Best

Andrew was recommended by a (chic, well-to-do) colleague of my husband's at a local private school. (We're new to area.) Andrew was great; he listened well, w/ no attitude at all ...

Worst

Not a professional atmosphere, rude employees, and I was not even happy with how my hair looked. I have gotten better from a salon in a strip mall.

Andrew: Talented & *real* 6/9/2011

Andrew was recommended by a (chic, well-to-do) colleague of my husband's at a local private school. (We're new to area.) Andrew was great; he listened well, w/ no attitude at all --e.g., I was very honest that I was in a bit of a financial slump and while I was having him color my hair that time, I'd probably do it myself afterward. He treated me w/ respect; gave me some tips on making the best color choice among off the shelf products. He listened to me... and we also bonded talking about dachshunds. Great guy, great cut. I'm going back tomorrow. more

PROFESSIONAL 12/23/2009

I have always had great experiences at Matt's place - and return to B'more year after year for my haircut even though I've moved 30 mins. away. He is consistently professional and a great hair stylist! more

Cutting without asking first 8/26/2009

I went there today to get my bangs and hair trimmed, but ended up with the worst haircut of my life. The stylist Andrew cut random chunks of my bangs and hair short. It looks awful. I didn't ask him to do it either! He just gave me the ugliest hair cut I have ever had without asking. I part my hair to the side, as I told him, but he styled it so that I can't part it that way anymore. The worst part is these horrible uneven chunks and ridiculous bowl-cut bangs. I have done a better job standing over my bathroom sink with sewing scissors! All I wanted was a a basic trim. I will never, ever go back there or tell anyone to use their salon. more

Need A Good Hair Cut 8/3/2005

I met a man named Greg through a guy I used to know. He's one of the main people who works for a salon in Baltimore called Matthew John's Hair Salon. It's kind of a hidden salon in an almost alley-way kind of street behind Cathedral Street in Baltimore, not far from the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and University of Baltimore. This hair salon is phenomenal. The people are extremely professional and they know what they are doing. Greg has even worked on movies before he's so darn good at styling hair. Everyone should have access to a good hair stylest. To those of you who don't have one, here's your FYI: Greg is amazing. And they offer other things such as make-up, waxing and nail painting here as well. more
