Go Morrocan at Marrakesh 6/26/2006

If you dig the Indian and Thai food, you should treat yourself to a Moroccan dining experience. The foods are extremely tasty and at Marrakesh, you eat in what looks like a tent (from the inside anyway) on traditional furniture and ornately inlaid tables. You eat the foods with your hands, and after you're all sloppy and full, your host comes around to wash your hands in rose-scented warm water. You won't leave hungry. more

Unique, Eclectic, and Delightful Experience if you have an open mind and clean hands 5/9/2006

I've gone to the Marrakesh in Portland, and now the one in Seattle. Had a great time! It is definately an unusual dining experience - you do eat with your hands. I went for my birthday with a group of friends, and decided to get the suggested family style sharing with everyone. The chef picks out several dishes for your main meal, and you all share them. I probably wouldn't do that again, though. It is one thing sharing the desert and the appetizer, where everyone can break off a piece or dip their bread in, and quite another to have everyone manhandling the same piece of chicken. more

Great ambience & very different experience 12/6/2005

I visited Marrakesh with a group of 3 other people, so we could enjoy their group meal which is quite special. 4 different courses of dishes. Each course had very distinct flavors and presentation. They bring a large bowl to your table to wash your hands with rose water before dessert! They have a belly dancer there some nights, so call and pick the right night for you. A warning to the non-adventurous: You will need to eat with your hands so be prepared. Our server refused to give us a fork & knife, which is the only reason I haven't rated this a 5 star. more

Mixed feelings on this place 10/20/2005

I went here for a friends birthday once, and we were all pretty excited by the concept. When you go in, its got the middle eastern decor like you would expect and you sit on cushions or a bench at the tables. The one thing that threw me off was the lack of silverware. Now, I am not a prude when it comes to this kind of thing, but when eating something like cous cous, this issue was too apparent. The food was pretty tasty, but I don't remember there being a large variety of ingredients. I do remember a lot of starch and carbs though and walking out of there uncomfortably full. Definitely worth a one time experience, just not sure on how many repeat performances would occur. more

Good value for a nice dinner and show 8/5/2005

go there on Friday or Saturday and there will be belly dance performance. Do make a reservation a few days before you go, the place is small and filled up very fast. Their combination meal is about $18 I believe and it's fun. A good place for friends gathering. more
