I am a mother of two and admittingly, not a girlie girl. I don't wear a ton of makeup. I have a hard enough time making sense of my outfits and getting my hair to resemble something neat. I just don't put in the time I should to my look. I am sure a lot of women out there know my drill. I have a job and raise 2 teenage daughters. Who has time for beauty? It's hard to admit, but my husband asked the other day if I can start "looking gorgeous" again. He is a sweet man and he meant no harm, but he thinks I am very attractive and wanted me to put the time in. I found these reviews and called to make an appoitment for a makeup lesson. I learned so much and I feel like I actually know what I am doing. I see makeup as more of a relaxation excersize now. Shara showed me that I don't even need a lot and it takes as little as 5 minutes to look a whole lot better. And my husband really appreciates it! Haha. Shara, the makeup artist, even accompanied me to Sephora and helped me pick out my colors without the hassle of being sold by a person who just wants a commision. My daughter got married last weekend and it was absolutely beautiful. The night before her wedding (7 PM), I got the phone call no one wants to ever get. The makeup artist (will not mention a name) called to tell me she was sick and will no longer be available to do makeup for my daughter, her 5 briedesmaides, myself, and the groom's mother. I PANICKED. I mean, this was a makeup artist I signed a contract with and gave a deposit to! After about an hour of sheer panic, I went to citysearch and found Shara. I called and prayed. Shara picked up the phone and listened as I explained what had happened. She did not interupt and only wanted to see if she could help. When I told her my daughter's wedding was the next afternoon, she told me I was very lucky. She already had a wedding, but it was an evening start and was not going to be there until 3:30. She did not take advantage of my situation and discussed her normal rated with me. It was set. That morning, I had hoped she wouldn't be a flake. She showed up, 10 minutes early and set up camp. She was an organized, beautiful woman, and she was ready to work. And Stacy, the bride looked soooo grogeous. I wish I could post pictures on here. Everyone was so happy with her, and I truly believe they would have not been so happy with the other artist, had she come. I am letting everyone know about Shara. I am so glad it all worked out. I get my makeup professionally done a lot because I have a very busy social life. I go out to parties, charity functions, and other events often. I always find that there is a style in Manhattan of doing makeup. It always looks good, but plain. Maybe it's just me? But, I like to look glamorous sometimes as well. I read the reviews and contacted Shara and I was not let down. I don't think I could get bored with her makeup, because she has so many ideas and when I explained different things I like, she knew what I was saying. I hope some people don't find this ridiculous, but I'm getting married this coming March and started my makeup and hair trials in September!. I had some crazy dreams where I looked aweful and wanted to make sure that didn't happen. I want to look like myself, but I don't want a doubt in my mind that I don't look my best. I had three trials, all of whom came recommended by friends who recently got married. The artists were nice, but no one would listen to me and what I wanted. I want natural, glowy makeup and a bit smokey (light smokey) on the eye. And they all wanted to do airbrush and I don't like the look. I felt like they were "selling" me and I don't want to feel like I am being sold for my wedding day. I wanted someone who I felt like I could trust. I had been getting really nervous about it and then I found this ad. I called Shara to speak and told her my situation. She didn't think I was crazy at all. I like a girl without judgements! I wanted to come in ASAP and she fit me in THE NEXT DAY! And there must be some higher power working on my behalf, because I absolutely loved it. She listened to everything I said to the T. I booked her on the spot and trust her completely with my family and bridesmaides. And another great thing is, after I booked her, she gave me her email and responded to all my silly questions. The next day she sent me a photo of our trial. She has the patience of a saint! Love that girl! Pros: I finally found my makeup artist for my wedding. She is patient, talented, and reasonable! Cons: Wish I found her sooner! I went through so many trials before finding Shara. So much wasted money. more

I am so happy to have read there reviews and to have called Shara. I was looking forever for a good makeup artist and I finally found her!!! And she is a sweet, young, beautiful, and talented little lady. I could have spent hours with her just chatting. Shara is GREAT! I am the mother of a Bat Mizvah aged daughter and found her through google. Then, I saw these reviews and called. SO convinient that she is right on the upper east side. The makeup was simply gorgeous and she really cares about making every little thing perfect. Which is funny because I found out she was a virgo and she certainly has the traits of wanting perfection! I recently called Shara because she had done my makeup for my best friend's wedding. I got her card and planned on calling when I needed to look great. Unfortunately, I lost that card. I had a terrible experience with a makeup studio on the upper east side. They basically airbrushed me and made me look like I was wearing a mask. But, enough about that horror. I was looking at this site, and I found Shara again! Yay! I use Shara now whenever I want to look beautiful. I have my makeup done sometimes to go to dinner and sometimes when I go to a black tie event. The best thing is, we are always on the same wavelengh. I don't like when makeup looks the same when you are going out to dinner and then to a black tie. I recommend Shara with full confidence. Pros: Great makeup, no stress Cons: none! more

I feel like we can do anything online, even find our makeup artists! I came to this site through random research and then checkout out the website. I was really impressed with what I saw and the pictures, so I booked my trial. I loved my trial makeup and thought it was so great that my digital picture was taken after and sent to me the next day. Everyone agrees that I looked incredible. I am really happy that I found such high quality on this website. Pros: Great photos, great makeup, nice location Cons: none! more

AHHH!! I have found my next indulgence. MAKEUP! I love having it applied professionally! I never knew this until I had to go to this charity function last weekend and I was searching for spa or makeup professionals on citysearch. I found Shara and called after reading the glowing reccomendations. I booked my application. I have really felt like in a little slump. Maybe since summer is over, but having my makeup done made me feel like a woman again. Thankfully, Shara is so reasonable, or I would never be able to go as much as I would like to. It makes as much of a difference as getting your hair blownout. The best was I had my blowout, then my makeup and I just had to go home and slip into my dress! What a perfect night. Now, I am not one to review, but I really felt like I wanted to after my experience with Shara. I was so nervous to have someone I never met do my makeup for my daughter's wedding that I almost just did it myself. The idea of some else having control over my face was really scary for me, I looked all over citysearch and asked my friends who they used. Actually, one of them referred me to Shara and then I saw the add on citysearch, so I went to go give it a try. The reviews were great and I really had nothing to loose. Shara convinced me what type of makeup would look the best on me and I swear I would have never thought I could ever pull it off. She put individual lashes on me and no one knew. People asked what I had done all night, and no one could place it. My makeup stayed on all night (except for my lipgloss like I was warned) and kept on getting compliments all night. Best of all, it did not cost me an arm and leg. I researched some makeup artists online and they charge 10 times what I was charged and I really cannot picture it looking any better. Pros: Great makeup and in my price range. She really showed me personal attention and talked me into some things I would have never considered. It looked wonderful. Cons: I called a week before my party and she was booked for the afternoon, so I got my makeup done in the AM. She books up fast. more

Shara did such beautiful work for my cousin's wedding. She actually came to the hotel where we were getting ready on the day of the wedding and was with the bridal party until we all went for pictures. She was so pleasant and such an addition to our family's day. She was so sweet that I almost felt like she was part of the family. If talent and good personality can make someone a success, Shara will be a superstar. There was no attitude whatsoever. We all told her exactly what we wanted and she gave some of us the pros and cons of what we asked for, but we all came out smiling. My cousin visited Shara's studio for her trial and she said it was so cute and very clean. She uses the best products and had great recommendations for skincare. It seemed like she really knew what she was doing. She has definitely had her share of training. It was also funny to listen to her celebrity makeup stories and hear who she's done. I felt so glamorous and all my friends, family, and dear husband couldn't believe how great I looked. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I actually went to my cousins wedding last year and was amazed at how beautiful everyone is the bridal party looked. Their skin glowed, their eyes popped. They all looked gorgeous. So, for my wedding, I booked Shara for myself and six bridesmaides, plus my mother and my now husband's mother. Every single person who had their makeup done were raving about how beautiful they felt. Their was not one unhappy person. She is so good at making skin look flawless. Having your makeup professionally done makes SUCH a huge difference. I knew I didn't want to be worrying about that on my day. I am literally jumping out of my seat waiting for my pictures. I had a fantasy wedding and I am glad my look was right on. Pros: Shara made my whole party look flawless. I trust her completely. I was fully nervous to be made up by someone I never met, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a go. I decided to have my makeup done last week because I was going to a party where I wanted to look my best. OK, to be honest, there was a guy I liked and I really wanted to impress him. I work literally all the time, so it's hard for me to take such an interest in my appearance. Anyway, I went to the makeup studio (which I loved-so cute!) and had Shara do my makeup. She was very professional, reasonably priced, and talented, and I am sure she is NYC's next big makeup artist. I just hope she keeps her prices and the quality of work she gives. Oh, and by the way, that guy totally asked me for my number by the end of the party! YEAH!! I loved my wedding trial. Shara really took her time and did such a spectacular job - I really did love they way she did my makeup. When I got home, my fiance was awed and kept commenting how gorgeous and natural I looked. When I saw his mom she told me how beautiful I looked, but didn't even realize I had makeup on - she thought that it was so natural looking. She said I looked even more beautful but didn't realize why. I loved that. Pros: I loved it, my fiance loved it, and my future mother and law loved it. Very natural. more

Shara is amazing! I just had my sweet 16 trial! She is beyond words. I brought in a picture of Jessica Biel, because I love how she looks glam all the time, but still natural. I don't like when makeup artists put globs on foundation on me, but I like my eyes to show. She knew exactly what I wanted. Perfect. Ok. So, here is the deal. I went all over Manhattan for makeup trials for my wedding. Shara was my 5th trial to be exact! I am not kidding you. The problem was everyone I went to thought they knew it ALL about the way I wanted to look on MY wedding day. I ended up looking like a half alien/half transvestite. NO KIDDING!. I walked into Shara's studio and she seemed different. After my trial was over, I looked in the mirror and I loved my makeup. My mother and fiance loved it too! FINALLY! A makeup artist who actually listens. You know, the funny thing is, she was the least expensive trial and will be the least expensive on my actual wedding day. But, the quality was leaps and bounds better. That goes to show you, you don't always pay for what you get in NYC. Pros: Least expensive, best quality, she listens Cons: absolutely none! more

I just came back from my honeymoom and I am glowing! I cannot wait to see my pictures. I love writing reviews after I love something, so that other people can experience what I got to experience. I met Shara three weeks ago for a trial for my wedding (also I was going to a party that night and thought it would be a good night to try it out). I went to her adorable studio on the upper east and was greeted by Shara. Such a great girl! Anyway, down to business, I sat for my trial and she spent all the time she needed to achieve my dream look. I wanted a soft, natural look but still look like I had makeup up. I suffer from the type of skin that like literally eats your makeup and that was a huge worry for me. Anyway, I loved the way I looked after she was finished. It was definitely more makeup than I am used to, but she told me to see how it looks through the night and we could make any changes the day of my wedding. She was right, the makeup was beautiful and IT ACTUALLY STAYED ON through the night, minus my lipgloss! How amazing is that! My very new wife Taylor said she wanted to write the review, but I wanted to beat her to it. I must say I was very hesitant to see Taylor's makeup on her wedding day. She has always been a natural type of girl, and she is so beautiful with hardly any makeup on. When Taylor told me she wanted to get her makeup done, I was definitely telling her she could do it herself and it would look beautiful. I want to tell you all, Shara is an expert. Taylor looked NATURAL and BEAUTIFUL on our wedding day. She looked like an angel, and while I know she had makeup on, she just looked like Taylor on her most relaxed and rested day. Fantastic job! After reading the good reviews, I called and got an appointment. I called two days before I wanted to have my makeup done and thankfully, Shara fit me in. I am a "difficult" makeup client. I like what I like and I have some pretty aweful experiences (HELLO Bloomingdale makeup counters ha!) I told Shara I wanted a smokey look and described how I like my makeup put on specifically. A lot of people would get annoyed, but Shara is so relaxed and easy going. She listened, we worked together, and I had a fantastic night! Pros: Very attentive and very skilled artist. I am quite sure that Shara will go down as the next makeup guru. I had a bridal party of 5 girls, plus myself (I was a bride) and my mother to get makeup done! Shara and her staff spent great energy and time on preparing everyone for the big day and I just love Shara's sweetness! She is so so lovely! Some of us got lashes, some airbrushed, but we were all beautiful. I cannot wait to see how good we all look in my pictures! Pros: Thumbs way up! more
