Beautiful Pools and Decor 6/12/2006

The Mandalay Bay is a beautiful resort at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. The giant gold tower rising out of the desert is a beutiful sight. The grounds of the property are expansive. There are many restaurants, a large casino area, unbelieveable pools, and a large convention center all on site. There are at least 4 pools that I saw, a wave pool, a few regular pools, a lazy river ride. At least one of the areas around a pool was coverend in sand like a beach. Everything about The Mandalay Bay is gorgeous, I suggest you check it out! more

The Nicest Swimming Pool in Vegas 5/31/2006

There are a few children, but it seems geared towards wealthy attractive young adults, Vegas is an Adult "Disneyland" and Mandalay http://www.mandalaybay.com/ is one of the nicer options, easily identified by its majestic walls of gold windows. If you would like to avoid some of that scene, make sure that you stay in the part of the site called "THE Hotel" instead! That said, the swimming pool scene is worth special mention: their large pool has 4' waves every 90 seconds; they have a "river" that runs 3 mph, among the other things. Where do the recent high-school grads get the cash to rent $600 - $1000 pool-side tents for the day? How many of those guys take steroids? The poolside drink prices are exorbitant, and the restaurants throughout are impeccable. If you need to go somewhere close by, take the free light rail instead of a cab! more

our weekend retreat 4/26/2006

The year my husband and I got married we went to Las Vegas for a weekend and we stayed at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. What a time that was, it was great! The shark reef was well worth the visit in itself - awesome! Our room was amazing, it was the biggest hotel room I had ever been in and the bed was so comfortable! It was very romantic and we were impressed with their hotel hospitality! Hoping to go back again soon! more

Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas 4/12/2006

The Mandalay Bay at Las Vegas is one of the more beautiful hotels that line The Strip. They have elegant overhangs on the casino floor which are pleasant. The Shark Reef they have is awesome; it is like an aquarium but without all the smell of an ocean like most aquariums have (for example, in Monterey, CA). Because this hotel is on the very end of The Strip, if you get the right hotel room you can see the entire Strip! more

Really nice! 4/9/2006

Nice pool area, great indoor aquarium…check out the shark tank and have your picture taken, too. SO HUGE that you can get lost in here, but isn’t that typical Vegas style. Lots to do and see, and it’s first class all the way. Definitely worth making this a part of your Vegas visit, whether you stay or just stop in to gamble and visit with the marine life! more

Best hotel I have stayed at while in Vegas 10/24/2005

I have been to Vegas quite a few times, and this was definitely one of the better hotels. They have a great pool area that is setup like a beach, a nice Casino with many nice restaurants, and a pretty good overall vibe. The rooms were nice, the bathroom was one of the biggest I have seen in Vegas, and it had a solid view to the mountains. When approaching the strip, you realize that while the other hotels are no slouches, this is one of the largest ones. From what I understand a few of the top floors make up the Four Seasons, and have their own private elevators, etc. I would stay at the Mandalay again, although, I wish it was a bit cheaper. more

Beautiful property, elegant and lovely 9/2/2005

One of the most important things at Mandalay Bay for me is the fragrance--I get deathly ill from cigarette smoke, and Las Vegas allows smoking pretty much everywhere. Mandalay Bay pipes in some sort of exotic, tropical fragrance into the air. It is very refreshing and lovely. The casino itself is very brightly lit, and you can barely smell the smoke, even if you're sitting in the same row as someone smoking, you can't really smell it. I also highly recommend at least one of the restaurants inside--House of Blues was absolutely wonderful to myself and a friend, who met there for breakfast. They do have a "Gospel Buffet Brunch" for which you need to buy tickets in advance. The line gets very very long, but you can just go in for a regular breakfast if you like--the staff is very sweet and helpful, and attentive (but not in an obsequous way). We had a great breakfast with amazing service. Mandalay Bay also has a lovely wave pool, and a lazy river--during summer, the river can get quite popular with kids , so you might be better off tackling it early in the morning, or late int he evening. I can't speak tot he rooms, but if the service towards the guests is anything like the service to random passerby, I don't think you can miss. There is also a monorail from Manadaly to the Luxor and the Excalibur--it's a great way to get down the Strip towards more central Las Vegas, and it's free. Watch their website for specials on rooms. more

The Hotel at Mandalay is Amazing... 9/2/2005

Hi there, I went to Vegas for my birthday a few years ago and we booked a block of rooms at The Hotel at Mandalay. This is a standalone luxury hotel which has no casino in it. Rooms are huge with a living room with flat screen TV and a separate bedroom. The cost was about $300/night, but we split that 4 ways. I'd highly recommend this if your budget permits. Another great option is the Luxor. Decent price/value balance and easy access to everywhere else. I've also enjoyed the Mirage. Cheers, Rahul PS: Looks like I may have spent too much time in Vegas... more

Great pool 8/29/2005

This is a beautiful hotel and resort. The building looks like gold at night and is very nice to look at. They have shuttle trains between mandalay bay and other casinos like Luxor so you don't have to walk all the time. The rooms are nice and staff is good, but what i like the most is that Mandalay Bay has that great big pool that is set up like an ocean with a sandy beach and waves. Pretty cool (although if this is what you want it may make sense to actually GO TO an ocean) and the hotel also has an aquarium. If you are with kids, they enjoy these kinds of things a lot... more

great Vegas hotel choice 8/23/2005

This is one of my favorite hotels in Vegas. It has a lot of attractions that are good for kids, but has some fun things for adults too! I love how the casino is airy and non-smoky, unlike other hotels. And the pool is simply amazing. It's designed to be like a beach and there's even a wave pool and a lazy river. Rooms are a cut above the rest, but then they are also a bit more expensive. more

Lots of fun and interesting things to do! 8/20/2005

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a great hotel to visit or stay at It offers a large variety of activities to do. It houses the Shark Reef. You can take a walking tour of different types of water life, including sharks! There is even a part where you can touch some of the sealife with your hands. There is also an event center that offers many different concerts, shows, tours, etc. Mama Mia is currently playing there too! more

Shark Reef @ Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino 8/13/2005

The Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino is a fun place to take your family. If it swims, you'll find it here. Sharks, crabs, eels, everything! It's a wonderful site to see and is among one of the best aquariums in Las Vegas at the moment. If you're ever around the Mandalay Bay, be sure to stop by and take a look at The Shark Reef. more

  • In Short
Outside the door of Red Square stands a decapitated statue of Lenin. The head only lasted a month before complaints by retired servicemen convinced Mandalay Bay to chop it off the replica of the Soviet Communist leader. Inside, however, everything Russian reigns. The red decor will match the blood rushing to your head after knocking back a Stoli. With more than 100 varieties of vodka, this is the center of the Vegas martini world.
