to the call button. The rehab unit is not that great either especially on weekends. They let their employees watch TV with the patients and one employee even kept her children there in the afternoons in one of the empty rooms and she would stay there with them for hours. I recommend HealthSouth RIOSA they respond to the call button within 5 minutes everytime there. Pros: Half of the employees were great! Cons: Half of the employees were terrible. more
