Also not sure what has changed.. 11/17/2006

I've been a regular here for 6 years. Since it burned down and re-built something HAS become different. It used to be my favortie for comfort food, service, and quality; now I find all three lacking. The one reviewer who mentioned that the Owner spends time at the Redmond location may be right~ maybe that's why it's not as good, and the service has deteriorated. The green beans were greasy, the fish was really fishy, and even the roti wasn't soft and palatable this time. I don't think we finished anything we ordered. The only thing that I did still enjoy was the curry dip for the roti. I asked for a side of rice and poured it over the top. I'm not a squeamish eater, so I would have to say that the fish should NOT have tasted like that at all. I have another beef as well~ they sent out ""fliers"" that they now deliver, yet EVERY time I have called for delivery, they aren't delivering. Don't advertise something you're not good at is my advice. I know I'll go back agian, but not for a while. Pros: Parking was easy Cons: Too many. more

wonderful and unique 11/1/2006

A real treat- distinctly foreign, and very delicious. The pictures on the menu encourage you to try new things and I've never been disappointed. more

AWEFUL! 10/4/2006

This used to be my favorite place to have Southeast Asian food. The food quality now is aweful and the food taste like cheap Asian food that can be found at the malls. more

Overrated 9/26/2006

I went to their chinatown location and their food is sub-par. Service is fast but unfriendly. Found a much better restaurant in Indo Cafe (near Northgate Mall) to satisfy my cravings for Malaysian/Indonesian food. Pros: fast service, easy parking Cons: sub-par food, unfriendly staff, poor quality more

good food & friendly service 8/27/2006

Where else can you get Malaysian food in Seattle? Can't go wrong with anything you order here. Try to show up early...as always, parking's a mess. Pros: variety, friendly staff, clean environment Cons: parking more

good food but abysmal and rude service 8/22/2006

I have been going to this restaurant for about 6 years and find the food to be good but the service has become abysmal since the owner moved to the second restaurant in Redmond. The last time I was in there I canceled my order and walked out as the waitress was so rude. I will be looking for an alternate where my business is appreciated or visit the Redmond sister restaurant. Pros: good food Cons: terrible rude service more

Great Food at a great price 6/7/2006

Great fusion of Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisine. While some Malay food is spicy they also have dishes that can please most palates. The chow kueh teow and papaya and tofu salad are some of my favorite on the menu. Most items on the menu are under $10. This is one of my favorite places to go in Seattle Pros: Great Food, Large Tables, Inexpensive more

Try this for something different 2/25/2006

It was good to see such a huge menu with many different choices. Where I sat there was a cold draft blowing down on me from above which was annoying. The wait for the appetizers and the orders was slightly long, approx. 15 minutes. The staff was friendly though, our friends brought a cute little baby with them and the staff came over and talked to her and smiled and was very nice to us. I would say go there if you want something different like I did, especially if you are hungry for Chinese but want a slightly different approach to it. I had the Buddhist Yam pot and liked it. Pros: inexpensive, variety, good parking Cons: drafty, slow, somewhat crowded more

Skimpy dish? 2/9/2006

I finally get to try Malay Satay Hut in little Saigon in one lazy afternoon. I ordered roti canai and bak kuh deh. The roti canai did not disappoint but the bak kuh deh was very much lacking in flavor and sustance. I've read a previous review about skimpy portion to cut cost but had no idea it was this skimpy. For a $8+ order, the bak kuh deh consists largely of water but very little meat. There was only 3-4 small pieces of pork ribs ranging from 1"" to 4"" in length, mostly bones, 3-4 very thin slices of pig guts, 3 small cut pieces of mushrooms floating about in the broth, and nothing else. The taste is average. Overall, for the other choices that are out there, I would not recommend this restaurant unless you don't mind the unfriendly staff attitude. Pros: convenient location, roti canai Cons: unfriendly service, skimpy serving more

Great curry dishes, fantastic roti canai 12/26/2005

Not every dish is great, but the good ones are absolutely fantastic! Roti canai, dry curried tofu, curry vegetable noodles--- anything involving curry on this menu is almost a guaranteed winner. Pros: great curry, inexpensive, parking lot Cons: cash only, crowded parking lot more

Yummy Roti Canai + Grilled Spicy Eggplant! 11/29/2005

This place doesn't have the largest vegetarian menu, but these two dishes are the reason I keep coming back again & again. And oh, the lychee drink compliments this spicy food very very well. Great for lunches -- they have some good lunch specials, and awesome for dinner Pros: Roti Canai, Roti Canai, Quick Cons: Average service more

something different for sure 7/30/2005

If you are well-versed in Asian menus, you will enjoy this place for a dining challenge! Has the expected satays (have never eaten them!) but we go for the unfamiliar--like steamed chopped pork with salty fish, omelet with baby oysters, and yes, tripe. While the sound of the menu items might turn you off, they are REAL FOOD that we Asians grew up with and still love, just don't know how to cook ourselves! Spicy dishes are very spicy. Service is casual as is ambience. Prices are moderate, portions medium sized. Pros: great menu Cons: parking is tight more
