Mashy's Salon is a rather inconspicuous little shop in Dallas, one that you wouldn't notice unless you were actively searching for it. I read about it in Allure Magazine, where it was listed as one of the best places in Texas for eyebrow grooming. I scheduled an appointment, and had my eyebrows ""threaded"" by Mashy (the owner of the shop). Threading is an Indian technique that utilizes two threads, which are twisted together and moved in a threading motion along your skin. Somehow, this works very quickly and effectively to pull the hairs out by the roots, with particular precision. I chose this because, after waxing my eyebrows a few years ago, I STILL have breakouts along the eyebrow area where the wax caused significant pore inflammation. Prior to the process beginning, I specifically stated that I wanted my eyebrows to look groomed but natural, that I did not wish to end up with overly-shaped or pencil thin eyebrows. She followed my wishes perfectly, and I will certainly see her again for eyebrow maintenance. - Oh, i'm sure that some of you would like to know about the pain factor for threading: it is not pleasant, but no worse than waxing (and much easier, as there is no clean-up required afterwards), though threading takes a bit longer. A bit of advice: No matter which salon you're at, be very very specific when you tell a technician what you want the end result of your eyebrows to be - I've seen many women end up with terrible results because they failed to make their wishes known, or did not explain clearly enough. And remember, eyebrow hair does not always grow back after removal - this is why it's so important not to overgroom your brows.
Pros: Price, cleanliness, skill
Cons: atmosphere (a little too clinical, don't expect "posh")
