Best Optical Experience 5/27/2009

My family have been to numerious optical stores but this store is by far the best. I was personally greeted by both the optician Calvin and Dr. Elena Rosen. One is immediately led to feel that they are being serviced by people who sincerely care. The exam was complete and efficient. Afterwards you are hand-held through the selection process. My search was quickly narrowed down to two pairs of glasses. In short I was confident about my decision and actually enjoyed my time with Calvin and Elena. It truly was like shopping with friends. The store is convenient and the decor sublime. I am sorry I did not come here sooner. The selection was tremendous, the quality top notch and the prices no more expensive than going to a mass chain where the service does not compare. This is like shopping at a boutique instead of a mass retailer but at the same prices. Pros: 5 Star Service more

great eyeglass store 5/27/2009

i made an appointment to have my eyes examined with Dr. Rosen at Maximeyes Optical. When i first walked into the store, i was greeted by Calvin the optician with a warm smile. I've always been used to going to a Lenscrafters or a Cohen's type of store, but Maximeyes was such a pleasant change. I felt very comfortable just browsing around the store until my exam. The atmosphere and decor of the store is very warm and friendly, not like a doctors office or a typical generic looking eyeglass store.\r Dr. Rosen gave me a very thorough exam and it was pretty quick as well. I could definitely tell that she knew what she was doing and that really put me at ease. I have a pretty high prescription and have been wearing glasses since the 3rd grade, so I've had my fair share of exams. This one ranks up as one of the best I've experienced.\r After checking my eyes for contacts and glasses (killing two birds with one stone), we proceeded to look for some frames. I've never been good at picking out glasses, but with the help of Calvin and Dr. Rosen, I actually found a good 5-6 frames that I really liked. Too bad i haven't won the lotto yet, otherwise, i would have taken them all. After narrowing some down, I finally chose a Bevel frame. It's probably the coolest frames I've ever owned. It's super lightweight and has a nice semi funky style to it. Calvin and Dr. Rosen were great at not pressuring me into making a rash decision, but offering me some advice when I needed it. They even suggested that i take my time. I thought it was so great that i didn't feel any pressure during the whole time.\r Now comes the tough part, my lenses. I'm always scared of the coke bottle look since my prescription is so high. I spoke to Calvin about my concerns and he totally put me at ease about my high prescription. He assured me that i have nothing to worry about and went over all the differ net lens types and thinning lenses there were. He even told me that he's the one that will be making my glasses and that if i have any concerns about anything, to speak directly to him about it. I found that to be such a bonus that he will be personally making my glasses for me and that he knows the face and the name the glasses will be going on. Needless to say, my glasses came out perfect. He did some adjustments on the glasses so that it would fit more custom for my face.\r I've already gotten a bunch of compliments on my glasses from my coworkers and my friends. I can't stop telling people about Maximeyes Optical. I'm never going anywhere else for my eyes Pros: comfortable atomosphere, great selection more

Most Excellent Eyewear Shop in NYC! 5/12/2009

I love this eyeglass store!! I went here on the recommendation of a friend with fabulous chic glasses. As soon as I entered this store, it had a really great vibe, more like a Chelsea gallery than a vision shop, complete with art on the walls. The staff was enthusiastic about their products and so helpful. With their guidance, I was able to narrow my decision down to three (THREE!!) frames. For my tiny face, I usually dread looking for glasses, because everything looks too big. I chose this great frame by Salt, a brand I have not seen anywhere else. They had all styles, from the current heavy plastic retro trend to streamlined stainless steels and titaniums and lots of color. I tried them all! I had an eye exam which was so easy and comfortable and thorough. I am going back to pick out my new sunglasses here soon. Dont even bother going anywhere else! Five stars plus!\r Pros: Quality and location more

The Best Eye Glass Store in NYC 4/17/2009

There is nothing about this store I would change. The service is impeccable from both the super friendly and knowledgeable doctor Elena and the optician Calvin, the selection is incredibly tasteful and vast, (yet somehow it takes no time to make the right choice). All other stores should take note and do the same in every way. You will get the perfect eye exam that misses nothing, followed by an overwhelming increase in complements on your new glasses. Don't bother with other stores - just come here and enjoy the absolutely delightful transaction and your improved eyes. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Pros: Selection Service Location Prices Cons: None - truly a perfect place more

I should have gone back to them!!! 4/15/2009

I went to MaximEyes on the recommendation of a co-worker who had some really jazzy frames. She really liked the service and the selection there and told me to check them out about a year ago. I had been buying glasses at my opthamologist's office - and although I really like my doctor, I was not that thrilled about the way her office handles the retail part of purchasing the actual glasses. I got my prescription and went to MaximEyes. I found the perfect frames in like 15 - 20 minutes - which is HUGE for me! Then they filled my prescription lenses. I have never been as happy with a pair of glasses before. I have progressive lenses as well and have issues with peripheral vision. They addressed all that and it was just a very good experience. This year, I went to my opthamologist for an exam and had a SLIGHT change in vision. Since I didn't qualify for new frames this year, I figured since I was there, I'd have the doc's office handle the change of lenses. Wouldn't you know that there would be a problem! Town Optical claims that VSP broke my frames (some really nice Katana frames that I got from MaximEyes) and now they want me to come in and try to find something ""comparable"". I am too annoyed for words right now but I blame my own hastiness if anything. I should have just taken the new prescription to MaximEyes in the first place! I am hoping to get my lenses from Town Optical and run down to MaximEyes to humbly ask what they can do to help remedy this. Meanwhile, I have been two weeks wearing two year old glasses. What a mess! My lesson: stick with what works - even if it's a little less convenient!!! Pros: Customer Service; Stylish Frames; Knowledge of vision plans Cons: Location more

Maximeyes Optical is the greatest 4/2/2009

So since summer is just around the corner, i went to Maximeyes Optical again to see if i can find some cool shades. I'm kind of tired of the same old things I see everywhere like the Prada's, Oakley's, and those sorts. I wanted something a little more cutting edge. I know that Maximeyes Optical has some nice styles and I was right. With Calvin and Dr. Rosen's help and opinion, I got a pair of IC Berlin sunglasses. These are so light weight and cool. They fit my unusual head and are so comfortable. Again, Calvin and Dr. Rosen were great at picking out exactly what I was looking for. They made it so easy again. I'm normally pretty indecisive and have no idea what looks good on myself. I totally trust their opinions since they did such a great job picking out my glasses for me. This was another great experience. I'm sending everyone I know here. Thanks Dr. Rosen and Calvin Pros: great service, great frames, great people Cons: none at all more

Great eyeglass store!!! 2/28/2009

I have been a loyal customer of maximeyes for quite a long time. Dr. Rosen makes you feel very comfortable and does a very thorough eye exam. After the eye exam, both Dr. Rosen and Calvin help you pick out the best glasses. They take into account your taste, as well as which glasses fit your face. They have a great selection and very reasonable prices. I always come out of this store completely satisfied. I have received compliments on every pair that I have ever bought here. I also purchase my contacts from them (which I don't wear often due to how much I love my glasses). I recommend this place to everyone I know!! Pros: Great selection;helpful and friendly staff;good location more

Amazing Service -- Professional and Welcoming! 2/9/2009

I am very happy with my entire experience. Both Dr. Rosen and Calvin (The Optician) are highly professional. In addition to their professional skills they have a great knack for helping find great frames. And, I've had to go back a couple of times for questions, or frame adjustments and was NEVER made to feel like I was a bother. I'm very happy with Maxim Eyes and would highly recommend them. more

Great selection, great customer service 2/2/2009

I am happier with my glasses than I have ever been in my almost 30 years of wearing glasses. I have always worn contacts more often that glasses, but with the newest pair I prefer to wear my glasses. Dr. Rosen and Calvin were very patient with me as I picked out the perfect pair of frames. The decision was a difficult one as they have such a great selection to choose from. They were great at helping me pick glasses that suited my face and they were honest if something did not look good. I would recommend Maximeyes to anyone looking for new glasses. The store is conveniently located, one block away from the 1 train. I cant wait until I am ready to get a new pair. Pros: Great customer serivice Cons: None that I can think of more

Better Than The Bigger Optical Chains!!! 1/17/2009

Upon entering this locale, I was greeted instantly by the owner - even though he was with a customer. After browsing the selection of frames, he introduced himself and helped me select a frame. He was so helpful and courteous about the selection of frame and he helped me decide upon the lenses I would need. He asked me plenty of questions about when and how I use my glasses. We finally decided on frame and lenses and I was surprised at the price!!! I shopped around that area and was very excited about making this purchase!!! I will definitely send my friends and relatives to this optical store!!! The experience was so amazing!!! It beat the bigger optical chains!!! Pros: Very convenients location. Close to public transportation!!! Cons: None!!! more

Great Eyewear Selection! 1/12/2009

For the last few years I have purchased all my eyewear at MaxiemEyes Optical. The amount of compliments I get on my cool specs are too many to count! Strangers on the subway have approached me, coworkers, family and friends all want to know where they can get my trendy eyewear! The store is convenient to get to and right next to Whole Foods. It has the hottest selection of eyewear and beats any of the chain stores!\r \r In addition to the selection, the staff is awesome. Dr. Rosen not only provides a thorough exam but also takes the time to carefully select and offer you the most ""fitting"" frames. Anyone who has looked for frames knows how daunting it can be to choose. Without hesitation, the staff carefully and honestly helps you pick out the best frames for your face and style. They always want to meet your expectations and make your glasses the best accessory you own! You never feel like you've walked out of the store with a bad purchase. Instead you can't wait to go back and pick up your new glasses. I've also gone back to have frames adjusted, retinted, even had my lenses cleaned like new. (thanks, Calvin!).. and it's all done with a smile.\r \r If you have a chance... go here. Maximeyes Optical won't let you down! more

I LOVE MY NEW GLASSES! 1/10/2009

I've been wearing glasses since second grade some 30+ years ago and I've never felt more confident in my glasses than I do now - thanks to Dr. Rosen and Calvin. Who knew glasses could have so much style and be comfortable? Thanks guys for making it so easy for me, your service is great and I love to see all the latest styles. My new glasses are the coolest! (If you want to see what I wear, visit etnia barcelona's website). Great shop to know about, my next will be for new sunglasses... more

Great Experience! 1/7/2009

I had such a great experience at Maxim Eyes Optical! It?s a trendy, upscale shop with a down-to-earth attitude. Dr. Rosen and Calvin the optician were extremely helpful and patient while helping me find the right pair of glasses. After trying on many pairs, I decided on a Kio Yamato red and white style and absolutely love them. I?ve received so many compliments, not only from friends and family but strangers too! I highly recommend this lovely shop not only for their selection, but for the wonderful people too! Happy Shopping! more

Great eyeglass store!!! 1/6/2009

I have been going to Maximeyes Optical for many years now and have nothing but good things to say about the store. They have high-end frames but without the high end prices and all different prices in between. Calvin was attentive without being overbearing and gave advice about what looked well on me. Dr. Rosen gave a most thorough eye exam and is also terrific with helping to choose frames. The store looks more expensive than it actually is and I recommend them to all of my friends. Pros: convenient to subway, price, store decor, service. more

easy 11/23/2008

After my horrible experience @ Mott Street Optical, I decided I should go someplace else for my glasses now that I had my prescription. I definitely wanted to give my business to an independent store so I searched and found Maximeyes Optical\r \r I dragged Stan w/ me since I can never make a decision on my own. I wasn't expecting much after all the bad luck i've been having trying to find the right frames at multiple stores but the minute we walked into the store, I was pleased at the set up. All of their frames were displayed in large wooden cases that you could pull out and try on yourself, no more waiting for a clerk to come over and pull out each and every one for you. I also loved the mirrors they had in the store, full length and portrait, much better than the vanity stand type mirrors they have most shops. Calvin, co-owner of the shop was a great help, gave no pressure, just advice. I thought they had a great selection of Japanese brands, none of the common designers that you would normally find, i.e. Chanel, Prada, Calvin Klein, etc; I wasn't really looking for that, I just wanted nice frames that would look and fit good. After narrowing my choices down to 4, I finally decided on a Kitami frame. When it was time to order them, I was dreading the final bill, as my prescription is so high it usually costs me a fortune. The final cost was $223! Can you believe that? That's including frames, micro thin lenses, anti scratch, and anti reflective coating. And I got them in 5 business days. That's sure beats the $400+ I paid 3 yrs ago at Cohen's, never again.\r \r PS: I have Davis Vision Insurance Pros: selection, customer service more

The best optical store in Chelsea or perhaps NYC 11/11/2008

What a selection, and what amazing customer service. It's hard to say what's best about this place - the people who work there, the incredible selection of amazing glasses, or the reasonable prices. Simply said, the best optical store in Chelsea and potentially in NYC. If you are looking for a pair of exceptional glasses, an eye doctor who will take her time, and an optician who pays attention to every detail to make sure your glasses fit just right, then this is your store. If you are looking to get average product at at a ridiculous price, go elsewhere. Pros: Everything more

Great gem of a place in Chelsea 9/10/2008

I highly recommend this little gem of a place near the Chelsea Whole Foods. I dreaded having to get glasses but they have some very nice styles here which allowed me to fix my near sightedness but not compromise my fabulous self :)\r \r Seriously, they are very helpful and patient and actually did a style consultation with me to help me find something that worked with my face, hairstyle and overall look. I've gotten plenty of compliments so they get my full five star rating! Pros: Great selection, Good service Cons: A little pricey. more
