Worst experience of our lives. Howard allowed our rental to flood for FOUR days before he returned our calls, and only after I found who the owner was through public record and left a message stating I was going to call the owner. Professionals came in and stated that the carpets had significant damage and needed to be replaced. A few days later 2 men came over to fix the roof. These were Howard's ""handy men"" and were only given instruction to fix the roof. They were not authorized to replace the mildew carpet. We could not utilize our bedroom for nearly 2 weeks due to the smell and damp carpet. Once the carpet was finally dry we had to have the carpets cleaned at our cost to attempt to minimize the smell. We moved out 2 months before our lease was up. Only to return to mow the lawn. We paid the months we were obligated to pay and wrote on our last check, that it was our last rent check. We received a request to renew our lease at which point I left a message (you will never get a live person) on their voicemail that we had vacated the premises and would not renew, a message he claims he never revived...convenient. After all was said and done not only we were charged for days that we never lived there, but we were also charged for smoke detectors, when there were none in the home. We were also charged for garage door openers, when we were never given any. Do anything and everything to run from Howard and his one man operation. He ignores you. Makes up fake charges and manipulates you in ever sense of the word. This man is a wolf in sheeps clothing. \r more

Howard is a professional and has always treated us with respect and courtesy. We have been renting from Management Associates for the past 2 1/2 years and are all set to renew our lease. Our experience has been positive, while there have been occasional delays in returned calls, the calls are always returned. I believe that some of the complaints in other reviews are the product of tenant ignorance or the property owners and not the management company. I think people sometimes forget that a property manager does exactly that, he manages properties for other people. He works for the homeowner and the tenant which is not always a comfortable place to be. To claim that the property manager is a crook or is somehow responsible for other people actions, (i.e. roommates who do illegal things or drunk people on your lawn) is simply ignorant and angry speech. more

Do not rent from Howard rowley he is a terrible terrible terribly shady slum loard. I livehad a roommate that was victimizing me I hadwas always in fear for my safety living with this psychopath with violent People crimes In his past history. So after money came up missing I wasconfronted him long story short I confrontedhad to get a protective order against him as he threatened to slice my throat . Enough was alwaysenough. my throatx roommate was furious I hadhad him removed. ashe slandered my reputation to Howard the police even my P.o. But. I had been drug free for over8 months Giving up clean random drug screen§ And in compliance with treatment and A P & p. We rented from managment associates from 2010 - 2012 and had no problems for the first few months. The apartment we rented was owned by an older couple who had gotten too old to manage their property so they turned the management to Howard Rowley. We lived without heat our first winter because he never sent a repair man. We signed a contract that prohibited us from using tobacco or alcohol on the premise but the older couple's daughter smoked and drank all around our house left beer cans on our driveway yard etc. and when I called to complain I had to leave a message because Howard is never available. He did return my call only to say there was nothing he could do. We finally got fed up after this woman would pass out on our lawn, drunk, or wander around in a drunken stupor or high on meth and decided to sell our lease we had multiple people lined up the take over our contract but Howard Rowley was not available to run their applications so they fell through the cracks and he prolonged the whole process.we could never get ahold of him. I had to serve him with a legal notice before he finally got out contract sold. He also changed the locks on the apartment while we were still showing the apartment to sell the contract and then charged us. He charged us to clean the apartment too even though we thoroughly cleaned it ourselves before moving out. He is a crook and a liar don't rent from him. more

Howard who is the sole employee of management associates is the worst property manager I have ever dealt with. If I could give a negative star rateing I would. He is not honest when talking about apartment conditions. I doubt he has ever been to any of the apartments listed with him. He doesn't care about your privacy. He will give out old leases with social security numbers on them. He takes a very long time responding to calls. I have been calling him for a month now and he hasn't returned my calls. My wife and I aren't sure if he is alive anymore, it's that bad. If I could say one thing to anyone renting from him or thinking about renting from him DON'T DO IT!! I am honestly surprised he is still in business. If the opportunity presents itself, run away as fast as you can!!!!! more

Worst Management 2/27/2012

I always pay our rent on time, fix little/minor things on my own, and keep my home clean. But my heat has been broken for over two weeks. Howard takes days to respond to my calls/e-mails and even then doesn't seem to care. If I could give negative stars, I totally would. He also glosses over lots of things about neighbors and apartment issues (we asked before we signed) to get you to sign a contact. I regret ever signing a lease with Howard as the manager. more

I feel much differently than the other reviewers. We have been renting from Howard/Management Associates for almost 2 years and it has been nothing but perfect. Howard might not answer his phone all the time, but in my experience, he always calls back. When minor home repairs have been needed, they have been resolved in a professional, timely manner. Howard is personable, kind and respectful. We have found that if we treat Howard with respect and pay our rent on time, everything is smooth sailing. more

I have had a bad experience with management associates especially from Howard. He tells us one thing and then a little while later its a totally different story. He is very inconsiderate and rude. more

Lacking communication, he does not go by the contract. I would like to hear more from others especially tenants. He used to be alright with us but currently he is handling things unprofessional. I would like to get a hold of some of the tenants and other home owners to see if there is anything we can do together.. more

An officer showed up at my home that I am renting on the 11th day. Had sent rent payment and to this day don't know if he recieved the check. I have never been a day late on my rent. Never had a phone call nothing just, served with a eviction notice and charged me an extra $100.00. Looking into the legal process with the court. There has got to be something done about the way Howard R. with Management Associates take advantage of people that are in hard situations. I had read all the reviews which made me alittle nervous but paying my rent on time is important to me so I thought it was a bunch of people complaining because they just didn't pay their rent. I was wrong!!!!! It is an issue with Management Asscoiates. more

Terrible property manager 10/22/2009

I was very interested to see the reviews above from previous tenants of Management Associates, LLC. owned and operated (if you can that operating) by Howard Rowley. They exactly match my experience working with Management Associates as a property owner. Howard charges me for repairs and then never sends me the invoices or work orders for those repairs. He promises to send me the information then never does. He keeps the entire deposits from the tenants then charges me for the entire cost of all cleaning and repairs. He takes a very long time (if ever) to return my phone calls. He continually violates the terms of our contract by incurring expenses on my behalf without seeking my approval and for expenses that exceed the contracted amount he is allowed. He also continually violates our contract by refusing to expose ""all records and books relating to my account"" as stated in our contract. I will be taking more serious actions against him. Worst Renting Experience Ever 7/21/2009

This is the worst management company I have EVER had dealings with. Repairs are very slow to happen and usually require multiple phone calls. He is never prompt on returning calls or emails, but if your rent is even one day late because of a holiday that slowed mail down, even if the rent was postmarked well before the due date you WILL be charged a late fee with no leniency whatsoever. You can never meet with him, all transactions take place by putting your rent under his door or through email. Terrible experience, if I ever rent again, and a home I am interested in uses Management Associates I will look elsewhere. Pros: Leaves you Alone Cons: Everything Else more

If there were a lower rating than 1 star he deserves it! Management AssociatE (Singular) howard works alone and is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of. He does business under the door rather than in person. Literally he would have us pay rent under the door with no receipt and no option to meet with him. Never fixes anything, and evidently cant even do math. He was always trying to screw me on rent! I definately recommend staying away from this guy! Pros: The price at first...very deceitful! Cons: I would say lack of ability to communicate, but he was NEVER around to even meet! more
