Best Long Island Iced Teas 7/12/2010

The Marquis II has to be the only place that the cheap alcohol is both good and bad. I usually go to this place on Tuesday nights for their Texas Teas special. There are 16 oz long island iced teas for 6 dollars. I had always heard of my friends going here before they went anywhere and then cancelling any other plans that they had after they had about two teas each. I found this place to be kinda run down and old school, but I think that adds to the charm of the place. There are two things that you do in an establishment as classy as the Marquis II and that is to a) drink and b) to put money into the Jukebox. I know, because I've done both. The Teas are delicious and the place is close to where my friends live. I think that this is a perfect combination for both memories and for poor decisions. I like a bit of surprise when it comes to both. Pros: Cheap Cons: Cheap more

Great Long Island Iced Teas 11/20/2006

Tuesdays are Teasdays here! You MUST try their long islands....they are the BEST in Houston! The bar itself is a little "hole in the wall" that all the college students and alums know about. It is a great location to sit and socialize and enjoy a good drink with good friends! more

Best cheap drinks, a smoker's paradise! 10/12/2006

Look for me at the end of the bar. I like my drinks and they know how to make them at the Marquis. As far as bartenders, no one beats Al. If I'm ever down he picks me up, cheers to the entire staff. Go ahead and pour me another, I'm on my way. Pros: Me Cons: dirty floors, ooe more

Thursday nights 8/6/2002

They replaced the chairs, the updated the jukebox, but the character of the "Marky Duh" remains the same. Cold beers and Iced Teas, aging Aggie/Longhorn frat boys, Rice nerds (the Lovett cheer is scribbled on the mens' room wall), and ladies tired of having to dress like a fashion show all come together in this little dive for a drink and a smoke. Thursday nights here are the best! Pros: genuinely friendly, staff Cons: cops more

Catchy Title 6/24/2002

Great Dive!!! This bar has had and still has the best bartenders in Houston. And the best Long Island Ice Tea. Nice and dark inside so even you, yes you, can look good in *that* lighting. Between that and the teas, you are going to look like a hero. Good mix of older and younger people. It is the best hole in the wall I have found in Houston. Pros: Great Teas, Young and Old(er), Great Barstaff Cons: Old Pool Tables, No Food (if you care) more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Like a cross between a bowling alley lounge and a seedy poker hall, this chintzy, wood paneled bar plays host to older men by day and college students by night. After 10pm on weekdays, a steady flow of Rice and U of H students fill the room, slowly drowning out the TVs with their jukebox selections.

    The Draw

Even the most seasoned drinker will find it hard not to slur their words after throwing back a few of the 16-ounce Long Island Iced Teas ($4.50). Besides the Tuesday night tea special, the quickest route to a buzz is the expensive but potent Red Bull and vodkas ($9).
