LOVE THIS GROVE 1/12/2009

Being a meat eater, it was an adventure to try an all vegetarian place, thanks to my vegan friends. As we entered the place, the place smelled great to begin with and i knew I cant goo wrong here. The music got me in a trance. The manager was helpful and gave me all the details about the CD and Artist they were playing. Oh by the way cant remember all the things we ordered and ate but it all was very impressive. My favorite was the large stuffed crepes. Mango Grove truly convinced me that there more to life than meat. All impressed with the incredible flavors and such huge selection it offers. more

The best food i've ever tasted, 12/17/2006

I've visited places just to try out Indian cuisine as found in India, the Mango grove comes out with full marks in my list of restaurant's in Columbia, the taste is excellent, the service is the most friendly I've been pampered with, the Gobi manchurian and the kumb makha mutter tops the list this is the most succulent dish I've ever tasted.the place is amazing the bald waiter is a perfect guy to ask for recommendation , he fits you right in with absolutely perfect choices honestly. You have to try the chai and the mysore coffee along with the jamuns yummy. more

Something Missing in the Grove 11/14/2006

I've given this restaurant 2 tries. I'm not going for a 3rd. I'm a vegetarian so I'm used to vegetarian food. During visit number 1 the food was ok. We were a party of 4 plus a baby. We stuck to the south Indian dishes. It was ok. Not awful, but not the best. One of the dishes came out burnt, but the waiter took it off the bill. The 2nd visit tipped the scale. We were still a party of 4 plus toddler. The restaurant had one large table with a party of 20 to wait on. It took about 10 min to be seated. It took another 20 for someone to come to the table and take the order, and that was after we flagged someone down. They were busy with those 20 paying customers. When the food came out, an hour later, not exaggerating, it was drenched with chili pepper to the point of where the taste severely suffered. I love spicy food, & eat chilies on the side. I can take spice, even hot thai spice. I cook & eat indian and chinese food regularly. But this tasted awful. There were 2 very different dishes that we ordered that tasted exactly the same. The service was beyond horrible, it was rude. When we complained to the waiter he rudely said, "you're just going to have to wait, can't you see the big table there, they are all ahead of you". I'll never set foot in that place again. more

Wonderful Vegetarian Indian Food! 3/28/2006

Mango Grove is a completely vegetarian restaurant with a lot of vegan options. The menu marks which meals are vegan. They also have a lunch buffet. The buffet does not have markers for vegan items, but the employees are more than willing to show you which items are okay and which to avoid. In addition to being friendly to adult customers, the employees all seem to enjoy children, and try to make your child's dining experience as good as possible. more

vegetarian+indian=delicious! 9/20/2005

I found Mango Grove shortly after moving to Columbia, and have been enjoying its food for nearly 2 years. Hubby and I both dine-in and carry out. The menu is extensive, plenty of options, lots of different flavors. I recommend the appetizer sampler, it's large and gives you a chance to try a bunch of different dishes, plus 2 sauces. My personal favorite entree is the Malai Kofta, but I have enjoyed everything I've tried. Prices are reasonable, and it's usually quiet, full but not overcrowded. Closed on Tuesdays, which sometimes throws me off! more

More than just mangoes! 8/21/2005

One of the best things about this place is the food is really healthy and taste great. A lot of restaurants think that just because something is vegetarian and doesn't have meat in it, it shouldn't have taste either. This place serves delicious cuisine and I love the fact that it lets me order what I want online, so it is ready for me when I come in. Great for lunch and dinner--it's one of my top ten restaurants. more

Best Indian Food in the Area 8/16/2005

This is the best Indian food that I have had. And the service is great! All of the workers are so polite. The lunch buffet is very inexpensive, I think it is like $7 or $8 and it is huge. This buffet has more selection than I have ever seen in a buffet. There are alot of appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Everything here is vegetarian, but they are supposed to open a non-vegetarian restaurant across the hall. My favorite dishes are the chana saag, chana masala, the vegetable korma and the avial. If you're not the buffet type, the carry out portions are huge. Don't forget to order bread-my favorite is batura-I think that's how it is spelled. more
