Best

We had a great time at Matt's. The food was good as always and the staff top notch. Our service was efficient and friendly. We will be back!

Worst

Waitstaff very inexperienced...taking away my utensils before I even used them. Food was ok but over priced. If it was a couple $ cheaper, it would be worth it.

Not good 8/30/2011

Good: The waiter was friendly and helpful. Bad: The steak was tough, USDA select commercial grade quality. Hardly 28 day dry aged. Clam appetizer portion small for the price. Crab and shrimp salad very small for $20.00.. Improvements: Great service. Expensive and poor quality food. Disappointing.. more

Better for Happy Hour 2/10/2009

I came here for happy hour and feel they have redeemed themselves at least to grant another star (compared to my previous rating). I thought the prices were reasonable for the value. I liked the crab and artichoke dip but pita chips would have been prefered over toasted bread. i thought the clams were tastey too. the roti chicken nachos was a large dish good for sharing except there was only a few pieces of chicken in the entire dish. I went on a weekday evening so it was much quieter than my last visit. i guess i'm not a big fan of this restaurant becuase i'm not a fan of fresh oysters. If you like fresh oysters you might really like this place. and again, they seem to put goat cheese on all their dishes. yuck. more

Yummy HH 2/10/2009

Went there last night for happy hour. All drinks are $1 off and appetizers are discounted. My favorites are Ahi Tuna, Crab and Artichoke dip, Nachos and Clams. Reasonably priced and very delicious. Services are great and typical week nights are quieter so you can have a great time with friends chatting and catching up or just have a chill evening quietly. I've been here for dinners as well, and you can read my reviews earlier times. more

Mediocre 8/18/2008

We came to this restaurant because there was patio seating and the weather was unusually hot. There were many people with the same idea. It was a friday night and it was LOUD. do not come here if you are hoping to share a conversation over your meal. we were sat next to the front door so whenever someone entered, the door would hit my chair. the food is just average. it seems like every dish has goat cheese in it! i'm not a fan of goat cheese. i'd like to see a bit more variation in their menu options. more

Cheap drinks 7/20/2008

I've been there for happy hour and dinner. Dinner was alright for me, it wasn't great. But happy hour drinks were actually strong and reasonably priced. more

Good stuff on the Eastside 3/17/2007

We met a friend of ours for dinner on March 6th, 2007 and had a nice experience with ordering dinner and drinks in the bar area of Matt's. The place was hopping when we were there around 730pm but our server was attentive and friendly the whole time even though she was clearly busy. First we ordered a round of oysters to share. We're always big fans of these and that evening we chose the Snow Creek and Kumamoto types for our dozen and those were gone almost as soon as they hit the table. Rick was enjoying beer and we had martinis (gin) and then switched to wine with dinner. Dinner consisted of the prime rib for me and Rick. I liked what was served with the prime rib but I have to say the cuts of meat we got were a little less than what we were expecting. Rick thought they tasted like ham initially and I think that came from the big slab of butter they put on both of our entrees. I agree with him though. The cuts were okay, but not fabulous. I'm sorry to say I can't recall what Michael had that evening. I know we'll come back but I usually keep my hopes from getting too high even though I know Matt's is one of the places that is considered on the higher end in Redmond. more

Allergy Bill 11/7/2006

I have a difficult time with most restaurants due to my food allergies. A plain steak and no butter on steamed veggies is what I like.... it sounds simple but rarely do I succeed. Matt's was similar in execution to many of my experiences. I ordered as I always do "no salt, pepper, au jus, no butter, no special or secret sauce, is it marinated?, I need it with nothing, dry and boring". I sent the first steak back because it was over salted - but the waiter questioned and the kitchen swore that there was nothing on it. The second one came salty... but no so bad. I was told again that there was nothing on the steaks until after they were grilled and then a lemon butter thing was put on unless you asked for nothing (I didn't get the lemon butter - whew!). When I called this morning to double check the chef said they salt and pepper everything on the grill. Clearly the kitchen staff is missing the meaning of "nothing". Salt and pepper are fine for me.... something when people say nothing could compromise their health. more

Matt's - Quick Office Lunch 8/8/2006

We (at our office) have been there several times. Matt's has friendly service and a nice (business appropriate) setting for a lunch. Last year we had our company Christmas party there, and I have had my last 2 employment reviews there. So to say the least I speak for several people at our office, in saying that it is usually our 1st choice for a quick lunch. My favorite is the Halibut Sandwich, the also have yummie salads. more

Great Middle of the Road Place 3/29/2006

Matt's Oyster House is a good casual date type of restaurant. It's kind of noisy, but the food is good. They offer a lot of steaks, fish, etc, and the service is usually good. Can get pretty crowded in there during peak hours, so reservations are recommended. It's a fun place to go for some casual dining. Lots of food, you never leave hungry. Hmmm...maybe it's time for me to go again! more

Yummy! 11/29/2005

Matt's Rotisserie and Oyster Lounge is located at the Redmond Town Center, but you'd never know you were at a mall once you step inside. It's really nice inside and the food is amazing. There are so many choices on the menu, everyone can find something to be excited about. Everything I've tried there is delicious! There is one private room for larger groups (10 or so). It's really nice! more

This place is worth a try. 10/5/2005

Granted, my friend & I each have 2 kids, so the liquor section at the grocery looks good to us, but we've gone to Matt's a few times and have always come away "happy". Good appetizers, oysters & drink. It's in Redmond Town Center, so you could catch a movie or do some shopping while you're there too. Have fun! more

Interesting variety of food, great place to go for business lunch 8/17/2005

Matt's is a great place to drop in for lunch with business folk--a decent variety of food, reasonable prices, and good service. The restaurant is located on the Gene Juarez side of Redmond Town Center (RTC). Rolls are served prior to entrées, just so you have something to nosh on. I enjoyed their Pulled Pork Sandwich, and my favorite entrée is their Mixed Grill, which includes grilled chicken, shrimp, and Andouille sausage with a honey-mustard sauce. I'm not a big coleslaw fan usually, but I do enjoy theirs. I do suggest saving room for dessert so you can try a Matt's Hot Chocolate--this year's KCTS Cooks included the recipe in their 2005 cookbook, and I bought it for that alone! The Hot Chocolate is actually a bittersweet chocolate soufflé with a milk-chocolate truffle inside, served with ice cream. If you're on a date, this is guaranteed to make the girls swoon. more

Great Seafood Chowder 8/17/2005

Great seafood chowder and daily specials. New policy is non-smoking until 9pm, so dinner can be smoke-free. Service is consistently good, but on the off chance that it isn't, they are very good about providing a complimentary drink or appetizer. more

A diverse and delicious place! 7/11/2005

Matt's serves a wide variety of rotisserie and seafood selections (oysters, fish, steak, chicken -- a pretty good variety of foods) almost all cooked over thier applewood fires. The open flame gives a great subtle taste! I've had a few different selections -- their fish and chips, their rotisserie chicken, and a few of their steaks. I have never been disappointed. Barring one exception, service has always been fantastic as well. Matt's is a great dining option and if you haven't tried it yet you need to! more

Great Eastside Bar 6/16/2005

Matt's in Redmond Town Center is a great place on the Eastside to have a drink or two with friends. The bar staff is always friendly and on top of refills and such. The appetizers are also pretty tasty. My moms groups recently had to relocate to Matt's after a debacle at Red Hook, and they accomodated us within minutes, the service was great, and the waiter even split the bill 14 ways without asking! It was a great night! more
