A Lovely Dining Experience Feb 2011 2/12/2011

The food, atmosphere, service were all absolutely off the charts. We could not have asked for a better dining experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary and most recently a birthday. Adriane was our server and she was charming. The filet mignon was the best we have ever had and I guarantee you won't mind eating your vegetables. We will return many times. more

Contract? What good is a contract? 12/8/2010

My fiance and I recently met with Carlin McQuiddy, Banquet and Wedding Events Coordinator, to discuss having our wedding reception at Mere Bulles. I must say we were very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of wedding coordination that Mrs. McQuiddy exuded. It didn't take long during our tour of the restaurant that we decided that Mere Bulles was the place for us. After the tour, we sat down and agreed upon a minimum dollar amount ($8,000) that we would spend with them. Normally, the minimum to have a reception at Mere Bulles is $10,000. Before we could get home, my Blackberry went off with an email from Mrs. McQuiddy with the dated, signed contract attached agreeing on a date and the $8,000 amount. Here's where it all goes south... The following Wednesday, my fiance received a call from Mrs. McQuiddy stating that we cannot have our reception on the agreed upon date (12/10/11) due to the owner being a 'small business owner' and he has to look out for his employees. In the words of the owner: ""I can make 3 times what you are spending"" and that the contracted minimum is no longer valid. The question I have is: WHAT GOOD IS A CONTRACT? We still have a copy saved on our laptop, but what good is it? We now know what kind of people are running the show and will never step foot in that place again. To be honest, we've already taken a tour of Lillie Belles in Franklin, and are quite satisfied with what we were presented. more

Wickedly Bad Service 6/20/2010

Why bother with reservations? Father's Day with pregnant and handicapped family members and we had 30 extra minutes in sweltering heat. The management could only manage,""Well, what did you expect on a holiday."" Really? Those without reservations were getting seated faster. Nary a ""We are sorry"". Well, for such sorry service, we will also be voting with our checkbook as well as this review. We have been coming there on Father's Day for 4 years and that was our last. Pros: Still trying to find one... Cons: Managerial skills and timing more

Pricey for average food 2/27/2009

I would give three stars because the food was average, BUT because of the price it goes to below average. While I didn't pay for my food (I was at a work function) I could still see the price for what I would have had to pay for soup, salad and a club sandwhich and it was pretty ridiculous. Especially because it was only so-so. I've had better Chicken Tortilla soup at Sub Stop, and the Ceasar salad and club sandwhich were really on par with O'Charleys. The building is really pretty, there's ample parking and the wait staff is really nice, so that's good. But the price for the taste of the food just isn't worth it. You can find better expensive restaurants or get the same taste for a lot cheaper. Pros: Staff is excellent and plenty of parking Cons: Way overpriced for average food more

Great reception for our daughter's wedding! 7/6/2008

On May 23, we had a reception for 30+ people (family and bridal party) for our daughter's wedding. None of us lives in the Nashville area, so, other than a visit to Mere Bulles a few weeks earlier and some reviews, we had no knowledge of the restaurant. What sold us on the restaurant for our event was Bonnie, the catering coordinator, and her easy style and willingness to accommodate our requests. Pros: Bonnie, food, better than having to hire a caterer and a venue and table/chair rental. more

Great location, decent food 4/15/2008

Wish I could write a review that the food was wonderful but the truth is the food is pretty good but should be great for the prices they charge and the beautiful location they have. They need to update their menu to add more seafood dishes. Good wine selection and reasonable prices on the drinks. Pros: Location, service, bar, parking Cons: price versus vaule of the food more

I love this place! 2/23/2008

There are not many places you can go in Nashville and receive such great service and quality of food. I think everyone should eat here at least once! Everytime I have eaten here the food has been terrific, and the service has been absolutely superb. Only one time did I have a problem with my food, and the manager quickly fixed everything and took care of us. One of the most memorable items is the she-crab bisque which is one of the best soups I have ever tasted!! I even got to hear a story about the history of the house and Maryland Farms. There aren't very many hospitable restuarants in Nashville, but when you find one like this you just have to keep coming back. I look forward to going back soon! Pros: service, food, parking Cons: none! more

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED 11/28/2007

Mere Bulles has a good reputation in the Nashville area. Today I tried to have lunch at Mere Bulles and when I say tried it is because I could not eat the food that they attempted to prepare. I went with 4 other business professionals in the Brentwood area and the service and food was pitiful. That is the best word I can think of to explain my experience. I just got back to my office and I could not wait to write this review I even signed up on this site specifically to write this review. First we ordered our drinks the waitress gave every person the wrong drinks. After this we ordered appetizers, which again were given to the wrong people and we were not even asked if they were correct they sat down the plates and walked away so we had to hand the plates to each other. I had the lobster bisque which after a bit of shell still turned out pretty good. Probably the best experience at Mere Bulles which is sad! Then we all ordered the filet with the gargonzola cumbles, each of us asked for it to be prepared in a different way whether it was medium, medium well, or medium rare. I ordered my filet medium. Again when the food was brought out each person received the wrong steak. I checked my steak and it was brown all the way through. Not really how a steak cooked medium should look. I typically never send food back bacause of the horror stories but I was disappointed and I never eat filet well done. Then after everyone else had finished the so called manager came with a new plate for me said a quick apology then walked away before I could check my steak. The new steak was absolutely raw!! So needless to say I had mash potatoes as my entree. I was never offered a new steak instead the server just brought out 4 desserts eventhough there were 5 of us. Then when the bill came they gave us the wrong check. I know I got in depth on this review but it happened today . I receive better service at a fast food restaurant then Mere Bulles and the manager should be ashamed. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Food, Management more

Best North Brentwood Restaurant! 11/20/2006

Mere Bulles is consistently excellent ... food, service, and ambiance! A couple of our favorite menu items include the salmon spinach salad and the sea bass. Of course, we would never go and not order a bowl of crab bisque first! It's the best we have ever had and sometimes in the winter it's worth going to Mere Bulles just for the bisque! The desserts are very good as well. The creme brulee is one of our favorites. more

Worth the Trip 10/15/2003

I think Mere Bulles is a true hidden treasure in Nashville. Food was supperb, service was exceptional (ask for Joe), atmosphere was upscale and comfortable. It did get a bit noisy due to a large group seated next to us. Looking forward to our next visit. Pros: great menu, felt welcome Cons: Bit noisy in patio more

Atmosphere 4/15/2003

The atmosphere was great as was the food and service. Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Food Quality Cons: Some patrons more

Thanks though! more

Just OK 8/28/2002

For the price I feel that Mere Bulles is OK. Their lunch selection is fine but not enough light items..excluding salads. Pros: Atmosphere, service always great Cons: pricey, options could be diff more
