The merchandise is top notch; however the service outside the store is weak. Because of their proximity to my home, I spent three years with their aquarium service. It was about two years too long and I was slow in making a change. My bad. I put up with invoices that charged too much and being charged for products not received. The final straw was when the owner negotiated a price on a reconditioned chiller with a one year warranty. I left Medusa LA while the warranty still had time on it (six months). I called the owner when I had questions but he never called me back. When the chiller broke down and I called the owner about fixing it, he got real pissy and told me that because I switched service firms that he felt that he did not need to honor the warranty. He acted like an entitled brat. If that's what rocks your boat, then be my guest. more

I found this store by mistake.. Since then I've purchased several reptiles from them.... They are very helpful and friendly.... I give them 2 thumbs up.. Great selection...They're the best in the west... more

I am a semi experienced salt water reef enthusiast and this is my favorite fish store in LA. There is always a great selection of corals for a great price. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and the store has a great laid back atmosphere. If your looking for rare corals and unique variety you well be pleased with the awesome selection of acans, chalices, ricordeas, rare zoas and so on much more then any other store I have been to in the city! more

This store is a hidden treasure in Los Angeles. The store is decorated with graffiti styled art, There are a few really cool murals, basically Pico, just west of Bundy. There is parking in the back, several spots. The staff is really cool, and knowledgeable. I don't really understand why anyone would write a negative review about this place. It's awesome! Hands down the best selection of corals, fish, and reptiles, in L.A. I was helped by a guy with tattooed sleeves, he showed my daughter about 5 different snakes, and a few cool little frogs. She loved it! He wasn't pushy either, just super accommodating, and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back! more

The guys who work here really know what they are talking about. They are willing to take the time to answer your questions and help you design your system to your budget. Livestock can be a bit pricey, but for the rarer varieties available and the good health of the animals, a little extra is worth it. Little known fact: there is a parking lot in the rear of the store; enter through the alley. Pros: knowledgeable staff, terrific selection, parking lot in back Cons: expensive but worth it more

This pet store is really cool. The fish varieties are spectacular. On more than one occassion, I've found fish that no other pet store ever carry. Medusa has excellent and healthy seahorses, coral, weird little anglers, and hundreds of other unique saltwater aquarium fish. My favorite section is actually the reptiles. They have a lot of Uromastyx, Argentinian tegus, chameleons, kingsnakes, milksnakes, basilisks, and some gecko variety. There is a giant mural on the storefront with Obama holding his lizard. Check it out for yourself. The negative people that write reviews must be those typical Petco type people. Friendly detail oriented small business is the vibe I get from Medusa. more

This store probably has the best selection of rare, exotic reptiles and reef fish, invertebrates and coral in Los Angeles... This store is definitely for the serious hobbyist and not the amateur. If you want a $19 lizard or $10 fish, then go to PetCo, but if you are a true enthusiast and appreciate a quality selection and knowledgeable staff, this is your store.... Pros: Great Selection and Knowledge Cons: A little Pricey more

This place was nice. A really nice selection of saltwater fish and reptiles. The staff was really nice and knowledgeable. They helped me figure out exactly what sort of reptile that I was looking for and weren't pushy about selling me something. Pros: Great selection, great customer service Cons: bad parking more

Amazing and beautiful marine specimens! It can be a bit pricy but this is generally because they carry high quality and sometimes rare livestock. The reptiles are clean and well cared for and the staff is helpful and has encyclopedic knowledge. I would say this is the best store on the west side right now. i was sold a thermostat for 80 dollars and when i looked up the product on the internet i saw that it was only 30 dollars EVERYWHERE ELSE I LOOKED. even the vibe in the store felt like i was getting ripped off. younger guys paying more attention to the cute girls of course could not care less about me or my animal. if you have the time i highly recommend going elsewhere. more

I usually don't like stores that mix their specialties like reptiles and fish but this one does it well. I have worked in a few large aquarium and pet supply stores and have a very wide knowledge of both reptiles and fish (especially reefs) so I know when I see quality animals. The reptiles for the most part are healthy though they only carry the more common species. The saltwater fish are also fairly healthy and the tanks are well established despite the store only being open for less than a year. The owner is really nice and very knowledgeable to the point that he actually knew most of the very rare saltwater fish I was looking for. He is quite proud of his store and seems to have the same passion for coral as I do. He also says that he will be expanding soon and plans to have more of the now empty tanks filled with fish and coral. If they don't have what you like just ask to speak with the owner and he can get it for you. more
