Best Italian Pastry & Cakes in CT 7/30/2009

I have traveled the state and whenever I see an Italian bakery I stop and try a cannoli. From Greenwich to Hartford and everything in between, nothing beats Lucibello's. Their cakes are outstanding. Four generations of my family have been getting desserts there for over 50 years. more

a great New Haven pastry shop 3/30/2007

Lucibello's is a great pastry shop in New Haven, well worth a trip from the suburbs. During Lent, in time for St. Joseph's Day (March 19), they make yummy zeppole, which are filled with either chocolate or vanilla creme or ricotta filling. A must, every springtime without fail! Their cannoli Siciliani (ricotta filling) are as good as any I've had in Italy. And their sfogliatelle (some people call them clam shells) taste just like the ones I enjoyed in Sorrento last year. Just one correction on Liz W's review - Lucibello's is NOT the pastry shop located next to Pepe's Pizza - that shop is called Libby's. Although Libby's has a sit-down section, Lucibello's does not. Lucibello's is not open later at night, as Libby's is. Lucibello's is closed on Tuesdays. Nothing against Libby's, I'd go there in a pinch - but given a choice, I'd choose Lucibello's every single time. Just take one step into that shop - well, that must be what Heaven smells like! more

Super yummy cannoli 8/21/2005

The yummiest Italian bakery in New Haven. Located near door to the famous Pepe's Pizza, Lucibello's is equally as famous and as tasty. Whether you stand in line for Italian cookies or a piled high cannoli you won't be disappointed. Lucibello's also has a cafe to sit and sip an authentic cappuccino. My favorite is a plain cannoili with powered sugar. more

The smell will get'cha 8/13/2005

Lucibello's is a staple of New Haven's bakery. Their canolli's are what makes them popular and they are as authentic Italian as you can be. They are located at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Olive Streets and their parking lot is average size. They can be extremely busy, so if you are going there first thing in the morning or after work, be prepared to wait. During the summertime, they'll introduce their Italian ices -- vanilla, chocolate and lemon. The vanilla has chunks of vanilla bean in it, and you can smell it from a mile away. Make sure you stop in and try some of their terrific baked goods. more
