Disappointed - poor management 9/7/2011

Ok... the first part of this issue is ""my bad"". I let the LivingSocial coupon expire (by one day). However, when I called to see if they would be willing to extend it for one day and promised to bring in two additional people @ full price, they told me ""no"". I agreed to the T&C of LivingSocial and the expiration date.. so I really don't have much to complain about. However, what I did not like was that they tried to blame LivingSocial for NOT giving the extension... saying it was ""out of their hands"". When I told the reservationist that this is blatantly NOT true... because other businesses, companies, etc do extend offers as a courtesy, he started to stutter and was caught in a lie. To extend is up to the company NOT LivingSocial, With all this said... I realize it is my fault for letting the coupon expire... however, I didn't appreciate how they tried to blame LS. Just own up to it and say it is Manana's policy not to extend offers. I personally think in this tight economy that it would be a smart management decision to extend for ONE day, especially if said potential customer is willing to pay extra (at full price) for two additional people. Plus... who only drinks one Margarita? Come on... think it through. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Manana has sooo many customers that they don't need the new business. Sorry, Manana, you just lost a potential customer in me... more

A few of my friends and I stopped into this place on a whim for a few drinks after some much needed retail therapy. What a great find! The service was friendly, and the drinks were nice and strong! Awesome! 11/13/2009

The new Manana restaurant is amazing as I was walking down 61st I came across this Mexican restaurant. Part of the Serafina group I expected it to be good... and they did not let me down! Greeted by super friendly staff the environment was cozy yet hip....not your typical mexican restaurant decor! My server was not only friendly but very helpful when it came to navigating the menu! i will definitely go back there and tell all of my friends there is mexican on the UES! Pros: amazing guacamole, margaritas, food, and service Cons: tight seating more

As a well known magazine editor, I usually don't write on these sites--but this place is such trash I want it out of my neighborhood. I won't even give it the bad press by being in my magazine. more

UGHHH This is 2007 right? 11/19/2007

I experienced the most blatant acts of disrespect ever in my lifetime at lollipop. I arrived at 10:30 to a party where I was told by the door person after she went inside to check on things (who actually turned out to be very nice and apologetic about our experience) that I had to wait until the reservation was found. Now this wouldn't seem like such a big deal if 1) some of the party was not inside already and 2)other people were sauntering in and out with no reservation but to just go to the bar. We were told that men had to wear jackets and that was pretty insane because we watched as others past us wearing beat up sneakers and button down shirts only. When we were finally let in we were seated in a cramp space. The music was not that great, although there were a few oldies played. One person from our party was turned away because he had on a hooded t-shirt, meanwhile the NON NEW YORKERS sitting across from us had on not only a hooded shirt but a t-shirt and sneakers and he was smoking inside (I know there is a strict rule about this one in NYC public places). As the last of our group arrived (we were reserved for 20) they found themselves also turned away at the door. At this point we had enough and left , where the rest of the party continued at Pop Burger. On a scale of 1-10 in terms of pretentiousness w/o cause I would give this place a 20. Cons: everything about this place is a CON more

Best club on Thursday night!! 10/28/2007

Pros: Music, people, ambience, crowd Cons: Too busy sometimes, the door strict. more

Tasty morsels in a jewel box setting! 1/19/2007

Wonderful asian tapas. Hard to resist ordering more of everything!! Pros: Chic uptown spot with excellent cocktails and perfect nibbles Cons: Pricey and tiny more

Worst Service Ever! 11/30/2006

My friends and I had been wanting to check this place out for a while now and we were completely disappointed. First of all the place was empty except for the very rude waitstaff. After having every staff member examine our drivers licences they were taken to another bar to be scanned. My friend and I are both 24 years old, and hadn't even ordered drinks yet. When we asked what was going on we were told we could have our licenses back immediately and leave! The staff acted as if we were crashing their private party. We left without having drinks. With service like this I don't think this place will last to see next fall. So not worth the trip, save your time and money and go somewhere you'll be welcome! Cons: staff, small space more

Sensual fun 8/3/2006

Went to Lollipop for the 1st time with a group of friends last weekend. This place so so beautiful, chic, and cool. As soon as we arrived, we were seated at the star table, and was treated to VIP service all night. The music is hot, the decor is sensual, and the staff are attentive and fun. Will definitly be going back..probably tonight:) Pros: music, beautiful space, comfy seats Cons: small more
