It's not Vegas until you Hit a Memphis Championship BBQ 5/14/2010

IF I ONLY HAD $8 TO SPEND IN VEGAS AND WANTED TO MAKE IT LAST. I WOULD HEAD TO MEMPHIS BBQ. Yes, it is worth shouting about!!!! My husband and I stumbled upon a Memphis championship BBQ and made the mistake of ordering some Onion Straws, BBQ Nachos(My personal favorite) and a King sandwich each the first time we went. We had enough food for a week and believe you we can eat. After making Pigs of ourselves(no pun intended) we bought the left overs back to our suite then on to New Jersey when vacation time was over. We did eat for a week and the food was as delicious on night 5 as night one. Maybe better. DON'T MISS THIS ONE. BUDGET FRIENDLY, DELICIOUS BEYOND YUMMY, AND GREAT FREINDLY STAFF TO MAKE IT EVEN BETTER. Over the years they have added call ahead take out, drive thru and flat screens in a small cozy sports bar area. Memphis championship BBQ ROCKS Pros: prices unbelievably reasonable, BEST BBQ IN USA Cons: TO FAR AWAY FROM EAST COAST more

Good Southern Bar B-Q 1/7/2010

We come from Bar BQ country and never expected to find a good Bar BQ restaurant in Las Vegas, well surprise, surprise. Two of my friends at home are champion?s of the legendary Memphis in May Bar BQ championships and they could not prepare any better food than we had at this Las Vegas eatery. The service was excellent, the food was good, the bill was reasonable, what else could you ask for? We will be back, on our next trip out to Las Vegas. Pros: Good food, good service, reasonable price more

Ordinary 12/25/2009

12/10 My wife again receive a buy one, get one coupon in recognition of her birthday so she ordered a full rack of baby back ribs while I ordered pork shoulder. The ribs were overdone and the pork shoulder lacked flavor. The sides were hit and miss: potato salad (too much mayo), baked beans (excellent) and mac and cheese (fair). We are going to take a pass on this offer in the future. 12/09 This small chain of BBQ restaurants is considered by many to be the best Las Vegas has to offer. My wife received a 2/1 coupon valued up to $20 shortly before we departed from home. This one did not require the purchase of an equal or greater value entree so I chose one of the least expensive meals, pork shoulder, while she ordered a rack of babyback ribs. Mine was bland so I added copious amounts of BBQ sauce. The ribs were very meaty, flavorful , but the 2 sides that come with each order can be nasty. We were disappointed in our macaroni and cheese, green beans (right out of a can), collared greens (ugly) and red beans and rice (okay). Pros: Very good ribs Cons: Disappointing sides more

Best barbecue in Vegas 11/13/2009

the baby-back ribs are amazing as is their barbecue sauce. The sauce has a vinegar base to it, so if you like the really sweet stuff, this may not be for you, but it's definitely worth a try. The brisket is very good most of the time - tender and moist, but there have been a small number of occasions when it was a little tough and dry. The sides are always great. Prices are lower than Lucille's, the food is better, and you get more for your money. Pros: Best baby-back ribs and barbecue sauce around Cons: None! more

The best 10/3/2009

Eaten there for years now, never had bad food. A couple of times the service has been slow, but usually it is top notch. We have used them for catering and group functions, and were always happy. My favorite is the King sandwich with extra cole slaw. Pros: Way good barbecue Cons: service can be slow when busy more

Beware the hype! 6/5/2009

I have tried this place and the other locations over the years and I have yet to have a good piece of barbeque at any of their locations in Vegas. I recently had a good meal at Buzz and great barbeque at TC's Rib Crib. I read that Memphis was the real deal because they had a smoker. So I gave it one more try and what I got was-dry-thin-slightly warm meat and this was their ""porterhouse of ribs"". Never again! The ribs at TC's were juicy, meaty, and with plenty of flavor. Beware the hype! Pros: Service was prompt and friendly Cons: dry overcooked meat more

Honest to goodness BBQ exceptionally well done. 2/18/2009

By far the best BBQ in Las Vegas and some of the best on the planet. The pulled pork and the ribs are beyond compare. The baked beans are the best I've ever tasted. Not Texas or KC style - it's dry rub Q slow smoked. The desserts are a little weak (although pecan pie is good), but by the time you get to dessert you're too full to even contemplate them. Nobody ever walks out of this place hungry. Pros: Ribs and pulled pork. Baked beans. more

I Like their bbq 11/17/2008

It is real southern style BBQ. And the slaw is just like back home. It is a vinegar base and it is served on top of the BBQ sandwich. On an earlier review the writer complained that it was memphis/texas style. Duh. Hence the name Memphis BBQ. As for the sides - they are sometimes good and sometimes not so good. I love the baked sweet potato. And the creamed corn is really just that corn in a sauce made with real cream. I usually get the bbq beef or pork sandwich. I usually have to take half of it home. Their pecan pie is pretty good too. Pros: Great service and off the strip. Several locations to choose from. Cons: Sometimes a little pricey. more

Pretty Darn Good BBQ for Las Vegas 9/28/2007

Well, as far as BBQ places go in Las Vegas, this one is by far the best. Their sausage link was delicious and the brisket was tender and flavorful. The choice of sauces was pretty good as well. The sides are always iffy and you just have to pick and choose. I would eat here again although only on pay day as they are a little pricey. However, most BBQ places are expensive due to the high cost of meat. Someone mentioned eating at Famous Daves....DO NOT waste your time. That place ranks right up there with the Salt Lick in just plain ol' bad food. And you most definately do not get your money's worth. Memphis Championship BBQ is, in my opinion, the best that Las Vegas has to offer but certainly not ""the best"" ever. Pros: Good food, good service easy access. Cons: Little too expensive but do-able more

If you want good bbq, this is not the place 7/28/2007

Heard many good things about this place but turned out to be very disappointing. As previous writer had mentioned cole slaw is very vinegary and besides that not much flavor. Ordered combo of beef brisket and 1/2 smoked/bbq chicken. The chicken was actually pretty good .. nice smokey flavor and very tender meat which slid off the bone. The beef brisket on the other hand was horrible! It was very tough and fatty and also lacked any flavor. Had rice pilaf for a side and it tasted sour like they used the coleslaw dressing on it! Service was slightly above average but nothing special, at least the server noticed that I didn't eat the beef brisket to take it off of the bill. I would recommend Buckingham Smokehouse BBQ or even Famous Daves (chain restaraunt) over this place. I haven't been to Lucile's but have heard they are very good. Take my advice and go elsewhere for bbq that will be worth spending your money! Pros: plenty of parking space (should have suspected something when I noticed this) Cons: fatty/tough meat lacking flavor, not good value for the price more

Cute decorations 4/12/2007

Nice wait staff - nice smokey aromas outdoors - bland flavors in the meats (beef had excessive fat, but the pork was tender) - very vinegary but crunchy coleslaw - strangely flavored baked beans - and tough, overcooked crust on the hush puppies. Nice sweet potato, but the cinnamon did not enhance the potato and should be replaced by butter. Tea much too sweet. Nice place, but disappointing food unless one prefers food without much flavor. Not sure how this quality of cooking won any James Beard award. BBQ should be infused into the meats, and it wasn't. Wish it had been, because we would have been repeat customers with guests. Pros: good service, nice wait staff, enticing smokey aroma in the parking lot Cons: bland disappointing meats more

Far from the best: 4/11/2007

The King has left the building and probably never showed up to this spot. Maybe he should be using the actual winning recipe here because the food I had was far from winning on any scale. The ribs were dry sauce was nothing special or anything you couldn't taste off a shelf at the grocery store. I would not go out of my way to eat at this place. Maybe if your options are limited to eating a Rib sandwich from McDonalds, or eating here, then I might even say then Mc'D's might be worth the stomach ace. more

Top-shelf Tennessee Dry Rub 11/10/2006

This is my top choice for BBQ when I'm in Vegas. The previous review may be correct, you may have gotten some over cooked Baby Back ribs (return them). I have been to this place many many times and I always order the St Louis ribs. As the menu states ""the porterhouse of ribs."" Always pink (because of the smoke process) and very moist. These ribs don't need sauce but Memphis also provides a fine sauce. And yes the ""sides"" are so-so, but I'm not there for sides. Several of my friends order the ""King"" pulled pork sandwich, it comes with the slaw on top. The Ball jar's of Apple Ice Tea are always recommended. Pros: A Must Stop, St Louis cut Ribs, Covered Patio area for large groups Cons: Sides are so-so, Parking @ Warm Springs location is adequate more

Las Vegas BBQ scene is poor. 11/2/2006

Being from the midwest and well educated in BBQ I would have to say that I was disappointed in the effort of this place. Portions are well sized, meat is way over-cooked, side dishes were the biggest disappointment. I hope someone realizes that Vegas needs a real BBQ place. I will not return to dine here. Pros: comfortable scene Cons: food, BBQ, prices more

Some of the best BBQ I've had! 11/2/2006

We love this place! Every time we are in Las Vegas, we make the trip. Try the fried pickles! You'll be surprised at how good they are. And the prices are excellent! Worth the trip off-strip! more

Sweet Tea in Vegas!!! 6/21/2006

I love Memphis BBQ for a great Lunch!!! It's usually pretty fast and the food is good. I prefer Warm Springs over Nellis, especially at lunch time, since the Nellis location gets alot of military guys at lunch and if you don't get there before noon there is a wait... Pros: Great Sweet Tea, Quick more

I saw the citysearch rating and was excited to try this place. Checked it out and was extremely disappointed. This is definately a poor excuse for barbecue! more

The way BBQ should be! 9/13/2005

This is the way BBQ should be done! The owner and I grew up in the same part of the country and this is how I remember BBQ being cooked, open coals and with fruit wood. Pros: Everything more

Best BBQ Anwhere 6/6/2005

Simply the best BBQ anywhere. If you want BBQ in Vegas.. look no further. No place can even compare. If you live in the area I suggest trying each diffrent entre as you return. I usually get the slow roasted chicken, but the beef is excellent as well. Also I suggest you buy a couple bottles of their award winning sauce and Magic Dust. The location near Nellis AFB is excellent as well. Pros: Best BBQ, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Can be noisy more

For BBQ only 11/3/2004

This is an average place. The decor is southern and it would be a fun laid back place for kids. The food is okay if you like this kind of BBQ. Items other than BBQ aren't very good. It's a fun place. Usually very crowded at lunch time! more
