the only place I go to get waxed 2/24/2010

I've been getting Brazilian waxes for 7 years and MARIA at Maria Bonita Salon does the fastest waxes that leave my skin not irritated. She gets the ingrown hairs and doesn't leave you all sticky, and she is done before you know it. I HAVEN'T BEEN TO ANOTHER SALON FOR WAXING since my first time here over a year ago. Once when I called for an appointment and didn't specify who I wanted to see Regina waxed me. She was a close second to Maria and Maria is the only person who has ever given me a better wax then Regina. I WOULD GO TO MARIA OR REGINA ANY TIME. I tell all my friends to go to Maria and they have become recurring clients too. Pros: quick waxing, lovely location more

I just got my first brazilian wax (actually my first wax ever) here and it was probably as pleasant as a brazilian wax can be. I had Roselie, who was very friendly and sweet and quick (thank God). It was not completely pain-free but the mild sting went away after about an hour. Definitely going here for my next wax. Pros: brazilian wax, friendly staff Cons: I had to wait a bit since the client before me took a while. more

i have faithfully visited maria at maria bonita salon for over four years. i go for full body waxes every month. maria is by far the most professional and expert esthetician i have ever used. she is neither squeamish or assuming, i actually have fallen asleep during my waxing. obviously, not during a brazilian bikini- but the discomfort is quickly replaced with gorgeous soft skin. as my mother would say, ""beauty is pain."" gratefully with maria, it is minimal, quiet and comfortable too. WAX in the City! 8/24/2009

Waxing is painful, but it brings such a pleasant feeling afterwards--the feeling of being clean, lighter and more beautiful! All thanks to Mariazinha, my lovely friend that has worked so hard for so many years in the salon business--can we say waxing business?--just to perfect her expertise in making all of us girls look prettier and sexier after a waxing session! I love it. I travel about 50 miles once a month just to see Mariazinha at this pretty salon on Prince street. What a location also! Even if I don't have time to do anything else during my trip, I am happy after 100 miles just for a waxing! But if you do have time after, you'll find yourself in the best location in the city. Get yourself a cup of coffee after that 15 minutes of waxing and go for a walk...and enjoy downtown! Mariazinha is exclusive, and I am always recommending her to friends. She is a hard worker, summer and winter. Whether she is feeling good or not, she is always there for you...not just as an excellent professional, but as a friend. I can't wait for the next visit! Maria one of the best! She is a perfectionist at what she does. She makes you comfortable, despite the awkward position. I've been going to this place for a while now, for haircuts, with Roger, he's fantastic and always fabulous, as he likes to say, hilarious and very energetic guy, excellent work. I decided to give it a try for the wax, and did it with Maria, she did an amazing job and didn't hurt, at least not the way I was expecting, very professional and on time, all of them. I also decided to go for Elvira and try the massage, and it feels like heaven, she's just great, great, it does feels like heaven. All good. Definitely worth it. Pros: good staff and service more

The Brazilian beauty scene is not as thriving downtown as it is uptown, so when spa owner Maria Fernanda Lacerda discovered a void of full-service salons amidst the well-groomed streets of Nolita, she got down to business. Born in 2003, Maria Bonita is one of the only full-service Brazilian salons to offer one-stop hair, nail, and waxing services, as well as facials and massages; it is also the only place in the city to use Bell Soft, a Brazilian line of hair and body products made of all-natural ingredients. The ground-floor hair and nail salon share quarters with a small waxing room, while quiet massage and facial stations are nestled on the basement level. Signature services include, naturally, Brazilian bikini wax.
