The SceneLutsen offers four mountain peaks with 90 runs, plus rock-lined trails, awesome views, and it's right on Lake Superior at the edge of Superior National Forest. While it's no Colorado, Lutsen towers above its regional competitors, with slopes more than twice as high as anything you'll find within driving distance. The SlopesExpert skiers head straight to Moose Mountain, finding a challenge on the Plunge or North Face Couloirs. Intermediate skiers usually hit Eagle Mountain, with its long, cruising runs. Eagle's also a big hit with snowboarders, who flock to Sawtooth Ridge for a 400-foot half-pipe and terrain park. The ski school is closest to Ullr Mountain's easygoing runs. Mystery Mountain has long, winding trails, great for beginners and intermediates. The gondola makes short work of getting from the base of Ullr to near the summit of Moose. The mountain is also serviced by one surface tow and seven double chairlifts.Vital StatsVertical drop: 986 feetBase elevation: 702 feetTop elevation: 1,688 feetLifts: Nine, tow rope for Bunny HillSkiable acres: 1,000Beginner terrain: 18 percent Intermediate terrain: 47 percent Advanced terrain: 35 percent Snowboarding: No park or separate runs, but snowboarding is allowed on all ski runs
