Well, I think the person below me MUST be confused with another Spa and definitely could not have had that interaction with Christiane Bourque! (Borque isn't the correct spelling)...

Disapointed 12/17/2008

I had an 80 minute deep tissue message that costs $180. Compared to other deep tissue messages I have had, it was not worth the money. I found the light touch of the therapist to have no deep tissue tension release effect on me at all. And I had none of the usual nasal stuffiness, nor any of the usal "I just got a deep tissue massage" super relaxed feeling. Usually I have to take an advil & drink a lot of water due to a bit of soreness after a deep tissue message, and this massage did not elicit that response at all. I left felling like I never got the message. At one point the piped in music shut down, and only had the sounds of the loud traffic outside to set the mood. Also, I was out of the massage room 7 minutes before my 80 minutes were up. I didn't find the staff to be overwhelming friendly, which would have helped to put a new client at ease. I wish the therapists they employed were more dedicated to producing results for the client, becuase it really is a beatiful place, Bottom line, I did not get what I expected, nor what I paid for at all. Pros: Beautiful facility & decor Cons: Massage therapists not verry effective, maybe they need better trained people. Not worth the money. more

Great experience 10/7/2008

I recently received a gift certificate to Maison Esthetique for a pedicure and facial. It was a great experience for me. The service was great, it was the most relaxing afternoon I have had in a while. I felt rejuvenated. If you ever have the opportunity I would definitely recommend scheduling a treatment. You will be satisfied. more

not worth the time and money 10/1/2008

I have to agree with the other raters. The atmosphere is nice, but the service is nothing to brag about. I had a massage and asked the therapist to focus on my neck and shoulders...I think that he must have thought I said forget the neck and shoulders! After spending $80 for a 50 min. treatment I feel that I would have been better served by spending $5.00 at the mall on one of those skanky massage chairs. I have had friends that have similiar negative experiences there as well. If you are looking to give someone a gift to the spa, do them a favor and look elsewhere. Pros: Warm atmosphere Cons: inexperienced staff more

BEST SPA IN BOSTON! 9/16/2008

Well, I think the person below me MUST be confused with another Spa and definitely could not have had that interaction with Christiane Bourque! (Borque isn't the correct spelling). She, as well as the co-owner Jane Patrickas are the sweetest women and the staff is most definitely NOT stuck up! From the second you walk into Maison Esthetique you are immediately cared for and everyone is treated equally. The service is INCREDIBLE and the staff is so attentive to your needs. Every other place I have been to before has never treated their customers like they do at Maison. As for the "ambiance", it is like something from a movie. From the hand painted walls to the quality of the robes and products, you feel like your on a luxurious vacation! As for the treatments, I have had facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, and waxes done, and I have always been overwhelmed with how amazing everything is. I usually have Jeff do my facials and he is incredible and so personable! Thanks to his facials and recommendations for specific products my skin has changed for the better! My massages are heaven and I never want them to end! Because of heavy running I have had issues with my back and shins and they are always taken care of! That's one thing the staff at Maison also does, they always pay such close attention to the customers! On another note, I have actually been in more than one situation where Christiane HERSELF came down to cover some of my package because I had either forgot to leave a tip or went over. Without me even knowing she took care of it. She treats not only her staff but her customers with exceptional kindness and respect. She is one of the most down to earth women I have ever met in my life and her staff emulates those qualities as well. I ALWAYS tell people about my wonderful experiences there and recommend everyone to go and treat themselves! Pros: Parking in the back, Ambience, Service and Staff, Treatments Cons: None! more

Horrible Experience 8/23/2008

I recieved a gift certificate for a day at this spa for Christmas and several months later (under a year), decided to use it. When I called the managers gave me a hard time as the package had changed so even though someone had purchased a package with a certain amount of services, they would only honor the services the package now offered. After several phone calls to clarify, a manager told me they would honor the original package. Fast forward to the day of my service, the service was horrible, the treatments were nothing to write home about and the ambiance was cold and uncomfortable. The whole time I was there I was wondering how people could rave about the spa. Then as I checked out, Christian Borque herself tells me that I owe an extra 100 dollars! After all that....she told me I shouldn't have been told they would honor the old package and to basically pay up. I paid and have since told EVERYONE I know never to step foot in the spa and have turned people who were about to go there, away from the spa. For the amount of money the package cost and the quality of service, I've had better elsewhere without the attitude. Pros: Nothing but a name - it doesn't live up to the hype Cons: Everything - service, attitude, ambiance, service, staff are very rude and stuck up more

Do not know what people are talking about...anything but good 5/8/2008

All I can say is that you should save yourself the time, money and effort. The ambiance is nice but it is like walking into someone's home versus a spa. The girl that did my treatment, was more concerned about telling me about herself than the service I was there for. I think her name was Rebecca. My nail tech was all about herself as well. I am not impressed. Very cold feel, a lot of money for treatments that were ordinary and I would not make time to return. Cons: staff, treatments more

Great facials 4/13/2008

My difficult skin needs extra attention, and that is what I got at the spa. The facial was sooo relaxing and my skin was great afterwards. The atmosphere is awesome, and the staff is great. This was a gift to me, so I do not know what the cost was.I highly recommend this spa. I hope I get another gift certificate soon! more

Outstanding service and products 4/13/2008

The facials I have had at Maison Esthetique have been just what I needed! The winter made my skin incredibly dry, the hydrating facial restored it to a wonderful condition. The products recommended by my esthetician Deanna, have helped me keep it smooth and hydrated. Though the products can be pricey, they are worth it! The attention to detail at the spa, in addition to the wonderful service, make any visit a special event. I shall be returning very soon! Pros: Parking, ambience, knowledge of product line Cons: None that I can think of more

wonderful waxing 3/6/2008

My parents live on the North Shore so I visit Maison Esthetique when I'm in their neighborhood. I've only ever been there for bikini waxing, and I'm eager to experience some of their other (perhaps more pleasant!) services soon. I have to say, though, the waxes I've had at Maison Esthetique are the least painful bikini waxes I've ever had. The technicians are always professional and use a special kind of wax that hardens in place and doesn't require cloth strips to remove. It seems to be better for my skin and I'm left with hardly any redness or discomfort at all following my appointments. It's a more expensive type of wax, but when it comes to the bikini area, I'm happy to pay it! Also, and this is very crucial, the technicians I've had have always been great about taking hair off where I say I want it removed, and not anywhere else. I've been to spas where asking for "a little off the sides" leaves you with a landing strip, but not at Maison Esthetique. I only wish I lived closer! Pros: Great waxing, great ambiance, good parking, wonderful technicians Cons: a bit pricey more
