After dealing with Melange for the past few summer months leading up to my July wedding, I cannot say I would recommend them to anyone for the following reasons:

After looking at a million different place to find my wedding dress I was feeling pretty hopeless so i'm really glad I found Melange! I tried on a few beautiful gowns until I found the winner! And at a great price, which is a big deal! Great staff, great prices, great place! more

This review is regarding consignment. Don't put your pristine gown on consignment if want to get it back in the same shape. I left a $4000 Monique Lhuillier gown that had been heirloom preserved and had no damage to it whatsoever. When I picked up the gown after a few months because it had not been sold, it was filthy and had pulls in the fabric.The petticoat was also torn. I had written into my contract that they would keep the gown in a plastic bag, which they did not do. \r \r I realize that when you leave a dress to be tried on that there will be some wear that happens to it. But this is far beyond the usual wear of trying on. They do not have carpet on their floor, so the floor is black and dusty, which got all over the dress. I'm sad I left my dress there for them to ruin. more

Melange Bridal -Best in Austin 8/19/2011

Okay, so I'm not one of those people that dreamed about my wedding dress...I've always been into fashion and pride myself on believing I have good fashion taste but this was a whole new ball game! And not to mention VERY overwhelming!!! And most of you know, after you try on a million things, everything starts to look the same! The staff at Melange really helped me in figuring out my sense of style and gave me their opinion on what they thought might look great and not in a pushy or annoying way!!! And let me tell you, they were spot on!!! I live in Dallas, and went to Austin looking for something different and was very much surprised by the selection they had a Melange...I mean I got a dress from PARIS people...in AUSTIN!!! Amazing! more

Best Bridal Shop in Austin 6/13/2011

I didn't end up buying my wedding dress from here, but I really really really wish I loved one of the dresses enough to buy a dress from here. The ladies that work here are personable, helpful, not pushy, funny, and make the experience totally awesome. I even asked if I could have a job! haha! They have a beautiful selection of dresses and will make searching for your dress a joy. You MUST go there and try on dresses - you won't regret it, and you might find the dress of your dreams! more

Great Bridal Shop! Awesome experience! 10/18/2010

I have been into Melange searching for Bridesmaids dresses not once, but twice, without an appointment. And they were so helpful! They had a room ready for trying on, and had a huge selection of bridesmaid dresses! The prices were good - comparable to any other place, and the sales people/owners are the sweetest. They helped me picture the dress with hair and jewelry, because I am a very visual person and needed that extra help. I'm also very indecisive, and they really helped me narrow down what I liked, and what would go with my wedding. more

Fabulous Bridal Shop!! 12/3/2009

I had heard about Melange for some friends that had gotten married and they suggested that I make this one for my first stops. It was good that I stopped here first because it really set the bar for the other shops I went to. From the minute I walked in I felt like part of the "Melange Family." My consultant was Nicole and she was so sweet and helpful. She knew a lot about the dresses which was refreshing considering the other shops I went to did not seems to care as much about anything except taking your money. They put me in some great gowns and when I asked for some tips about color they gave me great suggestions, even one that I'm using as my color scheme! I would def suggest coming here they make you feel right at home, and their suggestions and advice are so very helpful. :) Pros: great staff/ great selection/ great service more

Seriously? 3/8/2009

I went into a ton of bridal shops a few weeks ago and this was one of my stops. I was helped by a woman named Crystal and I feel bad saying this but she was the most rude and presumptuous of all the sales associates I was helped by, even worse than Olga at Serendipity. First off, I don't need to hear about how no one wants to marry you and you're over the hill, this is about me and my wedding. Second, if I say I am self conscious about my body, don't tell me I'm wrong and that I should wear a wedding gown that makes me feel uncomfortable and inappropriate, I want an a-line dress, not a sheath. Finally, she disappeared for about 10 minutes and then came back and tried to sell me flowers (I guess she is a florist too) after showing me her books which I didn't ask to see, I realized not a very good florist at that. Focus on finding me a dress, not promoting yourself or telling me how I should feel. I would stay away from this woman if you don't want to have a horrible experience. A Wonderful Bridal Experience! 7/4/2008

My sister and I went to Melange Bridal to look for a bridesmaid dress for her upcoming wedding; our sales person Katrina, was the friendliest, nicest, most honnest and wonderful sales person ever. She was so patient while helping us try on the 80 gowns that we picked out and even showed us aditional gowns that she thought we might like. She was just so helpful and nice! We had a wonderful experience and a wonderful sales person. They had the hands down best selection of shoes, dresses and accessories, and really and truly the most kindest helpful sales people, especially Katrina. I wish I could say more but you really have to check it out for yourself. If you have had a bad experience at any other bridal shop go to Melange for a refreshing experience. One last time, they are so nice, friendly, helpful and honnest! Oh and we got the most beautiful dress there and shoes for a really reasonable price......go there you will not be disapointed. Pros: Selection, sales people, price, shoes Cons: none more

Really nice service! 7/2/2008

I went in without an appointment and they were still really sweet and were ready to help me. She gave me some tags to tag the dresses I'd like to try on and Bethany was just as sweet as can be. I'd really recommend this place. Plus it was my first time looking at wedding gowns...and it was great! The good thing is they have really expensive dresses (like Melissa Sweet) and more affordable dresses (like Jasmine). more

Best Bridal Store in Austin! 2/19/2008

I went to every bridal shop in Austin looking for my wedding dress and Melange was the last stop before looking in Dallas or Houston. I walked in the store without an appointment on a Saturday (unheard of at some places) and found the perfect dress in less than 10 minutes. Gillian was phenomenal and helped me pick out every accessory for my wedding that matched my taste perfectly without being at all pushy or suggesting anything out of my budget! The girls here are so friendly and their selection is great. Pros: customer service, flexibility more

Friendly and professional service 11/8/2007

I am over 40 and wanted an informal yet elegant dress for a marriage vow renewal ceremony, and found a dress I really liked on a wedding website. Upon further research on the internet, I found that Melange was one of the manufacturer?s recommended shops in Austin so I printed the dress info and picture from the website and went to Melange. Although I did not have an appointment, I was immediately greeted by a consultant named Ashley, even though the shop was busy with another customer in the store trying on dresses (a young bride-to-be with full entourage of family and friends.) I showed Ashley the picture and she was familiar with the manufacturer and brought out the catalog so I could see a bigger picture as well as swatch colors since I wanted my dress in champagne and not white. I made my color selection, she took my measurements to ensure the right size and ordered the dress. My dress arrived on time just as promised. I just want to say that although I was only spending a couple hundred dollars on my dress, I felt that I was treated as well as the young bride who was trying on the thousand (or more) dollar designer gowns. Great Experience 10/31/2007

I bought my wedding dress at Melange Bridal, and the entire experience couldn't have been better. I went in on a Friday morning without an appointment, and they were super helpful. I love that they gave me a bunch of heart-shaped tags to hang on any dress that I wanted to try on. And I LOVED their selection, so I must have chosen at least 15 dresses. The salesperson was so nice and helpful! And I found my dress there as part of a sample sale. Pros: Great Service, Great Selection Cons: None more

Great Service 7/25/2007

This was my first stop on the dress extravaganza; the bridal consultant was very friendly, had great taste and let us take our time as well as pictures. Great dress selection and prices; the place was a little small but the service was awesome. They offered you something to drink, your friends lounge on a couch while you try on dresses. Very Uncomfortable Experience 7/21/2007

I had an appointment on a Saturday. As soon as I walked in, no one came to assist me. Four ladies were standing in the back gossiping and not one paid me any mind. I was a bit shocked since that part of town is a bit more ritzy than others. A definite disappointment. I felt so uncomfortable walking around and totally undervalued as a potential customer. Fantastic knowledge and customer service the best! 7/18/2007

Melange bridal rocks! Before going there i had been to several other bridal salons and was totally put off by either the snotty attitude or the so-so selection. Even though I was ordering on short notice (my wedding was only three months away) Gillian was able to help me find the most beautiful dress (and it was hard to pick cause there were so many!) and help me get it in time. Plus she helped me find bridesmaids dresses that were super-chic and yet not ridiculously expensive. They really went the extra mile for me! more

Sold me a used dress as new 4/23/2006

When I went to Melange Bridal and found a lovely wedding dress on sale I was delighted. Later I discovered my dress had been altered before--for another girl! I was upset. No one goes into a store like this, pays $1200, and expects a used dress. After contacting the owner ( I thought she would be so sorry) she proceeded to avoid my calls and situation. She was not apologetic (used or not)- and wouldn't allow a return. After much avoidance by the owner & staff she decided to refund my dress price except for the tax (she said she couldn't get that refunded--I don't think this is true) and wrote me a check for the amount pre-dateing it to the first day I ever called her about the problem. (Inherently a trusting person, I didn't discover this immediately--I thought this was extremely unethical!!) Buyers beware. more
