We celebrated a birthday last night and were wowed by Log Haven

Worst

I, too, agree with the other review...in thinking that all of the good ratings must be from the owners of this restaurant. As we ordered, the waitress appologized for the size eve...

Great Birthday Experience! 11/2/2011

Loved our wedding day! 5/26/2011

The entire staff at Log Haven was fantastic. Those whom we worked closely with were Faith, Joni and Brenda. I was blown away with their experience, approachability, professionalism and kindness. We felt as though they were just as excited and involved in our wedding as our own families. We have not one complaint about the event and want to thank you tremendously for your efforts. We look forward to spending our anniversary at Log Haven for years to come in remembered of our special day. more

Premier restaurant in Utah! 4/24/2011

We were fortunate enough to be seated at a corner window table with a view to the waterfall. It flowed into a creek and we watched its beautiful force during our evening. Which was very lovely. Patrick was an amazing server and very knowledgeable - he matched wines with each course and they were perfect pairings. Especially enjoyed the fresh halibut and the coconut souffle - do not miss this dessert!! I am and will always be a fan of this restaurant. It is the premier establishment in Utah! more

Perfect and Extraordinary 3/22/2011

This was a rare treat - a perfect setting, friendly service, great food and even live music! It is impossible to wrap up all of these experiences into one evening but Log Haven far exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!! Can't wait to return. more

Valentine's Day to Remember 2/18/2011

Those reviews that call Log Haven the best restaurant in Utah are spot on. We were enchanted by our experience here from the moment we drove up to the valet. This the warmest welcome, the most charming site, a superbly executed menu and the finest service we have ever received. The wine list is extraordinary, as one would expect of a restaurant that is truly handcrafted. Romantic, friendly and understated will always win out over 'glitz.' I am so grateful for the kindness extended to us. It was a Valentine's Day we will never forget more

Beautiful and Perfect Wedding 12/6/2010

I had my wedding at Log Haven in June. One of the most serene and beautiful locations at Log Haven is their garden meadow. Faith, the banquet manager was very knowledgeable and helped us through the entire process. They provided a packet of information to aid us in any questions we had, which was a nice bonus. It was a smooth process and their documentation was very thorough and organized. It was wonderful to know that they would help us through the rehearsal and had thought through so many small details that I hadn?t considered. We rented the outdoor patio for our reception and loved having our own private waterfall. The staff was very attentive and took great care of us and our guests. The lead server was incredibly helpful and added a lot to our perfect night. OMG the food was amazing. I didn?t know chicken could taste so spectacular (can I have the recipe for the sauce?) and the displays of the food were so pretty we had our photographer take pictures before we started through the buffet. Thank you Log Haven Staff for a beautiful ceremony and dinner. Your staff is far superior to its competitors. Thank you for a wonderful night! more

Unpolished 9/25/2010

Log Haven's reputation seemed to have been sterling for special events and that is what drew our family there for our event. It is such a beautiful location at any time of year, but the location is the only item that came through in our special event experience. We planned and scheduled 6 months ahead, and called, emailed and met with event staff, to try and assure that we knew what to expect, what the cost would be, and what the restaurant would provide with regard to service, venue and food. Unfortunately the experience was not what we had been lead to believe it would be. What should have been a relatively worry free and joyous event was filled with angst and sluggish service that appeared unprepared. After all of the planning and working on beautiful decor, collecting vintage vases for floral arrangements, and coordinating a team to set up, the restaurant was not prepared on their end. Rehearsals overlapped for the event and were rushed by the coordinating staff. The venue was not adaquately prepared for the weather that day, as it promised it could be, and the staff was not helpful, and infact were curt and even at times rude or unavailable. The meal started late because a dish wasn't ready so several guests left before eating. Despite a provision of having staff there to pace the event and over see that things were done in a timely manner, this didn't happen. Guests were asking the family and bride and groom when dinner would be served, when desert would be served, where the bathroom was, and many simply left early, most not staying for the traditional cake. Once the meal buffet was ready for guests it was a disappointment to find that the menu was not at all as it had been presented. Althought the food was the same, it was all served as a coldcut and tray style for a fall evening event, which was not at all what we had expected. I would not recommend this restaurant for any special event with the current staff and scheduling policies there. more

Lovely and Delicious 5/6/2009

This was my first time to Log Haven and we will definitely be back again. We went to Log Haven to celebrate our wedding anniversary because we heard it was a nice romantic place. Its a cozy cottage looking restaurant. Quiet and romantic indeed. The service was fantastic and the food delish!! We spent about $100 for the 2 of us plus the extra for tip, but it was worth it. We don't drink so the money was spent all on food :) I loved it!! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service more

Lovely Evening in a Beautiful Setting 2/13/2009

My husband and I went for our anniversary, and just fell in love (with the restaurant, we fell in love with one another a while back). Although I have heard of Log Haven for years, this was the first time I went. It is lovely in winter, with sparkling icicles, beautiful snow drifts, and a sense of being in a secluded, cozy cabin away from the elements. The service was good, the food was excellent, and we had a perfect seat near the fireplace. We are slightly ""foodie"" in our tastes, and the lobster and steak was all we hoped for - tender steak and delectable lobster. We tried the calamari and were impressed, and the creme brulee was also good. Altogether, the perfect venue for a romantic meal in the mountains. I look forward to returning and trying some of the more adventurous meals on offer. more

Impressive Restaurant 2/2/2009

I was very impressed with this restaurant. I took my girlfriend for a very romantic night and later on proposed to her. This is one of the few high class establishments in Northern Utah. The food presentation was excellent the taste was wonderful. The price was that of a high class restaurant. Will be back for a 2nd time. By the way she said YES! Thank you for an excellent experience and will be back for a ""second date"" but this time with my wife not girlfriend! Pros: Excellent experience - high class establishment. more

Not enough superlatives! 1/28/2009

There are not enough superlatives to describe our experience at the Log Haven. Thank you all for a wonderful night. The return of Chef Jones we were told has, in the staff's minds, bettered the experience. having never dined here we cannot say. But, his menu is exquisite with something for everyone. The tastes were well blended. Presentation unreal. The service is top of the line. We were not rushed to our table but were able to enjoy a cocktail by the beautiful fireplace while our son enjoyed viewing the memorabilia scattered around the restaurant and its entrance area. Did we forget to mention that the wonderful food, services, etc., were all enjoyed while the Log Haven was on generator power. Our trip from NC to UT will be remembered from the evening we spent with all of you in your beautiful restaurant. We will come back to see the waterfall lit up next time we are in Salt Lake. 5 star! more

So Sad 1/19/2009

What was once one of the premier dining experiences in Utah has become an over priced banquet hall. When Log Haven opened in the mid 90's it was wonderful, everything was fresh and unique, now it's sad and contrived. Maybe they should take a clue from Millcreek Inn and do one thing right instead of two things poorly. Fine dining they are not. Pros: Setting Cons: Everything else. more

Log Haven Dog Days Very Nice Dinner for us and the pooch 7/24/2008

Went to Log Haven's Dog Days of Summer last night. Fabulous meal and service. They went out of their way to treat us and our dog very well. The setting was beautiful, food wonderful and we were able to watch the ""floor show"" of our dog and another dog have fun running around, chasing each other and wrestling. We will definitely go back. more

Exquisite Wedding 7/23/2008

Thank you so much for all your hard work & helping with countless details and decisions! Everything was absolutely perfect! We planned everything in the winter and had to trust you on what it would be like...the pictures don't do it justice! None of our guests could get over the beauty of it all! We're still hearing about how wonderful the scenery was. Thanks again! more

Best in the state! 6/26/2008

An incredible restaurant. What a find! Pros: Thumbs way up for everything. Cons: Nada more

Amazing Experience 5/27/2008

My Friend and I dine out together once per month, we take turns choosing the restaurant. Friday night 5/23/08 Log Haven was her choice. The ambiance was amazing, our view incredible and the food divine. We had a wonderful time. The staff was professional and all lent to an amazing experience. I would recommend this establishment to anyone and plan on taking my husband for Father?s Day. Pros: Everything Cons: Note to Parents.. Leave your small children and Babies at home only you enjoy them. more

What a disappointment 5/19/2008

My husband and I shared our first date at Log Haven over 6 years ago and recently returned to celebrate our anniversary. What use to be a fabulous dining experience has turned out to be a huge disappointment in service, menu, and quality of food. The manager himself was extremely rude when asked to open the bottle of wine we brought and our server did not know the menu, behaving very 'plastic' during the entire evening. When we did get our food it honestly tasted terrible. Log Haven use to be such a romantic, delicious fine dining choice and now I would only go to enjoy the waterfall - eat somewhere else. Pros: Mature landscaping; waterfall across the street Cons: Poor quality of food and poor service more

Best in the state 5/17/2008

I was referred to this restaurant as the place for dining in Salt Lake. Web-site has nice photos - but it is eye-popping in person. Log cabin atmosphere with waterfall views. The food is spectacular - not over complicated, stuffy - but approachable, solid and cutting-edge cuisine. I visited with several friends and we passed our dishes around with elation at the different flavors and styles. We will be back whenever we are in town! The server was knowledgeable and professional. Variety of wines represented on their wine list. I loved that its ambiance was comfortable and we did not have to be formally dressed. There were several in our party and the timing of our three courses was perfect. One person has special dietary needs and was accommodated beautifully by the chef. I recommend the fried calamari, bison and the creme brulee. It truly is a must for Utah - unbelievable views, outstanding menu, and top-notch service. Pros: Beautiful views, excellent cuisine and stellar service. more

Overrated, overpricerd 4/17/2008

Last Saturday, March 1st, 2008, I celebrated my thirtieth birthday by dining at Log Haven. Prior to this meal, I had read many favorable reviews of thisrestaurant and was very eager to try it. Let me start by saying, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. Pros: Nice ambience Cons: It's overpriced and overrated. The food was terrible the service was worse. more

Two strikes and your out. 2/21/2008

After much prodding by friends I tried Log Haven 5 years ago. The service was terrible and the food was less than thrilling. After hearing from friend that the service had improved and the food was great I decided to try it again. With an open mind I gave it a try. This time the service was slightly better. Atleast the waitress did not insult us this time. The food however had not improved. The concepts were interesting but the execution was poor. The sauces were not tight and flavorful. They either had too much liquor or too much salt. If you like ambiance this is a good place, but beware the food and service are greatly lacking. Pros: Good canyon views Cons: Continually bad serivce and bland food. more
