Weather for a beach was not good today and my husband invites me to Mahi Mah?s restaurant for a sea food lunch. The place was not crowded, however looks like a host and a waitress were not happy with our appearance. I never had such rude and unfriendly welcome to any restaurant before. So, I left this place without lunch and have no idea about it quality. The poor customer service made the experience horrible and ruined s rest of the day. more

good seafood place 9/17/2008

not too fancy that you would have to dress up to go there, and certainly more family oriented than catch31 (which doesn't have a kids menu) this was very busy during a tuesday evening and the food was really good. literally right on the virginia beach boardwalk, the atmosphere was good. one turn off was their menu says their is a $2 charge for sharing one meal, which i thought was bogus. i smashed my food. i got the nightly special of an entire lobster for $15. it was good Pros: location Cons: no free parking anywhere in va. beach more

Great meal 9/7/2008

We were in VA Beach for Labor Day wknd and hadn't had any luck in finding great places to eat. We both are fans of seafood and sushi so this place seemed like a good pick. It was kind of crowded but that was expected, being that it was a busy weekend. We sat outside on the boardwalk which we liked b/c it was a nice night. The calamari was phenomenal! The dipping sauce was a chili type sauce which was very different than I usually have with calamari but I really enjoyed it. I had the sushi/ sashimi combo. At first I wasn't sure if it would be enough food but it was more than enough. I couldn't finish all the sashimi. But the presentation and quality of the sushi was great. I would definitely come back to this place when I'm in the VA Beach area. The service was very helpful and friendly too. Pros: Sushi, Service, Ambiance Cons: If the boarddwalk is crowded or there are alot of drunk people in the area, they can take away from the nice ambiance more

found hair in several dishes, very bad service (server and manager) 12/31/2006

Our family went there this Thanksgiving. They had a special Thanksgiving buffet for $25.99/person, and we saw good reviews about Mahi Mah's, so we made reservation for that night. The food tasted okay, but definitely not worth $25.99, no sushi at all, just some baked salmon and seafood soup and Turkey. The worst thing is I found hair on my plate from two different dishes, my husband told the waiter to take the plate away and that I can't finish the plate because of those hair. The waiter took a look at it and said ""yuck"" and made a face. While I was just sitting there taking a break, the manager marched to our table said in an arguing and loud voice:""The thing you found in the dish is not a hair, it's from a brush!"" We were shocked, but we didn't want to ruin our Thanksgiving dinner, so we didn't argue with him. But neither the waiter nor the manager appoligized, or even smiled or seemed sincere. At the end they charged 18% tip automatically, even on their manu they stated that they only charge it for more than 5 (or 6) people, and we only had 4 people. Because it was Thanksgiving night, they were taking advantage of people.... We paid and left thinking we'll never go back ever. The next several days we went to many other seafood restaurants that were much better in value and service. Pros: location Cons: really bad service, average food, expensive more

Horrible Service 8/21/2004

We were ignored at the door and not greeted by anyone. When we tried to sit ourselves we were told that we had to waitwait (1) to be seated and (2) for a table to be available. I explained than no one had greeted us and showed them that more than 70% of the tables were unoccupied. I felt unwelcomed and as if the restaurant was doing me a favor for letting us stay. The food was just OK and the entrire experience deplorable. Shame on them! Pros: Horrible service more

Fun 10/15/2003

Mahi Mah's is definitely a good time. Damn expensive however. Its the kind of place to go to celebrate. Pros: Wonderful food, Ocean Front, Lots of Action Cons: Crowded, Expensive, Mediocre service more

Never Again 8/25/2002

I eat out a lot at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach and have eaten at Mahi Mah's onumerous times over several years. Their food (give it a 7) has been good and remains that way. I used to recommend it to out of town visitors, and take clients and visitors there. I can no longer feel confident in having a good experience eating there. Not because of the food, but because of poor service, (slow and even non-existant) - and after a conversation with the floor manager I am also of the opinion will not likely change in the customer's favor. The saddest part of the evening was overhearing another party complaining about the same thing and having the staff comment ""they haven't got a clue"" referring to the customer! It's time for a new restaurant (and not just a name change) at the Ramada. Cons: service (non-existant, management (uncaring), parking lowsy more
