Madras Cafe

My brother and I have been to many Indian restaurants all over the US, Canada, UK and India. Madras Cafe easily falls into the top 2% of these restaurants. The food was just DELICIOUS and reminded us of home-cooked food. All the items on the menu were very reasonably priced. We would strongly recommend Madras Cafe for its perfectly crispy masala dosais, savoury masala vadais, delightful and freshly made coconut, tomato and mint chutneys, steaming hot tasty sambhar, huge golden puris and mouth-watering cholay (chana). We topped off our dinner with South Indian filter coffee and Masala Chai (tea). They were an excellent complement to the meal. Madras Cafe's fare was pure gastronomical bliss. Don't be fooled by the plain decor of this place - the food is nothing short of an authentic trip to the south and the northern food (puri-chana) frontiers of India. Horrible - give you a teaspoon full of sambar. Obviously you need sambar/chutney to eat dosa with, gets it, then SNEAKY bills you for it. For ONE cup of sambar!!! That when ALL OVER THE WORLD unlimited sambar is included! NEVER EVER GO THERE - the food is not tasty either, left me with a very unpleasent experience / taste in the mouth! more

This place offers south Indian dishes at low price. The ambiance is horrible. Place is too small and at time its very crowded. Its better to TOGO food from here instead of sitting and having it there. Best thing to eat is masala dosa and mini idli. Dosas are not that good. Sambhar is ok. Overall its just so so... more

This is a south-Indian fast-food joint. Great tasting food at really affordable prices. No fancy decor, limited seating. I almost always take food-togo. Madras Cafe in Sunnyvale has an authentic South Indian menu. The prices are also quite reasonable and the food is yummy... The place is little congested but a cool place to hang out and eat good food. You would love it.. more
