it's a shame that a restaurant in such 5/27/2012

it's a shame that a restaurant in such a nice setting has such horrible service. Yesterday we sat over an hour waiting for the entree. The excuse by the owner is that they were hosting a party. But in between no one came to the table apologizing. Simple inexcusable for a $20+ restaurant. The bread that came to the table was at least 3 days old, they refused to serve water to the outside tables, we were forced to buy a bottle of water. My ""espetada"" was simply horrible, the fries that came with it were not fresh. As Portuguese born, i was very disappointed and sure will never go back, there are much better places in the area and with better prices. more

Will never return!! Ever!! 8/16/2011

This was a terrible experience. The owner triple-booked the upstairs and the family reunion that we had planned for many months was a disaster. Family members came from great distances to experience loud music (there was no partition between us and the other groups), the food was thrown at us, it was cold and bland - certainly NOT good Portuguese food. We were all so embarrassed and very upset. The owner of this restaurant is after the money and has no regard for his customers. I will never return and will tell all my friends about this experience. It was a disgrace!! more

food was terrible 2/19/2010

This used to be my favorite portuguese place to eat in the area but hadn't been in awhile. I ate there last night and had to send my plate back because the rice was cold and hard and so were the potatoes. The steak is now a cheap fatty piece of meat. The waiter's attitude was take it or leave it. Well, we will never be back. Pros: nice decor Cons: food was terrible, service was also more

The food is awesome, good portion sizes, service is great, the prices are very reasonable, people are very friendly. You might have to wait a little while for a table depending on the time you go, but it's worth the wait. Whiled your waiting you can always go to the bar and have a couple of drinks. If you have a party of 4 or more you can make a reservation and you will have a shorter wait. more

Madeira review 5/19/2003

I have been to the Madeira restaurants for many functions ( weddings, baptizms, showers) upstairs on the second floor and have always had a great expeience there. I have to say that my visits there with friends on the first floor have been rather disappointing. Our waiter didn't know how to explain anything to us in English. When we asked him the origins of the very good ""bean cake"" he said "" a bakery in Fall River"". The noise level in the restaurant was unberable, no background music nothing! The prices were good, the desserts were also good, but the food was very average...nothing to brag about. Pros: good parking, no wait w/reservation, not too expensive Cons: noisy, no kids menu, service is average more

Magnifique!!! 12/13/2002

I thought the food was absolutely mouth watering and so delicious! Just thinking about it now, makes my mouth water!! Very delightful wait staff and very efficient! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves an authentic Portuguese meal with the atmosphere to boot!! Pros: great service, excellent food, great atmosphere Cons: some prices are high, parking needs improve more

Fantabulous 10/18/2002

I've only had one bad meal at Madeira, and it was overcooked. They did, however, re-make it for me. They have the best shrimp appetizer. The baked stuffed shrimp is awesome too. Different spices make it a nice change. Love the restaurant more
