Shop where Madonna shopped in the 80's... 8/21/2005

In the 1985 movie Desperately Seeking Susan, Madonna buys the leather jacket that helps to define her character. Nothing much has changed in this store in the twenty years since the movie came out. The inventory gets sold obviously but they seem to have an endless supply and replenish the quirky clothing, toys and old magazines so the store is always crowded with stuff. more

The more fun you'll ever have on a blast from the past! 8/20/2005

The moment you step in you giggle with the funny sign on the door and the assortment of things that will stir your memories. I was so psyched to see Hello Kitty, Pez dispensers, Carebears, Pound Puppies, jelly bangle bracelets, those weird charm necklaces we used to wear and the biggest assortment of barbie accessories I've ever seen! Their location is great too because it's a short walk to Pommes Frites where you can get sinfully yummy fresh cut belgium french fries with all kinds of dipping sauces and you're literally around the corner from the east village hot spots. I love this place! I hope they're around to make my son feel like an old fart someday! more

A Blast From the Past 8/19/2005

This is a great store for people to see things from there childhood. I love the sign on the door that warns "Unattended children will be sold as slaves". It is wall to wall of vintage items, such as old magazines(Playboy, Time), old toys from MAcdonalds or Burger king, vintage clothing, figures, lunch boxes. You can items from Care Bears, Pez dispensers, Batman, superman, Smurfs, Happy Days, Elvis, and many many more! more

tons of fun 8/5/2005

I can’t very well write about Toy Tokyo and not write about Love Saves the Day. They’re right next to each other, for one thing. While Toy Tokyo focus on toys, Love Saves the Day has just about everything from buttons to lunch boxes. The selection’s a lot of fun, but it can be difficult to find anything specific. I highly recommend window-shopping (they’ve always got great displays) or browsing. more
