Best happy hour!!!cannot beat the prices!!!!! 9/23/2011

This is me and my hubby's go to place for happy hour before 7pm, beers for $2? strong margaritas for $3.50 where else in the city can you get those prices, atmosphere is fun, bartenders are friendly. Great happy hour place in the neighborhood, brings in a different mixture of crowd, from edgy to after work hours corwd to neighborhood crowd.; if you need a margarita after work this is the place to go, good tequila, I need to eat something before I come here because after one drink, I am smashed! that's how good the bartender is. Now I eat before hand; the manager and waitresses are friendly. Also, had a meal with friends after work outdoors too, nice atmosphere more

WORST RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK! 7/22/2011

I tried to have a few pleasant drinks here but was thoroughly angered. The staff is the rudest that I've ever experienced in New York or elsewhere, and not to mention the food looks unsuitable for rats...just be kind to yourself and walk right by this place, you'll be glad you did. more

Friendly Staff Pricey booze 12/2/2010

Not bad for the Upper East Side. The staff is friendly, the food is pretty good (well-spiced, but slightly dry. I had the spiced chicken.) And the exotic tequila list is extensive. BUT... it ain't cheap. Check out the tequila menu:There were only two of us for the evening. The bill (with a tip) came to over $130. Ouch! more

Worst restaurant/bar in NY! 11/9/2010

This is by far the worst restaurant /bar on the UES! Full stop. Period! It is a slum! Your food is laced with rodent droppings (I am next calling the Dept of Health when i finish this review), the management rude and surley, and the staff awful. I am surprised that anyone would frequent a place like this-- not to mention work there (well I guess unemployment is high enough in NYC). I think if the Health Dept doesn't close them first, the IRS or Dept of Labor will-- given their workplace practices. Just an awful place given some very genial and pleasant places in the neighborhood-- and the crowd is a mix of low-lifes, bikers, and nobodies! Please do yourself a favor and stay far away! PS: I can see that this establishment has posted a comment about a former "regular"-- well sadly this is not that said "regular". Whatever is responsible for you cutting off this regular, I can assure him that you have done him a favor, and that he is missing nothing-- especially given the rich fabric of drinking and dining experiences within blocks of this dump. And as of this past Thurs the Dept of Health rated the Mustang with 60 critical violations: No kidding! Grounds to be closed-- Just so you know 28 violations is grounds for the DOH to close a restauarant! READ for yourself: a816-restaurantinspection.nyc.gov/RestaurantInspection/SearchDetails.do more

Worst Lunch Experience Ever 8/18/2010

I walked by this restaurant early this afternoon with a friend and decided to give it a try, i was having a pretty good experience until i noticed my server was walking to the table, being followed by a older woman yelling and screaming at her in front of us and another table, I can only assume that she was the owner as she was threatening to fire the poor girl, i do not know how the other guests in the restaurant felt but we were totally appalled, obviously this woman does not know that it is not pleasant to come into an establishment to have a quiet lunch , to only have it ruined by the owner yelling and screaming right in front of you. While the food and drinks were good, I will never return, nor will I recommend this place solely because of the lack of professionalism and disregard for her guests that this woman displayed. more

Fun night out 5/21/2010

Mustang's is a great, fun place on the UES. Came here most recently for Cinco de Mayo and secured a seat at the bar early and had a blast. They had drink specials and were handing out maracas, Coronas and shots. Their frozen margs are delicious and dangerous. Later on we split some quesadillas and empanadas which were solid. Overall, it was a great night and love coming here in the summer when you can sit outside! Pros: Fun atmosphere, outdoor seating more

One of my favorite spots 3/1/2010

Whenever i'm on this side of town, I make it a point to stop in at Mustang Grill. The food and menu selection is perfect and honestly, I could eat everything on it. The cocktail menu is extensive and provides drink choices for anyone's taste. My girlfriend's favorite is the Blushing Geisha, also make with Ty Ku and I like the liqueur with some tonic water. If you haven't made it here yet, make a point to come out. Pros: Fun atmosphere and awesome cocktails Cons: none more

Shots, Shots Shots! 2/18/2010

Whenever I find myself on the Upper East Side during a weekend night I also stop by here for a few margaritas and some yummy shots. My fave is the the Gang Green shot with citrus vodka and TY KU- goes down so smoothly. Great place to pre-party at! Pros: Good Music and Tasty Drinks! Cons: None more

never disappoints 1/25/2010

My girl loves this place so we're here at least once a month. I guess we're regulars now and the waitresses are dope, always helpful and what not. Most recently Jen...i think her name was suggested the winter vacation with tyku to go with our meal. The wifey could not stop raving about it, 4 drinks later and I had to carry her outta mustangs. I'm not gonna lie tho it was pretty good but maybe next time two drinks will be the max. Pros: drinks more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 11/19/2009

This neighborhood tequila house/grille is literally two blocks away from my apt, smack dab in the middle of (in my opinion) one of the most exciting and up and coming neighborhoods on the fabulous island of Manhattan. I will admit, I have given this place a visit once or twice for drinks during the summer when it was still tolerable to sit outside. Unfortunately, the service was less than desirable this time around. This evening, I brought my dad to Mustangs to grab a quick bite and a drink only to apologize at the end of the meal for an unacceptable experience. Not only did our server disregard our table and not take our order in a timely fashion, he stood at the table directly next to ours and proceeded to chat with them about random topics for over 20 minutes (and I’m not embellishing) when he had yet to even take our order. I soon got the attention of the manager, thinking that he would defuse this problem and perhaps speed up the process of our meal, yet he seemed to care less than our server did about the level of service that we were receiving. It’s unfortunate that our neighborhood is forced to put up with this type of establishment that does nothing more than take up space in the middle of our upbeat little strip. My advice? Beef up the customer service, and tackle some serious issues of laziness. Pros: Great plates, fantastic selection of Tequilla Cons: Draft beer was warm, staff was unattentive... more

DEEP-SIX THE DJ!!! 8/15/2009

Overall I'm content with my visits to Mustang but their tunes selections SUX!!! I don't mind listening to Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, the Doors, the Clash, Rolling Stones. But do we have to hear the same ol same ol EVERY DAY over the... last several months???? The joint used to play a variety of music during the happy hours, including good Latin songs. Maybe I need to wear an ipod while sipping my margaritas.Read More Pros: Attractive crowd, great margaritas, happy hour, good food Cons: Their happy hour music needs to DIE!!! more

Great Food and Great Drinks! 7/18/2009

My boyfriend and I eat regularly here. This is one of the best "quick eats" places on second avenue. The bloody mary's are great (very spicy) and I highly recommend the shrimp with chorizo rice (Mmm tasty). The only problem is that they have a high turnaround of servers (with good reason too, because there are only a few that are actually pleasant). At other restaurants that we regularly go to, we feel at home but not here. We continue to go back because of the food and drinks, but have never felt that welcomed. I recommend checking this place out for the food, but dont' have high expectations for service. Pros: Food, drinks and location Cons: service and remembering who is a regular more

good atmosphere, so-so food, ues locals 2/26/2009

one of the better spots on second avenue followed by the stumble inn and brother jimmys. so-so food. more

Late at Night on weekends! 7/5/2008

If you're craving a burrito or some tacos late at night, you definitely need to come here! The decor is colorful and the clientele is diverse. Not exactly the cleanest place..but the food is just what one is looking for late at night or after a sweaty basketball game! Have fun! more

Awesome time at Mustang Grill!!!! 6/30/2008

My friends and I held a birthday part a Mustang Grill the other night. We had a really good time. They restaurant gave us this really nice back room, so it made our party more private. The service was very good. The waitress took really good care of us. We ordered a lot of appetizers; my favorite was the enchiladas and the chicken quesadillas. They have really good guacamole too! The margaritas were really good especially the iguana and the silver snake. We all had a really good time and I?m definitely going to be going back. more

Make sure to check out the specials!!!! 6/30/2008

My boyfriend and I went to eat at Mustang Grill last Thursday. We sat down, and the server took our order for my favorite strawberry margaritas. Before she left she suggested and explained a few things on the "specials menu". She was very nice and the restaurant was very busy. I appreciated that she was taking her time to explain to us what they had and was not rushing because I knew she was very busy. I have been there to eat a few times now and never really paid attention to exactally what was on the specials menu but from now on I?m going to make sure I do because the food was so delicious!!! We shared the tilapia and the soft crab shell salad, which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood. There were both so yummy. So to all those who eat at Mustang Grill, pay attention to the specials, they are unbelievable!! Pros: food and service were both great! more

amazing atmosphere!!!!! 6/30/2008

My friend and I decided to walk around the other night to try to find a place to eat. We decided on Mustang Grill because from outside it seems like a fun place to enjoy dinner and drinks. Specifically, because of the outside cafe, the colorful interior, decorations, the great music, the attractive staff, and the open doors in the front make it very inviting to come in. We went in and sat down and ordered our first round of drinks. I ordered a tasty strawberry mojito and my friend ordered a huge peach margarita and a flight. The drinks were so good, but the flights were amazing!!!! You could get four different kinds of tequila for a really good price. If you like tequila I would definitely recommend them!!!! Our food was very good. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and the pecan chicken and the jumbo shrimp for our entrees. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I enjoyed my night tremendously and I?m definitely going back!!! P.S. the music was great! more

Only review you need to read on this spot**update 09 6/27/2008

Just had to post. We ordered drinks. 5 minutes later orderd food. Apps came and were eaten before we ever got our first drink. Waiter noticed and apologized foor the new bartender who was "retarded". A little uncooth to say but we got his point. We got it even more when we ordered our shots of Patron at $14 a pop and as i swung mine back, 3 little ice cubes fell on my teeth and blocked the route to my mouth sending my shot all over my face and shirt. seriously??!! Ice cubes in my shot glass..WTF..i guess he wasnt kidding and she really is retarded. Thats ok if she is but the drinks should be cheaper becasue they get a tax break for her working there. do not go if you do not intend on drinking.. Food is good and pricey.. but only works when accompanied by lots of tequila. If you like tequila this is the place to go. usually attractive crowd. affordable tequila if you order 4 at a time (which is the only way to do it) great margheritas too . . . if you are looking for a nice dinner spot look elswhere if you are looking for a mild party on the UES look no further, its always comfortably crowded. Pros: drinks, crowd Cons: whack music selection more

The worst restaurant I've been to in NYC 6/19/2008

My boyfriend and I go to eat early on Sunday evening and hear that Mustang is good. It's beautiful out, see that there's no less than 4 open tables outside, so we request to be seated outside. The hostess tells us that there's a 20-30 minute wait to be seated outside. There were EMPTY TABLES outside and very few people at the bar who could have been waiting. We are seated by a window inside instead. We order - I order the vegetable burrito with cheese and my boyfriend the ribs. The Waitress does not write our order down. She walks away, then comes back to confirm the order since she forgot in 30 seconds. 25 minutes later, my boyfriend's ribs and a fajita arrive. I remind the waitress that I ordered the burrito, so she takes it back. My boyfriend eats his ribs, which he says were nothing better than just OK. Another 20 minutes later, my burrito finally comes out. It was possibly the worst burrito ever made. The whole wheat flour tortilla was dry and crumbly, there was some sort of disgusting brown sauce under it and the cheese I had requested was slapped on top and barely melted. I expected at least an apology from the waitress that my food took so long and that she made a mistake. The 45 minute wait for the awful food was ridiculous. Then we asked for the check, and the waitress brought us the wrong check, which wouldn't have been so bad, except it was a continuation of her mistakes. My $15 would have been much better spent at Blockhead's or Chipolte - at least the food at those places tastes good and the service there was 1000% better than we received at Mustang's. Pros: Outside seating, if you can get it Cons: Service bordering on incompetent, expensive tasteless food more

Awesome Neighborhood Spot 6/3/2008

I've been living on the UES for about a year and half. This weekend I finally got to Mustang Grill. I always see how busy it is and now I know why. My friends and I were greeted by the most beautiful hostess I have ever seen. We opted to go to the bar for drinks first though. Bartender was really cool and made for a fun time. We notified the hostess that we'd like a table outside and we were seated promptly. Having come from the bar I was expecting bar type food, but boy was I amazed!! I had probably the best piece of tuna I had ever had. My friends went for fajitas and burritos and both were enormously sized. We all left VERY happy. Great bar, even better food and the price is right!!! Pros: bartenders, hostess, food Cons: nothing more
