great place to ride a bicycle 4/11/2008

The greatest city in the world. I have lived in this diverse city for 50 years. I also raised my children here. This unique city has everything. 50 minutes from NYC , 30 minutes from JFK, 2 minutes to most major parkways, 45 minutes from one of the biggest malls in the country. We have great schools, beaches, 2.2 mile long boardwalk resturants, swimming pool, ice skating rink and fantastic people. I will never leave this fantastic community. Pros: Boardwalk and Beach Cons: No hotels and tough to find a parking spot from May to October more

Long Beach 5/22/2003

Threre are a lot of things that are great about Long Beach; lots of fabulous restaurants, a great new movie theatre, not to mention a beautiful beach AND a 2 mile long boardwalk. One thing that IS missing however, is lodging. If only there was an ocean front hotel, or even one not ocean front, but in Long Beach, then it would be perfect. Also, we have this expansive ocean front, but not one nice restaurant on the ocean. & I'm not talking about the food court on the boardwalk. Pros: boardwalk, ocean, restaurants Cons: no lodging more

I Grew Up There 5/19/2003

Having lived in LB for over 20 years, growing up there and all that (still visit family regularly), it is a nice place. The surfing beach though, is Lincoln, not Neptune. And the cops are like the Gestapo if you ever want to bring a dog on the beach after hours. Best time to go? In the winter, early mornings. Leaving LB has made me appreciate the beach much more during the off-season. Also, when you get out of the train, walk a few blocks east or west to get away from the major crowds that flock straight down Edwards or National Blvds. For the best pizza, go to Gino's - directly across from the LIRR. more

LB is the Key! 7/18/2002

Being from LI, I've always loved LB. Great for its beaches, bars and nightlife. Also only a 45 minute train ride from Manhattan. more

You can see it during approaches and take-offs from JFK: five miles of wide, sandy beach and about two-and-a-half miles of boardwalk. The western segment of the beach features...
