We've just returned from Valentine's weekend at the Windsor Court where our package included dinner at the Grill Room. I had always heard good things about the restaurant but had...

Service at the W 7/7/2010

I was a delegate at the NEA Convention from June 30-July 7 . I stayed at the W for 7 nights for a so called convention rate of $196.00 per night;OUTRAGEOUS. No DVD player in room as advertised as standard amenities, there was a remote, but no player. I requested a coffee maker, and was informed they did not provide coffee makers in their rooms, because complimentary coffee was served on the 2nd floor. The hotel is in a good location, very noisy and crowded because of Essence Music Festival. On July 1 paid $1,532.72 for my full stay. On checkout July 7, was astonished to learn they wanted to charge an additional $132.08. On the first night they charged a rate of $241.56, which was the incorrect rate. They could not give any plausible explanation, the young lady who checked me out said she was new. The female manager on duty could not explain the charge either. She eventually credited my account back $112.00, I will check my bank account daily. She did not offer an apology for their mistake. Make sure you check your bill daily if you plan on staying at the W. Pros: Darryl works the garage area, delightful, helpful, pleasant. Cons: Small room; no dresser drawers more

The food was good, but after returning home, I found I had been overcharged on my bill. It has been almost two weeks and after speaking to Edwin (the manager), no-one has returned my call with an apology and remedy to the overcharge. For an upscale restaurant, that is unacceptable. Pros: Very nice decor, food was very tasty Cons: bad customer service more

Very sleek 11/8/2006

Stayed here with a group of girls for a bachelorette party and loved it. Sleek, neat and a perfect spot to hang out. Pros: Great place, Good bar Cons: Right next to Harrahs.. could be dangerous more

Atrocious service 1/1/2005

The staff was incompetent, slow, and rude. They forgot to clean the room twice in our week-long stay. When they did clean the room, they forgot something. One day no toilet paper, another day no washcloths. When we called for replacements they said "sure" and then never came with them. We checked in at midnight after a long day of travel. They gave us a nice room, but the heater was broken. Their solution was to keep us in the freezing room for 45 mins while we waited for maintenance. The guy could not fix it, so they told HIM to move us to another much smaller, cruddier room. We had to ask to merely be given the same type of room we were originally booked. This place is just awful. Stay here only if you are more interested in looking cool than in receiving competent service. Pros: bed, scene Cons: , service, service more

Happy Homecoming 12/28/2004

I lived in N.O. for 6 years, went back this Christmas with my fiance and 16-month-old son. When I booked the reservation I mentioned that I would be traveling with a toddler, and lo and behold there was a crib in the room when we walked in. I brought Baby Einstein videos with me, as Expedia said every room had a VCR. When mine had a DVD player instead, they happily had an engineer switch it out. Service: impeccable. Every request was satisfied, and a phone call followed to make sure of it. Only suggestion: a little more lighting in the rooms, please! (The rooms are definitely designed for more baby-making.) Let's find some dimmers, guys. Pros: Service, BEDS, Design more

Scary 11/29/2004

Considering this hotel came highly recommended to me, I was majorly disappointed when I arrived. The entire hotel screams ""shabby"" and not ""shabby chic"". It seemed like a tenament. The halls had worn out carpeting and wallpaper that was peeling. Halls and elevators smelled heavily from insectacide. The room was tiny and again shabby. The hardwood floors while shiny and well scrubbed just seem right and somehow made it seem dirty. The room was quite small with barely enough room for one person let alone two. The bathroom, however was nice but too bad the rest of the room wasn't as nice. For thirty dollars more, I found a room for the rest of my stay at a much nicer, larger and safer location. The lovely view of the brick wall I had also didn't help matters I only hope they were or are in the process of refurbishing. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: , Dingy more
