Best

I just came home from eating at Massa's for the first time and I have so many compliments about this place that I can't even write them all down! First, the food was just perfect....

Worst

Took wife on Valintine Day, and was very disappointed. Food was ok but not good. the ambiance is non-existant. Space looks like an upscale Denny's.

No Headlines? 5/30/2009

Why have there been no reviews of Massa's Seafood in the past two years? Is the restuarant no longer open? I loved this place when I worked Downtown. But now there seems to be no review activity at all. Any clues? more

You won't believe what you're missing! 10/5/2007

I just came home from eating at Massa's for the first time and I have so many compliments about this place that I can't even write them all down! First, the food was just perfect. Our table of four ordered the trout almondine, red snapper (the ENTIRE fish!), and the tuna steak all to share. Each dish was amazing, but I have to say that the trout was certianly my favorite. The house appetizer of crab cake, shrimp, etc. was also exceptional (according to my family...I have a gluten allergy, so everything fried is off limits to me). My fiance and I are looking to do our Rehearsal Dinner at Massa's and, after our experience tonight, there is no question that Massa's is the place! We had read great reviews about the restaurant, but I gotta tell you, it met and exceeded all of my expectations. Joe Massa could not have been a nicer, more sincere guy. He came to our table, spoke with us about our menu options for the party (I certainly didn't expect him to do this, which was very impressive), he even had the waitress bring us whichever deserts our hearts desired from the menu so we could try a number of dishes. We left with full stomachs, happy hearts, and would be back again next weekend in a heart beat. Right across from the Four Seasons with window views of Lamar St., our table by the window was private, yet right in the middle of the everything. Massa's nice sized banquet room is perfect for parties up to 75, and the group of people they had in there tonight certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's the perfect place to convene a large group of people for a private, laid-back but quality kind of meal. Joe and Massa's exceeded all of our expectations, and it made the decision of picking a Rehearsal Dinner spot the EASIEST decision I have made since our wedding planning started. Thanks Joe for such a wonderful evening! Looking forward to having Massa's help us celebrate our wonderful occassion in great style...it can't be here soon enough! Your newest fan, Nicole Pros: Validated parking downtown, Quality food, excellent service more

Best Seafood in Houston 8/22/2007

I've been to Massa's Seafood 3 times and each time i go i get the mango barbecue shrimp because it is always fresh and absolutely de-lish. The service is always top-notch and the plates are always colorful and well-prepared. Pros: great service more

Great option for eating out downtown 11/21/2006

I totally forgot about this restaurant. It really is quite good seafood as I recall. the problem is when we go for a show downtown we are usually rushed so we aren't able to sit down and enjoy a meal without shoving the food down our throat. That is the reason we haven't returned in awhile because if we go here after the game or like that it is ok but if we need quick service this isn't really the kind of restaurant to go tol Pros: Good food and service Cons: not for a quick bite... more

Best seafood in downtown! 8/9/2005

As the Concierge for a major luxury hotel, I am pleased to have an excellent place to send guests. Massas Is both affordable and convienent. The blackened tilapia is devine and their specialty martinis are a must! I recommend it for both business and pleasure. They also have two very large private rooms in the back perfect for meetings and functions. Pros: atmosphere, presentation, service Cons: parking more

Great place to eat and relax with friends 5/15/2005

When you walk in the door you just feel that this place is going to be great. The banquet room gives you the exclusiveness you want for a party. The service is good and the food was hot. The shrimp brochette's melt in your mouth! Save room for the Italian Cream Cake or like us take it to go! Massa's is a great place to go before an Astro's game. Our kids (ages 5-8) love to ride the Trolley and eat ice cream at Massa's. Thanks guys. Pros: easy access, relaxing, good ambience Cons: garage prkg(day) hard, must RSVP holidays more

Downtown Option 8/17/2004

Massa's Seafood Grill was a delight. The portions of food were very generous, the waiter was great, and the prices were very reasonable. Thought parking was a problem, then found out that Massa's can validate parking in the garage that is attached to the restaurant, so it will be easy next time. There are a few hidden treasures on the wine list, look past the ""names"" and get to the little known part of the list that contains some pretty good values. Pros: Reasonable price, good parking, good wine list more

Not as good as rated 2/14/2003

Disappointed 2/14/2003

We Make reservation on 2/10/03 for Valentine's day 7:30 pm. We've called in to confirmed the reservation before we go, and they've lost our record. I was looking forward to dine at this place based on the rating, and now we have no where else to go, and all the nice resturants are all booked. more

Best shrimp in Houston 1/8/2003

Fantastic service, excellent atmosphere and a shrimp lover's dream. Salads and desserts are really good too! more

Staring Shrimp 10/30/2002

Massa's is a wonderful restaurant, great service, great food, great atmosphere. I only have one problem. I ordered a shrimp dish and when it came to me, it had the entire shrimp on the plate, head, tail, body, etc. It completely freaked me out. I just don't want to see the entire head of the food that I am eating. The waiter was very gracious and had the chef cut off the heads, but the damage was done. They did not charge me and were apologetic. It was handled in a very professional manner. I would have paid for it, simply because it is just my own strange taste. more
