Overrated Brooklyn Hair Salon 6/20/2008

Lush is very over rated. I think they must come here themselves and rate this place. It is pretty and they do offer you water or coffee, but there is nothing else special about this place. I had a color and cut with the stylist they all speak about below. No one even noticed - not my best friend or boyfriend. It cost me twice what I regularly pay and I didn't think it was worth it. Pros: pretty salon Cons: color and cut the same as every other cheaper salon in Brooklyn more

See Helen, she is wonderful!! 6/14/2008

I have been unhappy with my stylist lately so I began asking around for a new stylist and I heard about Helen at Lush. I went on city search and read all the great reviews and decided I had to try Lush for myself. I went to Helen and she first consulted with me before they even washed my hair. She had some great new ideas and really listened to what I wanted and and it showed in the final results. She gave me the most beautiful highlights and the cut is amazing. I felt great when I left and so many people noticed!!! I recieved so many compliments. I actually got stopped on the train and they asked where I got my hair cut and colored. I am so happy I found Helen and Lush and I will be recommending her to everyone. Pros: great skill and knowledge and it shows Cons: Parking more

I'm THRILLED! 4/8/2008

So I had a wedding to attend this past weekend. I had my color done last week with Eric and my hair and make-up done with Stephanie on Sunday. Eric has been doing my color for over 6 years now and I absolutely love it every single time. But this time he added a few lighter pieces around my face and i got sooo many compliments. Everyone was asking me at the wedding who did my hair and I told them just go to Lush and you won't be disappointed. Thank you again Eric and Stephanie for my beautiful hair. Pros: Upscale environment, great cappucinos, experienced staff more

Helen ROCKS!!!! 4/3/2008

What makes a great salon is not the decor or services - it is the staff. Helen is out of this world. She does the best cuts I have ever received (and I am VERY picky - she can tell u that too!) She also styles my hair anyway I want and every time I leave there I get sooo many compliments on my hair. I booked her and my whole bridal party for the day of my wedding the results were amazing. I wish I could go to her EVERYDAY - HELEN ROCKS!!!! Pros: Helen Cons: parking more

Outstanding & Innovative 1/25/2008

Having had the same salon for 15 years, it was time for a change. Friends recommended Lush NY in Bay Ridge, I walked in and the first impression is great. The Salon is clean and professional, nothing you'd expect to see in Brooklyn. The decor sticks to the fundamentals of ""Less is More"". This is an Upper Manhattan class salon. The staff was warm and welcoming, I felt right at home. Stephanie cut my hair and I have to say she has a unique talent. She was innovative and my hair have not looked so good in years. I think I'll keep them for awhile........ Pros: Beautiful Salon, friendly staff, professional, comfortable. Cons: Parking in Bay Ridge more

Average service. 12/18/2007

I went to Lush after reading the great reviews online. I previously would go to Cavale but grew tired of paying $100 for a hair cut. The lady at Lush took time out to listen to what I wanted and was very knowledgeble about the current trends. She was very experienced, telling me she had been cutting hair for over 15 yrs. She cut my hair about only 2 inches (I told her I liked my hair long) and wanted layers. I can BARELY see the layers. She did a good job cutting my side bangs, to the length I wanted. I paid $62 to just cut 2 inches... plus I tipped the stylist and shampoon girl. I don't feel like Im saving much money compared to Cavale for the average cut she gave me. Also, NONE of my friends or family members even noticed I got a hair cut. Sorry but this place isnt for me. It is definitely an average place and worth giving a try though. I am seriously starting to think about going to those cheap little asian hair salons where I can trim two inches and my bangs for $20..... Pros: Friendly staff, does not feel snobby or uptight. Cons: Cheaper than most, but still expensive more

very very nice 10/25/2007

let me start by saying my friend has told me number of times to go to lush to her hair dresser cause she loves her so much all i hear about is grace this and grace that i finally went to lush and i couldnt be more happy with what i got out of that place i have never gone to a hair dresser who listened as i spoke i have gone twice and both times i must say great great Pros: they are very friendly Cons: nothing yet more

Good Salon and Customer Service 9/25/2007

I went to this salon after reading many of the good reviews and from word of mouth. I visited this salon after having my hair ruined someplace else. The staff was extremely nice and accomaditing. The owner Eric was very nice and asked me exactly what I wanted. The color turned out great and the blowout aftewards was great as well. I recommend this salon and will be returning. Pros: Nice staff and they listen to what you want more

Best highlights, good service. 6/28/2007

I have long blonde hair and have to touch up my highlights every three months or so. I have had my hair done twice at other salons in manhattan, with relatively pleasing results. However, I needed a more ""alive"" colour to my highlights. After a long long search for best rated highlight salons, Lush came up as a favourite. As always, there were mixed reviews. I decided to take the long journey out to Brooklyn, almost the last stop on the train. The salon easily accommodated me, and I met with Eric on Saturday morning. He consulted, had a look at my hair and started his magic. The outcome: only the colour you dream of having in your hair. I was extremely satisfied. Half a head of highlights, $120. Perfection, and affordable. I am two weeks short of having it done 3 months ago, and the colour is still vivid, and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this for any blonde girl, who likes fine highlights. I will definitely go back for touch ups in July. Oh, and did I mention they have their own espresso/cappuchino maker..... and offer wine. How can you not love it! Pros: Perfect colour more

Simply AMAZING! 4/5/2007

I have to say that the service I received at this salon was like no other. Everyone was soooo friendly and I did not feel intimidated. My colorist Eric Thomas listened very carefully to what haircolor I wanted and executed it perfectly. My highlights were blended beautifully. Something that no colorist has been able to pull off in the past. Along with my beautiful new color, Stephanie gave me one of the best cuts. I would highly recommend Lush. I read the previous review and would have to totally disagree with this person. Every other review of this place was so great. My friends come here also and absolutely love it. I can't wait to go back. Pros: service, hair knowledge, friendly staff. Cons: parking more

Lack of Communication ! 4/3/2007

I was less than impressed with my recent experience at Lush Hair Salon. When I first arrived at the salon the colorist quickly whipped up the dye (for my highlights) without asking me what shade of blond I wanted. Also, the colorist neglected to ask me what technique of highlights I desired (thin, chunky). I feel there was a profound lack of communication between my colorist and I. As a result, my highlights were streaky and uneven, in a boring unblended yellow that was way too light for my base. There was nothing individual, creative, refreshing, or ""lush"" about the look in which I was given. I would strongly suggest that YOU make sure you and your stylist are on the same wave length before the foils are set. However, as professionals they shouldn't have to be reminded of this. Don't say I didn't warn you! Pros: Lavish Decor more

Avoid a color disaster and visit Riccardo 4/1/2007

I've finally found my Hero Colorist. After trying others in the neighborhood I walked into Lush,N.Y.and there he was. Riccardo corrected all the damage that was done by others and brought my hair back to life. Not only was he a doll, but the entire staff of Lush made me feel relaxed and pampered. Not like feeling like your in a three ring circus like some of the other salons close by. Riccardo is an American Board Certified Colorist and I would trust him with any color challange. And, for all of us Blondes, he's the best. I will never trust anyone else but him. Believe me, he's worth visiting. Also, Helen cut and styled my hair. Bravo to her. They both made me look like a million dollars. Pros: great coustmer service Cons: parking more

Cutting Edge 3/24/2007

My experience at Lush was out-of-this-world! The salon itself is impressive, not to mention the fabulous cut and color I received! I have spent notable amounts of money and time at upscale trendy Manhattan salons, and none of them come close to the superior service I received at this Brooklyn hot spot. The highly trained staff at this salon did an amazing job making me feel not only comfortable, but special. Hair stylist Stephanie gave me a mind blowing cut, and Colorist Eric left me with breath taking color! I have never had a better cut and color; for the first time I feel like I have beautiful hair, who knew! Pros: talented, highly trained staff more

Stephanie gave me the best haircut - listened to me, looked at my pictures, cut for my face shape - just perfect!! 3/14/2007

I found Lush on citysearch and decided to give it a try because of its already-high ratings. Lush's atmosphere is very calming, their staff immediately took my jacket, gave me a cloak to change into so my sweater would stay hair-free. The hair-washer gave me a 5-min shiatsu massage (what a bonus!) before my cut. Stephanie asked me what I wanted to do with my cut (with dry hair, so she could actually see length/how the hair falls, etc.), and executed everything I asked for! She took off a good amount of length (with my approval), and the entire time I had so much confidence in her skill as a stylist that I was not shaken by the increasing pile of hair on the floor. Excellent blow-out followed by even more cutting - she is a true perfectionist and it shows. I walked out with my new Kerastase products and my BEAUTIFUL new haircut. Lush is 100% recommended - I will be back without question!! Pros: Wonderful staff, midrange pricing $80 for long-hair, stylist communication!! Cons: Bay Ridge is a little far, expensive (but worth it) products more

Great place 12/16/2006

Being new to the area, I used Citysearch and found Lush New York salon. I have to say the original reviews of this place were correct. I was extremely happy with my experience as well. My stylist/colorist Helen did a great job on my hair. more

Loved Lush! 8/19/2006

What can I say? Fabulous hair, beautiful decor, and the best customer service I ever received in any salon. They even carry Kerastase hair products and treatments. Absolutely LOVED them. Pros: excellent color and cut, city-like vibe, friendly service. Cons: none! more

Absolutely Fabulous! 8/19/2006

First of all Lush New York is one of the most beautiful salons I've seen. They even won an award for their beautiful design in Salon Today magazine. I was VERY impressed. I received such beautiful highlights from the owner Eric. He was so knowledgeable and professional about hair color. He suggested the perfect shade for my skin tone and eye color. I've been to quite a few salons in the area and even some very big ones in the city and found the work and customer service to be superior at Lush. Such a surprise from a smaller Brooklyn salon. I can't wait to back for one of their delicious cappuccinos as well. Pros: Kerastase products, beautiful decor, highly trained staff. Cons: Parking more

This salon is fabulous!!! 7/17/2006

With all the salons in the area I've spent alot of wasted time and money trying to find the right one but now I have finally found it. Lush is wonderful. I recently got married and Helen took care of all my hair needs. She did an amazing job with the cut and color a week prior to my wedding. and then on that day she did my hair and makeup. It was exactly what I wanted and it came out beautiful! The prices were great and worth it!! more

LOOK NO FURTHER 7/5/2006

You have to try it to believe it. The staff is highly experienced and they give you royal tratment. Pros: experienced staff more
