Mandarin Garden Restaurant

I spent the last 20 years enjoying Mandarin Garden. Unfortunately the business is not longer in this location. They recently closed. I am hoping that they re-open again. This is the restaurant that introduced me to to Chinese food and took me from my 20s into my 40s with plenty of memories. The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had as well as the Kung Pao (Princess) Chicken. more

I have to admit.. this was my first time ever to visit Mandarin Garden. I have lived in Hixson on and off all my 51 years, and have never eaten there! Why on earth did it take me this long to try it! It is worth every penny! Not expensive and OMG the amount of food you get for your money! The food was delicious, the service was great. Our waitress, very friendly. I have to tell you, it was 9:15 pm when we arrived, there was only one other family there. You would almost expect to get not so good food right at closing time. The food was fresh and great. We left at almost 10:20 pm and I apologized for coming in so late, the waitress said no worries we aren't closed yet. I will definitely be going back again! Wondering why it took me so long to go in the first place! more

I have been going to mandarin garden for a long time and the food is always good. Jimmy knows who you are and goes out of his way to make you feel special. I don't feel that the perices are high they are in line with what you would get if you went to any other chinese restaurant and had them wait on you. I walked into Mandarin Garden and I was immediately seated, which is to me always a good sign. I never like to sit and wait for a seat. My date and I got our drinks quickly, and our server named Vickie was very polite and helpfull. I ordered Mongolian Beef, which I have had before, but not like this. My date ordered the simple, but nice Seasame Chicken. we had so much food that we both had to take a togo box for the next days lunch. Also, it was the best Mongolian Beef I have ever had. It was tender, rich with flavor, and it had onions. The only problem I had with this restaurant was that I would have really liked some hot and sour soup, and a eggroll for the price, but it was a great restaurant, and I will definately be going back again. But it is not any longer....! They have raised the prices, reduced the menu significantly, and also reduced the quality of the food. Obviously, the feel compelled to compete with buffet Chinese, and cannot compete with Formosa, which is fist class! Pros: Easy to get too Cons: third rate food, etc more

Mandarin is a little more expensive than most Chinese places here, but WELL worth it. If you want the best deal, go at lunch time. Their lunch prices are fantastic, and you get a LOT of food. A+! more
