THere are so many good dishes here - the jambalaya, turkey club on a croissant and the pot pies are my favorites. The Chinese chicken salad was great until they changed the recipe and took out some important ingredients. Good service and sometimes they have talented musicians playing there. more

Terrible Service, Subpar Food and Ridiculous Parking 6/19/2007

Went here for lunch and after spending 15 minutes looking for parking, it took our waitress another 15 minutes to come and take our order (including drink order!). Our food arrived 20 minutes later...let me clarify, MOST of our food arrived. My husband's soup was completely forgotten about until he was half way through his meal and I had to ask for a side of ranch twice before receiving. My glass of ice water wasn't refilled even once, though my husband's ice tea was, even though he didn't want anymore. After FINALLY getting done eating we asked for validation which took an additional 15 minutes, and would probably have taken longer had I not hunted down a busboy to find out where it was. I would not recommend this place and if you are wondering if it is a Marie Callenders, IT IS. The sign out front is misleading and is hard to determine that it is indeed owned by the same company. Go anywhere else. Pros: Can't think of a single Pro Cons: Parking, Service, Validation, Food more

Bad, over-priced food 9/6/2006

Unfortunately it's one of the only restaurants close to work...they often order food from there to bring in for late-nighters. Every time I've gotten food from there it's dissappointing. Tonight's cobb salad is the last straw. Who sends out to-go food with the dressing mixed in already?! ...sooo soggy and gross. Plus there's old pieces of dark green/brown lettuce mixed in. More gross. The location itself is nice - it's impressive for a Callender's, but the food is really over priced and not good. Have a cocktail there at happy hour - but avoid the food! Pros: cocktail hour, location, look Cons: bad bad bad food, over priced more

I was not prepared for the stature of this building when my family and I walked in, what a gorgeous building. Normally Marie Callender's is your typical family dinning restaurant typical of Chili's etc. But this location is something to behold, exquisite murals adorn the walls along with old B/W pictures from the 40's and 50's. They had an excellant pianist and bass player that was definitely bringing guests in as the bar and piano area were full. The service and food were what you would expect at the likes of Grand Lux and/or Houston's. I recommend the house salad and the artichoke dip(my wife was scraping the bowl) the Sizzling Ribeye was Perfect, pie was awsome. I will definitely make it a point to go this location in the future. In addition if you drink have one of their Martini's they are HUGE, alot for your money. Pros: Excellant Food, Great Drinks, Great Ambience Cons: Parking more

Great way to ruin an evening 8/17/2005

Started out getting our seating selection wrong.... closely followed by a rude/obnoxious Matre-D getting insulting with us.... some sort of privilege to eat there? Set the tone for the the evening. Complain to the manager, his solution: watch us like a hawk for the rest of the meal. Very uncomfortable. The food: Adequate, not good. Chicken dry, steaks tough/overcooked and the service inconsistent, leaning to poor. Long time to order: get the food, and it wasn't great at that..... even with the constant oversight my management. Thank goodness we had that, at least, or it would have been awful. The salad was good, but there are several fast food places that serve equivalent salads these days. Normally I'd have said that I was overcharged for the quality of food and service, but under these circumstances... horrendous. My recommendation: Drink heavily when you're there and you won't care so much. more

The Rolls Royce of Marie Callender's 3/28/2005

This Wilshire location is the Rolls Royce of Marie Callender's. I think it used to be an old bank or something. The interior has dark wood paneling; the ambience is heightened by the live piano playing. They also have a bar. I'm not a drinker but the bar is close enough to some of the tables that you can watch the Laker game while eating. I know that Marie Callender's connotes a blase, suburban strip mall image. But this location is completely the opposite. After you eat, walk across the street to the La Brea tar pits! Pros: beautiful interior, reasonable prices, short wait Cons: pay for parking ($2?) more
