Lone Star Floors did a fabulous job for me installing a new hardwood floor; they were clear and concise about exactly what they would do. They kept everything immaculately clean. The job was done professionally and to a high standard. And their price beat everyone’s! They are very pleasant to work with, and did a wonderful job. I highly recommend them. more

Their kolaches are just "OK" 7/10/2006

We had family in town visiting us and we took them to visit "The Kolache Factory" which we had been to a few times in the past and knew was very good. Lone Star Kolaches is closer to us and is located conveniently just off of Grand Parkway/Highway 99 (just off of Highland Knolls) on your way to I-10. We decided to stop and get some on our way out the other day. We were very disappointed, and they definitely didn't even compare to the Kolache Factory. They have a sign with the menu items written in chalk above the counter. I am assuming that perhaps they change on a daily basis. Their selection seemed limited to me and there was only one option that included eggs (and it came with a ranchero sauce, as well). They had a few different fruit flavors (apricot, peach, apple, cherry, and strawberry). Many of the fruit flavors also come with cream cheese, which I was not interested in. I tried the peach and the strawberry ones. To me, it seemed like a big dinner roll with jelly or preserves smeared on top. The dough was also very sweet, so when you mixed the two together, it was way too sweet for me. I also tried a ham and cheese kolache and it was very big, but the "ham" was diced and there was only a small bit of it off in one corner - it wasn't well distributed at all, so I just felt like I was eating bread. The dough on this one was very sweet as well. They do offer other items such as donuts and sweet rolls as well as a "coffee bar" but we didn't try any of these items. The location is very small and there was no place to sit and eat, so we ate them in the car. Everyone in our group agreed that The Kolache Factory has much better kolaches and a much better selection. Also, at The Kolache Factory, they serve their kolaches "hot" and if they are not warm when you order them, they will warm them for you. This was not the case at Lone Star Kolaches. They are also more expensive than The Kolache Factory. The kolaches were "OK" but we will probably not be going back any time soon. more

Great Kolaches 8/6/2005

Some of the best Kolaches you will ever have. We love this place. Everything is of course made fresh. Wide selection of what you can get. They have more menu items than just kolaches, they have doughnuts and other bakery items. They have a place where you can sit down and eat there, but we usually get a box to take home. more
