Ordinarily, I would not complain, especially on the web, since I know ratings matter to patrons or potential customers of businesses. But, the service at Main Street is so poor that our office decided we will never visit there again, despite the restaurant being a block away. Main Street's kitchen is so slow that, sometimes, diners must request a refund, since they are running late to return to work. They make mistakes on orders, probably because they are too busy talking to their friends or socializing. Then, when requested to rectify or manage an order in error, they become defensive, rude and bitter. The women, at our office, complain that the staff appear to suffer from a Napoleonic complex! They are quick to inform you, in response to a complaint, if you do not like the slow service, mixed up orders and cold food - to take your business elsewhere. I suggest that those seeking efficient service with affordable, quality food accompanied by respectful staff and management to consider their advice - invest your hard-earned dollars at a restaurant, where customers are appreciated, and the food, when it does arrive after long last, is actually the correct order!!! more

We used to go here... 1/20/2011

We used to really enjoy going to this place -- until the owner showed us how little he knows about customer service. Eight of us went here for lunch this week. One coworker ordered a two topping pizza. It only came out with one of the toppings so they let the waitress know the pizza was incorrect. The owner brought the ticket over and said, basically, ""no, you're wrong, you only ordered one topping."" Another coworker said, I'm sorry, but I heard them order two. We could argue over who's right and who's right all day long but it won't get anyone anywhere. You would think an owner of a customer service oriented business would understand a simple ""I'm so sorry we missed your topping, apparently it wasn't on the ticket. We'll go ahead and add it to your pizza and get it right out."" and simply eat the 5-25 cents worth of veggies that it cost him -- instead of arguing with a table of 8 who now won't come back. We spent at least 70$ there today and we do that at least once a month. Apparently winning that argument over 25 cents worth of topping was more important than steady business from loyal customers. more

Go back to the way the original owners or cooks made the pizza 9/13/2008

I noticed the taste on my large pepperoni was gone, so I asked if the business was sold . Sadly, it has changed. I don't care who owns the restaurant, but I'm pleading with the new cooks, owners, go to Florio's Pizza in Alamo Heights and try and duplicate the flavor of their pizza. There is something wrong in your new pizza making process, I don't know if its the ingredients , technique or both, but I have sadly stopped going to your place because it just doesnt taste the same and I am SAD!!! But I will say the tiny funky restaurant is cute and different. I need to add that the location I'm referring to is I10 at Crossroads . more

Worst customer service ever to a drive thru patrons! Avoid! 2/12/2008

Drive thru line 12pm on a week day. I was told I could not do split payment at window had to park go inside and re order- was told rudely that was the drive thru ""guidelines"" which mind you are NOT posted anywhere on the menu outside or anywhere around the drive thru area. After putting my whole staffs lunch on my card( mind you only ONE sandwich was requested for separate payment). I was waiting for what seemed like eternity for my food. And upon arrival back to my work I was unable to even enjoy my food in a timely matter (not there fault) and upon opening my food and all others when i was ready to eat noticed i not only received NOTHING that I ordered but in fact was $2.50 more for each sandwich! That explains the $34.00 tab! I called as soon as I could and was placed on hold and then hung up on. Then called back passed to another man who said bring back my receipt and card and he would credit my meal (mind you one single meal). I arrived shortly after with my receipt and card and was told by the SAME rude man whom took my order that i needed to return the food and that he would issue no credit! I get it I ate it but i did not order and I was treated badly from the get go, so you would assume some form of customer service would step up and take care of the situation instead of throwing back my card and receipt and slamming the window down. I guess they are so wealthy that they do not need our business nor the recommendation to my customers on where to get a quick bite! I work less than two blocks away and neither I or any of my co-workers will ever step foot or wheel near there again!!!!!!!!! Pros: If you get what you actually ordered it is good food Cons: the worst customer service I have EVER encountered more

Great Pizza! 7/5/2007

I looked Main Street Pizza up on line. Drove 17 miles to try them out and was not dissapointed. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. My order was to go and I was given a free Ice Tea while I waited. Only down fall was parking was tight and I did not see beer on the menu although I might of missed it (not sure). However, the pizza was very good and I highly recommend it. Pros: crust Cons: parking, tables close together felt cramped more

Terrific manacotti, healthy portions, great for a quick lunch 11/30/2006

I have eaten there several timeswhile a student at SAC. If you like restaurants where you place your order and pick it up then this is it. No waitresses to bother you. The food is prepared quickly and served hot or cold where appropriate. The food is fantastic for the portions and the prices. Just find a table or you can sit and eat outside on their patio. Pros: Great food, great prices Cons: need a bigger restaurant! more

Great Affordable Eating 11/20/2006

Everything is good on this menu. The specials are the best bet, which come with a tea and side salad. The staff is awesome and the Frank Sinatra playing in the background is always pleasant. This is a popular spot to eat if you attend SAC or work in the neighborhood. Pros: great value Cons: nothing wrong with this joint! more

Great Italian Food. 9/4/2005

Main Street definitely has a great variety of Italian food that is both very delicious and very affordable. Check out their weekly specials and you will not be dissappointed. Their meat lasagna is absolutely the best I have ever tasted in town and the ranch dressing is to die for. The staff at this establishment is always very friendly and welcoming. It is a place that caters to all ages and cultures. You cannot go wrong with visiting Main Street because once you visit you will become a customer for life. Pros: Inexpensive, Atmosphere, Good Parking more

Taste Buds 6/27/2003

Waited on by the fastest Cat In Town, Ernie, and what a job he does. I will take my plate Spaghetti Garlic and Butter, Green Olives, and Chicken, Ranch and Tea. The smell of fresh foccica bread out of the oven makes me buy 1 more. I love the sensation I get from the mixture of flavors swirling in my mouth. The only way that my day can end any better is going home and taking my nap on a full stomach. I HEART MSPP! The additon is awesome! Pros: Energetic Staff Cons: Bring Back Brownies more

Like a Cheers for pizza! 7/22/2002

Not only do they have the best pizza in town (hands down the best), but treat their repeat customers like you expect your family to treat you. My family has been a regular at the Crossroads location for years, and they recognize when there is a variation in the normal order. Pros: Fresh ingredients, Speedy kitchen, Friendly more

Thank God for Pizza 6/2/2002

Let's just be happy that pizza is on their menu. Everything else leaves something to be desired...something like flavor. Their pizza is good, but I've had better at the mall. Their spaghetti as the consistancy of 2% milk and their salads look about as appetizing as passed over tofu. Be happy there is pizza on the menu. Run from all else. more

Bravissimo!!! 5/31/2002

When I first moved to San Antonio, I thought that good Italian required a $40 commitment... until I tried Main Street Pizza. The food is great, the service friendly AND it's locally owned and operated. This no frills establishment has trimmed off all the extra amenities. You walk up to the counter and place your order (note that there are no free refills on soda), seat yourself and enjoy a salad while waiting for your food to arrive. (This saves us on the cost of tipping we like that.) I usually get the beef ravioli combo, but everything I have tried is great. Their pizza is as close as you can get to New York in San Antonio. I also love their house Italian dressing. The location is within walking distance of our apartment what else can I say? We love this place!!! more
