Merry Go Round is a great store in this world of mass merchants and they do have an online registry which they implimented a couple of months ago.

Worst

It seems as though they think they don't need to be nice because they have some of the best baby products around. I am turned off by staff and always try to buy baby products els...

Super Delayed 9/3/2014

I would give a 0 star if I could. Ordered a mattress. Was told it'd be in within 3 weeks. 4 weeks came by, nothing. Called the store, and repeatedly told that they'd track it down, they are contacting the vendor, they are looking for the tracking number etc. No call backs. So we had to call then again. Nothing useful in terms of an update. Now it is 5 weeks since ordering. Remember too, they've taken the money already. Called them again, while their responses seem genuine (ie not rude) but just felt like I'm getting the typical round about way of not answering the issue directly, I was told they've got the tracking number and would arrive by early next week. Early next week came and no call. So I called them. They said they can't find the order under our name...WTF?! Yes, like everyone else, we thought going local to support a local family business was the way to go. But this is unacceptable. I'd love to see them turn around since they've been a family business for over 50 years and with Amazon taking over, it is great to have a store front to look round. If it is their vendor problem, then they should find other vendors or demand higher quality of service. Disappointed but still hopeful! more

Nice Selection Bad Staff 9/11/2009

I have to agree completely with the previous review of this store. My wife likes supporting local stores for obvious reasons, but has all but sworn off going there anymore due to the really poor customer service. My wife is in full buying mode decorating a new baby girl’s room and liked several things in the store, but was not approached or asked if she had any questions for the 30 minutes she was in the store. What a shame. Good baby stores are hard to find. Guess this one gets taken off my short list now. more

DON'T shop here; disregards safety concerns 6/26/2008

Such a disappointment! This store is cute and is apparently locally owned. We loved it when we first discovered it recently and have made numerous purchases over several visits. Indeed, we’ve brought in half a dozen other customers. So we were terribly disappointed by the rude and dismissive treatment we got when we tried to report to them a faulty product. While the rudeness was upsetting, they chose to knowingly sell faulty products – with the justification that they won’t order more. That’s irresponsible and unethical. We recently purchased a little metal kazoo toy. Within an hour of giving it to a four-year-old, we noticed paint had chipped off the mouthpiece – apparently swallowed by the little girl. We notified the store of the problem during a future visit (didn’t even try to return it, just wanted to warn them.). At first, they dismissed our concerns by saying the store wasn’t planning to order more of the toys. But what about the toys left on the shelves, we asked, shouldn’t those be pulled? Apparently not. When we tried to explain that it’s dangerous for children to eat paint (whether or not it contains lead,) we were again blown off. My mother – a quiet, sweet woman and a social worker – was told by someone identifying herself as the owner that she might have more luck getting cooperation had my mom been nicer about it. It was bizarre. (Ironically, it was my mom who discovered the store, became a huge fan and brought in all that business.) Regardless of the owner misunderstanding of my mother, should such personal feelings be a factor in product safety decisions? Given how they run their business: Be on the safe side, shop elsewhere. more

DO NOT shop here- regardless of how nice/cute their stuff is 10/30/2007

I, unfortunately, did not read the reviews of Merry Go Round prior to purchasing my daughters crib, dresser and changing table. Large, one stop children’s stores are hard to find, and when I saw all their nice items, I thought I could not go wrong. Be warned, their customer service is beyond terrible, and the employees and owners do not care about trying to make things right. Some of you might read these reviews and think, ok, this won’t happen to me, or I am not that picky, what could go wrong, but let me tell you, it will happen to you! I am very easy going, easy to please, and they have pushed me over the edge. (so much to the point I am writing this feedback, and telling EVERYONE I know NOT to shop here) We ordered her furniture in Aug. 20 weeks before she was schedule to arrive. They told us that it would arrive in 6-8 weeks, and then we could arrange delivery (they do not even do this for you, you are on your own calling the Big Guys, whom are great by the way) 7 weeks into the order, I called just to get a status update (hey, things do sometimes arrive early!) and they told me they do not do that, that I had 1 more week and they will check the status then. I thought that was very odd. So I wanted 1 more week, and call to check. They told me it was not in, and had no idea when it would arrive. I said call the manufacturer to find out. I continued to call them every other day for 2 weeks, until they finally told me they had lost my order. I was livid, and asked what they were going to do to get my furniture here quickly. They said nothing. So I began working directly with the crib manufacturer, which was great. They rushed it out to merry go round, whom then took part of my order and gave it to someone else. (because they had waited longer!) They do not care that my baby is scheduled to arrive in 3 days and I am without furniture I spent over $2,000 for. No one returns my calls, and no one cares. DO yourself a favor and stay away. It is stressful enough being a first time parent, you should not have this to worry about on top of everything else going on. more

Great Stuff, Great Staff! 6/22/2007

Whenever I have a cloud over my head following me throughout my day, I know that I can visit Merry Go Round and instantly feel rejuvenated. From their amazing selection of unique furniture, gifts and equipment, to their sales staff who truly take an interest in my having the best information and experience, these guys really know how to operate a high-class, high-end retail establishment. I refer all my friends and family to Merry Go Round because I always leave their space with oodles of goodies and a big smile on my face. Keep it up, guys! more

Merry Go Round Owners REFUSE to Apologize.... 6/21/2007

After my initial posting trying to share with the community of expecting families of my experiences, we have decided to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. The store owners replied to our complaint with false facts and humiliating insinuations with complete disregard for the recorded sales receipts and other information. My husband and I only asked for an apology. As immaterial as it is seems, sometimes that is all necessary to make amends. If at this point the owners are incapable of admitting to doing wrong and apologizing, instead, they proceed to falsely accuse us, there must be something else said. We only hope that other families in the area understand the quality of people that stand behind the business of Merry Go Round Childrens Store. It is unfortunate that the current owners, Molly and Bob Pressey, have turned a family legacy into a complete sham. I am sure their predecessors did not build this business from treating their customers with such disrespect. SHAME ON YOU!!! more

Avoid shopping there at all costs! 6/5/2007

Aside of reviewing the products, lets talk about my experience with their customer service. The convertible crib and a mattress did not arrive as promised within 6 weeks. No one bothered to call me from the store to let me know that it won't come in on time. Add to my frustration as expecting mother, I had to call a number of times. Finally I got a hold of the owners, Molly and Bob Pressey. Bob told me that my crib won't be in for another 4 weeks. Also, he was extremely rude and did not even offer to resolve the situation. When I mentioned that the crib would arrive past my due date, he asked me if I had my C-section scheduled!!!! Talk about inappropriate and obnoxious behavior towards customers. He then proceeded by screaming at me that I have only one option and hung up! He then called me back to tell me that IF I would not listen he would hang up on me again. Which he did! When my husband and I confronted them in person they told us that they would refund our money. I am a few weeks from my due date and trying to resolve this situation. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Now think whether you want to buy anything at this store and be at their mercy.... more

Barely worth tolerating 2/3/2007

Each time I have shopped there (three times as of today) I have received very poor customer service. Each time I have felt like I was getting sized up by the staff, what a creepy feeling for a confident 32 year-old woman! I plan to take my business elsewhere as they do not carry anything I could not get online or at another local, far more friendly, place. Apparently, I was not alone as I helped two other customers who were considering a Bugaboo stroller by demonstrating with my own as the staff were ignorant of how it functioned! If I were the owner I would be appalled to discover my staff behaved snobbishly and didn't even have the credit to back up the attitude they so freely give. more

Love the store, staffing could be improved 10/7/2006

We bought almost all of our baby stuff here during their annual Jan sale (15% off store), this helped to keep prices reasonable. I received great customer service from our sales rep and the managers, but then I have also encountered pushy sales people or ones that would ignore me. I will still go back for gifts, but wish that they would step up the quality of their store staff. more

I also posted this where other Merry Go Round Reviews are (see Furniture) 10/6/2006

Don't waste your time unless you like to get treated badly and are in the mood for a good swift kick to your ego. The staff at Merry Go Round made me feel like they could care less if I purchased anything from them or not. I had the same experience as most everyone, they looked at me but didn't even say hello. The items they have are quality for sure and I love the fact that they carry things that other nearby stores might not. Moms and dads should remember that if they have something it IS possible to find it someplace else. I find it hard to get past the fact that the staff at Merry Go Round is so rude and audacious to people who, by shopping at their store, provide their income and their ability to stay in business. It's almost like they should just say "Give me your money and don't bother coming back if it doesn't work for you, or you change your mind, because we won't help you. We wouldn't help you while you were in here so why would we now. I hope you did your research about what you're getting, I'm too busy stocking shelves to help you and if you didn't' t research yourself you won't get a refund. Oh, and don't let the door hit you on your way out. Thanks for spending your money here though because I'll eat well tonight." Whenever I have the opportunity I tell people not to go there. It's strange though because usually if I tell people about my experiences there they say right back to me that they had the same experience or that they heard something similar. more

no online registry?! 8/31/2006

My friend and I both are registered here and find it EXTREMELY inconvenient to not have an online registry. We both have many out of town/state relatives and this has made it nearly impossible to have them buy things from our registries (they will email or fax a copy of our handwritten registries but there are no pictures). Also, I have to say that upon reading the above reviews I'm nervous about having to return something. The new Babystyle store in Bellevue may be the way to go, they have high quality products, an online registry a great return policy AND outstanding customer service. more

Great stuff, POOR customer service 8/28/2006

My husband and I were referred to this store by my colleague. We have gone there now about 3 times because we really like the brands they carry. HOWEVER, we have never been greeted by sales people who seem to be extremely ignorant towards the customers and show no interest in them or their needs. It has been very difficult to get anyone to help us and answer any questions except when we were there on 8/12/06 - they had manufacturer's reps there for products such as Avent, Per Perego, etc.and they showed a lot of interest in the customers (very personable people). First time we visited the store we thought the poor customer service was because the store was pretty full and few sales people, but since then we have been there about 2 more times and it has not changed. Yes, people are knowledgeable, but it has been a struggle to get anyone to help us. The bottom line is that the store must get enough repeated business from customers that it does not matter to them how they treat new ones. Not a good way to run a business! I would definitely NOT recommend this store to a friend. more

Great shopping RUDE staff 8/20/2006

It seems as though they think they don't need to be nice because they have some of the best baby products around. I am turned off by staff and always try to buy baby products else where. It's sad because it is an awesome store. I left a message awhile back about the poor customer service I received, left my phone number and no return call. The $60 Kolcraft stroller I had just bought, fell apart and they wouldn't return it. I explained that my family had just bought 2 rockers from them, car seat, etc. and that with that return policy (still not sure what it is), we can't shop their anymore. No return phone call. Guess they didn't care about losing a customer! more

Poor customer service. Undeclared return policy. 8/9/2006

I am a 68 year old woman and stumbled on to Merry Go Round recently while looking for two "smallish" chairs for my living room. None of the sales staff greeted me the entire time I was in there -- perhaps it was because I am an "older" person. Or perhpas it was because I was dressed in tennis shoes and running clothes and was deemed unworthy of their attention, which seemed to go instead to well-dressed clientele. I ended up purchasing the two chairs for a cost of just under $1200. Unfortunately, they were not a good fit for my living room and I am attempting to return them. The owner of the store told me the re-shelfing fee wil be 50 % of the original cost, or approximately $600. When I protested the high reshelfing fee, she told me that a) the sales staff always goes over the policy with the customer at the time of purchase and b) that their policy is attached to the sales receipt. Neither of these was true. I strongly recommend doing business elsewhere. more

Horrible salespeople, great selection 7/31/2006

I've never had to deal with such obnoxious salespeople as in this store! I was attracted by their great selection, and was actually ready to make a purchase before their saleswoman took an attitude when we asked a question (about the availability of an item). The people are simply rude and unfriendly, and this has happened a few times now. This has also happened to other friends. We are now at the point where we will not go back. "Go to your room" has great staff, so does "The Right Start" and "Children's Shop" more

Nice stuff poor Customer Service 7/13/2006

I fully agree with many of the reviews, that the customer service is extremely poor and employees are rude. I go to this store frequently and 90% of sales employees usually ignore me and do not even say hallo or show at least a partial interest in the customer. Once I was waiting for their sales person for 30 minutes to bring me a car seat from the back while he was on the phone! more

Love The Merchandise but Hate Customer Service 5/24/2006

I've purcharsed several items for my child from this store but I have to agree w/ Julie in Bothell that their customer service is terrible. They're so prejudiced among customers who don't act/dress in upper class. I hope Merry Go Round would have a chance to see these comments and improve the way they treat unsatisfied customers like us. more
