Maureen Raytis Is the BEST 11/29/2009

Maureen Raytis has changed my life! I started see Maureen 4 months ago after reading several reviews that she is one of the leading Acupuncturist in the Bay Area in terms of addressing fertility. I have been TCC for 4 years with no success (now 41). After numerous surgeries to correct problems, and a failed IVF where the Dr. pretty much said it was unlikely that I would ever conceive, I decided to try a more holistic approach. Maureen was very knowledgeable, caring and seemed to instantly have a handle on how to address my specific issue. Her passionate approach coupled with the serene atmosphere made every visit worth the next. I really appreciated that she did not have a ""one fits all"" attitude and that she tailored my treatment which included herbs and acupuncture to my situation. She was also very flexible with scheduling appts. and her prices are comparably lower. I am ecstatic to say, I am now 6 weeks pregnant and truly believe that God sent Maureen as my angel. I could not wait to share my news with her. I will continue to see Maureen throughout my pregnancy...I can't thank her enough. I wholeheartedly, recommend Maureen. more

Fantastic acupuncturist! 3/24/2009

I can't say enough about Maureen. I went to her a few months before starting fertility treatments. I went through IVF and with Maureen's help I was able to get pregnant the very first time! She is not only a skilled acupuncturist, she is also very insightful and was able to tailor each session to my specific needs. She really took the time to listen with compassion and as a patient I felt she genuinely cared and was excited for our process and eventual success! I had been to see other acupuncturists in the past and had varied success but none like with Maureen. In addition, I found her to be the most gentle with regards to the actual treatment. No pain at all! I highly recommend her for anyone trying to get pregnant or anyone seeking the best acupuncturist around. Pros: Great for anyone with fertility issues Cons: None! more

Tennis Elbow 8/6/2008

I had surgery on my elbow last year and it was better but only about 60%. I still had some pain after I played. I started getting acupuncture treatments and noticed the pain going away over time. Now I feel I can play pain free, which I thought I would never be able to do. I'm thrilled that I can play again!! Pros: great personality. super easy going more

Good for Depression 5/24/2008

I had never had acupuncture before, and didn't know what to expect. Maureen explains the process and effects with expertise. It is a very nurturing environment! I went here to assist with depression symptoms. Over time, I really felt a difference. I believe these treatments really helped me through the winter season. And, she is knowledgeable in supplements, herbs as well! more

Feel better in 1 treatment! 4/9/2008

I have known Maureen for over 10 years. First meeting her at Five Branches Institute truly changed my life. My health was in a dire state of imbalance, and seeking Western approaches to remedy the problems resulted in more fear and turmoil. Every time I went to see a Doctor, it got worse. When the Doc finally decided that I had Lupus, I said, enough. I saw Maureen as an Intern for 9 months. I got better after every session, which was a remarkable improvement over the Western based experiences. I believe that the treatments and their effectiveness was based on Maureen's intent. Her demeanor is inspiring and her treatments reflect her regard for balance. \r Her practice is thriving, and from experience, her tactics for pain reduction are amazing. From migraines to PMS, knee pain to shoulder pain, after one visit, you can expect to exclaim how much better you feel. But the most amazing treatment I ever received from her was 3 years ago. I was nauseous for literally 4 months, couldn't keep anything in when I finally paid her a visit. Some ShaoYang thing, she said the virus was stuck neither internally nor externally. She treated me there, and then left some small tacks in my wrist for me to tap every time I felt sick. She gave me a formula, and by the next day, I was back at work after having 2 meals that didn't make me feel sick. Truly amazing. How many Western Doc's can boast such results?!\r I know that she is also treating more and more fertility cases these days, too. more

Outstanding Acupuncturist! 4/8/2008

As a psychotherapist, I have found the acupuncture services provided by Maureen to be extremely effective\r for a multitude of physical and emotional issues. Every client I have referred has been very satisfied, as have I.\r People I have known who have been treated by Maureen have received relief from anxiety, depression, back pain, allergies as well as infertility and weight loss. Her office and therapeutic approach is warm and inviting. more

scared of needles!? 4/8/2008

ok, so pretty much everyone i know has had acupuncture and some say good things and some say bad things. i pretty much avoided it my whole life until i started having severe allergies, eye twitching, insomnia and excessive body heat all at the same time!! I ran to Maureens office in need of some serious help! she made me feel so comfortable and after the first session i felt so much better. the needles are so small and virtually painless. within a month all of my stress-induced ailments were completely gone and haven't had anything back for almost a full year! thanks mo! Pros: professional tasteful environment, exceptional service Cons: parking more

love her! 4/8/2008

As a professional in the Healing Arts field, I have been to many practitioners over the years. I have to say that Maureen is everything that I look for in a Healer. She is knowledgeable, accessible, thorough, gentle, down-to-earth, warm and professional. Most importantly, Maureen gets results. She has made a positive impact on my health and my work. I feel lucky to have her as part of my personal health ?team?.\r ~ Gina B. Pros: You, but better Cons: needles more

Converted a skeptic! A thoroughly modern traditionalist. 4/8/2008

I've been seeing Maureen for 2 years or so, and I am more impressed with each visit. I look forward to them. \r \r I'm something of an athlete, although with no real background as such, so my body understanding is evolving and my treatment needs include but are not limited to athletic ones. I'm open-minded about treatment modalities, but I am pretty empirical about outcomes. I've had massage treatment for many years, and I wanted to add a supplemental ""alternative"" treatment. \r \r I was really pleased that her treatments addressed some concrete long-term problems for me: shoulder, neck, periphormice (sp?), foot, and sleep problems as well as helped me run 3 marathons in 2 years and heal a sprained MCL! Try getting your MD's insurance to help you do that ;-)\r \r She's a great listener; seeks mutual understanding of the problem; can customize treatments to your needs and comfort-levels; and, she takes insurance (she did 2 years ago, but I don't have any, so I pay cash). She helped me be fearless about getting needles in my feet! That's good - crazy, but good. \r \r I believe she has backgrounds in exercise, body movement, and community-based public health, as well as being bi-lingual, so she can ""meet you"" in most any place/space you want to work with her, metaphorically speaking: physical, energy, or spiritual. \r \r Her office is calm and groovy in a cool neighborhood accessible by bus, train, and car. Very nice, but real, too. \r \r So yea, Maureen is All That. Call her now! Pros: Office, her confident feel for the tools, good listener Cons: Multiple private rooms are in use at one time, so her timing of appnts can be off occasionally more

Great Acupuncturist for Fertility 4/8/2008

I am sitting here at age 41 writing as my 4 week old baby is rocking gently by my side. Maureen is very easy to work with, a sweetheart and she is a great help to women who are trying to conceive. Once I was pregnant, she also helped me stay pregnant. I was only trying for four months and after six weeks working with Maureen, I conceived at age 40.\r \r She is a no pressure, wonderful acupuncturist and I highly recommend her!! Pros: everything! Cons: parking in her neighborhood more

Amazing! 7/12/2007

Maureen Raytis is spectacular. I came to her as a first timer in the world of acupuncture. She made me feel comfortable and at home from the moment I entered her office. She was very easy to talk with and actually listened to what I had to say. I have had back pain for years that nothing seemed to help. I felt as though my only option would end up being surgery. Maureen took the time to explain a plan to put me in recovery instead of on the road to it. After two visits, my pain was almost completely gone. I got to a point where I was able to ride in AIDS/Lifecycle 6!! In case you don't know, this is a 545 mile bicycle ride from SF to LA. Not only was I able to do the ride, but Maureen offered her services to other AIDS/Lifecycle 6 participants. Maureen is dedicated to her work and her work in the community. She is truly out to make a difference in this world, and she certainly made a difference in mine. Pros: excellent service and care more

Wonderfully effective care. 7/10/2007

Maureen is the best accupuncturist I've been to (and I've been to several in the bay area), she has helped me heal issues that had been tagging along with me for years. I came to Maureen with a monthly cycle that was WAY out of whack...basically bleeding most days of the month (!) and having gotten worse over the course of 2 years. Within a few treatments my cycle was returning to normal and I was sleeping better and feeling more calm to boot! Turns out my symptoms were connected - the anxiety and insomnia were related to the cycle being thrown off. Now my cycle is actually more regular than it has ever been (30-31 days each time). The herbs Maureen prescribes continue to help with stress and insomnia. This woman knows her stuff. Now I only go in for a little maintenance, a ""tune-up"" if you will. It is always a pleasure to talk with Maureen and be in her care - and her office is lovely too. I trust her to help me with any health issues I have...Oh, and my friend tells me she cured him of some chronic tendonitis that had been bothering him for months. Go see her, she's attentive and positive and she'll help you! Pros: cozy office, free parking under the overpass! more

Knowledgeable, effective healthcare practitioner 7/1/2007

Maureen is a phenomenal practitioner of Chinese medicine. Her medical and relational skills are exceptional. I am an acupuncturist in San Francisco and I exclusively refer any East Bay patients to her. She has a great bedside manner, works integratively with conventional physicians and health care practitioners, has advanced post-graduate training in Chinese medicine, and is an accomplished writer (on the subject of Chinese medicine). She is a smart choice for a healthcare practitioner. more

Fantastic acupuncture - fast relief! 6/26/2007

I went to Maureen Raytis for acupuncture to heal a chronic low back pain issue that had turned into sciatic pain. I was pretty much unable to bend or walk comfortably and had shooting pain through my low back and hip. Maureen placed several needles in my left hand and wrist which IMMEDIATELY relieved the worst of the pain. After 30 minutes or so my entire low back was free from pain and much more mobile.\r I will definitely be coming back to Maureen the next time I need acupuncture - she is AWESOME! I have never had acupuncture work so quickly or thoroughly. Pros: mellow office, really friendly practitioner who listens well, free parking nearby more

Excellent healthcare 6/19/2007

Maureen Raytis is a great acupuncturist. She's thorough, effective and persistent in finding ways to help her patients heal. I had been suffering from a knee injury for more than a year and was walking with limp when I first sought help from Maureen. Within a few sessions my pain decreased, then disappeared, and soon I was walking with ease. I especially appreciated that she tried different ways of treating the injury and was quick to suggest other modalities and things I could do for myself that would speed along my recovery. I recommend Maureen without reservation. more

In-tune with her patients. 6/15/2007

I initially came to see Maureen for severe pms/cramps/bloating (you name the monthly symptom, i had it) and clammy hands and feet ? weird, i know. But Maureen didn't think so, in fact she knew exactly where to begin and how to treat my ""issues"". Each session, Maureen would infer how my body was reacting to the acupuncture and herbal treatments before I could even tell her (she is that in-tune with her patients) and adjust my treatments accordingly. \r \r Before my treatments with Maureen, I would always know when my period was coming because of my pms symptoms (forget the calendar!) but for the past two months, I was caught off guard when my period came because my symptoms were were slim to none! \r \r Now, my sweaty hands and feet have not been as quick to respond, but Maureen is diligent and following my last treatment I was completely dry for two days straight! A freakin' miracle and it's only getting better with each treatment!\r \r While seeking treatment for my primary ailments, Maureen noticed that my allergies were flaring up. I didn't even mention it to her because at that point, they weren't that bad. She treated me for them anyway. As weeks passed and allergy season set in, EVERYONE around me was suffering and i barely even sneezed! \r \r I could go on-and-on about Maureen, but just go see for yourself. She is truely wonderful. more

how do i make it six stars? 6/15/2007

i have serious sinus issues, everytime i eat cheese i get a sinus infection (can you say lactose intollerant?) between maureen's treatment and the chinese herbal formulas she prescribed my sinuses have never been better, even when i eat cheese, yahoo! maureen has a fabulous bed-side manner, her kindness and compassion put me at ease, on top of that she's a snappy dresser too! part of the joy of having a treatment with maureen is seeing her cute outfits. Pros: effective treatments, good energy Cons: you have to walk up stairs to get to her more
