My husband and I love red velvet cake. If I do not bake it, we buy it from Cake Man Raven's in Brooklyn. We received rave reviews about Make My Cake from 3 different people. One person came short of swearing on everything he loves that this is the best red velvet ever. So this weekend after my mother-in-law graduated at Riverside Church, we decided to make our way to Make My Cake before meeting the rest of the group for lunch. I was going to order 2 slices of cake, but the slices are all topped with nuts (which due to allergic reactions, I cannot come into contact with). Therefore, I ordered a muffin for myself and a slice of cake for my husband. Neither had much taste, except for the cream cheese frosting which was very tasty. The muffin was dry and heavy. The sliced cake was even heavier and very greasy. While both were terrible and a waste of $9.42, we were able to digest the muffin together. Even with my mother sampling the sliced cake, it still went into the garbage. I am certain that anyone can bake a better red velvet cake using a box of Duncan Hines cake mix. Needless to say, I would never step foot in this place again.
Cons: TASTE, PRICE
