Matthew Tully Hairdressing

I went to see Tania Tully on January 22, 2013 for a cut and color. I had taken a picture in of a cut I liked & she decided that I wanted the color in the picture as well. That was not the case. She said that my hair was damaged and that it was good that I was going dark. I kept saying not very dark. Maybe a little darker. I had blonde hair and by the time she was done, it was dark brown almost black. It was like I was talking and no one could hear me. The cut was just as bad, One side of my hair was a inch longer than the other side. There was no blending of the bangs. I called the next day and was told that they might be able to lighten it but I would have to pay for the supplies and sign a waiver. I was afraid that they would do more damage to my hair.\r \r I had used a gift certificate from a charity auction for the “services” at Matthew Tully so at first I was only out $30 tip. I am not sure why I tipped. I was in shock and had no idea how bad the cut was. I ended up spending about $30 and two days trying to get the color to lighten on my own before going to my regular hairdresser who fixed everything at a cost of $196. I would like a refund of the $30 and to be reimbursed for the $196. This was the worst service I have ever received. If she cannot cut hair evenly she shouldn't be cutting hair. And, oh BTW my regular hairdresser said that there was no real damage to my hair except at the ends which probably happened when I used prell, dawn dish soap and vitamin c to get the color out of my hair. more

Amazing salon! I have been coming here for years and LOVE this place so much. They have treated me like Royalty every single time I have been in. From the moment I walk in the door to the moment I leave I am being pampered! I love my hairstyle so much (no one has ever been able to cut my hair right until I met Matt) My color is spot on everytime. The salon is beautiful and located right in the heart of uptown, I recommend this salon to anyone wanting to feel and look like Royalty! more

We just moved to Dallas and I was in NEED of a new hairstylist! I went to Mag at Matthew Tully Salon and he is AMAZING! I sat in the chair and told Mag what I wanted.... He did not try to pressure me in to doing anything I didn't want and He brought me back to my Platinum Blonde hair I had been missing! Mag is AMAZING with color and VERY sweet! Love him for what he did to my hair and am so happy i found a stylist that does exactly what I want :). more

i got exactly what i wanted in the end,we had to spend a little time talking about our ideas , which they took as much time that was needed,they didn't rush on my hair at all,the color was great and i love my cut,if you are very specific about what you want,just take time to communicate what you want and you should love it!!!!!!!! The guy that cut my hair had no idea what he was doing. Mt sister got her hair cut at the same time and it looked worse then before the cut. They only take cash but have no change for larger bills. I went in with a picture of what I exactly wanted. The base color that they gave me turned out to be a bit darker than what the picture showed but I was happy to get the color out of my hair that had been driving me crazy. It was more expensive than I thought it would be but oh well I paid for what I asked for, I think =). I was pleased, and now, a few months later I like the way the color looks even more. They were extremely nice to me and I felt comfortable. I have a ton of hair and they worked well with it. Nothing over the top, but like I stated above, it was good. My highlights were placed nicely around my face and I'm sure I will go back. I do think though, that 4 stars is too much yet 3 too little so i leaned towards 4 because I had to choose. I recently moved to Dallas and was very nervous to find a good hair dresser that would meet up to my high expectations after going for a very long time to an excellent salon in the Atlanta area. Brannon, aside for being very pleasant went out of his way to give me the hair style I wanted to re-shape and touch up my highlights with out me telling him much. I as well as my family and closest friends have been going to Matthew Tully Salon for five years. I have literally had every stylist in there help with my hair or style do to the fact that I am one of there neighbors and am always around. To many salons this would be annoying and intrusive but at Matthews salon they greet me with a smile and accommodate me everytime. I haved lived in Los Angeles as well as my brother and have gone to every supposed hot shot salon in West LA and Beverly Hills and can say when we would fly home we always had an appointment booked with Matt's salon. I have always referred my friends and family to this salon and will continue to in the future because i know that they are the best in Dallas. Pros: amazing and friendly staff, great ambiance, cater to all clients styles Cons: none I can think of more

I went to Matthew Tully for years. When the main talent (Brian) recently left the salon I was very disappointed. I tried a different stylist but they were average. Matthew has even done my hair and I was not impressed. At all. There are better options in Dallas that have a much nicer salon, cooler vibe and more talent. When Brian left the salon they lost the best colorist in town. I won't go back. Pros: The color pink all over the walls can brighten your day Cons: talent, salon atmosphere, parking, amenities, etc. etc. more

I have been going to Matthew Tulley Hairdressing for almost 6 years! I have never had a bad style! Matt is so nice and full of ideas and knowledge. Ian has been my lifesaver many times! He listens to me, and all my demands, and makes my hair even better than I could imagine. He is a true artist! I have so much fun everytime I go to the salon! Pros: Skill is so up-to-date, always learning more, they listen to you but still put in their 2 cents. Cons: Really can't think of any! more

When I relocated to Texas from Florida nearly 3 years ago, I was dreading the hunt for a new stylist. I was referred to a place by a former friend and it turned out to be a hack job. I had no clue where to turn when a co-worker referred me to Tonia, who was able to fit me in immediately. Once in the chair, I received a full evaluation of my cut, color, highlights, etc. I was so impressed with the time Tonia took to listen, evaluate and make recommendations. The rest is history...I look forward to my appointments and catching up with Tonia on life. She always listens to what I am contemplating doing to my hair and then she gives me her expert opinion. I now have healthy hair as well as a friend for life! Pros: Starbucks next door, friendly staff, ability to book an appointment weeks out, awesome results every time, etc.. Cons: None come to mind! more

I've been going to Tania for over 2 years now, Matt also did my hair for my wedding, and all I can say is that my hair always turns out beautifully. I don't even tell Tania what I want anymore. I trust her with my cut & color and like I said I'm always blown away!! I moved to Houston last year and I still drive up once a month to get my hair done with her and I wouldn't go to anyone else. I love the atmosphere and I absolutely love being there--oh and I love the compliments that I get on my hair.... Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Oh Thank Goodness!!! After the upsetting departure of my long term Dallas and a couple of horrendous cuts elsewhere I think I have gotten lucky again! I visited Colby at Matthew Tully hoping that my 1980?s throwback cut would disappear and I would once again by current and look 30 (my age!), not 60 ? which was happening! I have been a client of Tonia's for 5 or so years and my husband has been a client of Matt's for about 7 years. I cant say enough about both of them. Not only are they great people, but they are amazing hair stylists!! I always walk out of the salon with an amazing hair cut and color. My husband and I refer EVERYONE we know because we know the great level of service they will receive. If you are looking for a new stylist give Matt, Tonia or Ian a try you wont be sorry! I have been a client of TANIA Tully's since the salon opened, and I was shocked to read the review entitled ""Bait & Switch."" I have NEVER had a bad experience with her and my cut and color always comes out looking great! In fact, I had to ask Tania for some of her business cards because I am constanly being asked who my hairdresser is....everyone loves my hair! I have reffered over a dozen friends including my mother and mother-in-law! We all love Tania and would not go to anyone else. Don't believe that awful review....I have never EVER seen Tania in a bad mood and she is ALWAYS on time with a smiling face...she is an amazing stylist and an even better person! I would rather have 3 inch roots than go to anyone else! Pros: Great location, friendly NEW receptionist (the old receptionist was cranky at times), and amazing service! Cons: nothing! more
