Lnc Tailor Shop

I get most of my dress clothes custom tailor made, which is great if you can afford to do so, since a custom made garment fitted just for you will fit much better than any off the rack clothing. I decided to give LNC tailor a try with a few pairs of pants and a cashmere blazer, so I purchased the fabric at discount prices from Tip Top fabrics in Greenpoint and brought it to LNC to see what they could do. \r \r First, the jacket. My particular jacket took nearly a month to make, during which I made several visits to the shop at various stages of construction. Throughout these visits I took note of the quality of construction of the garment, which was very high. The jacket was fully canvassed, meaning that the interlining was manually sewn to the fabric, rather than fused, which is essentially glued. While one might argue about the virtues of full canvas vs. fusing, there is no question that a fully canvasses construction takes considerably longer to do and is far more labor intensive. The shoulders are of the ""roped"" variety, also indicative of high quality construction. For an additional $50, I had him create working buttonholes on the sleeve as well. The amount of work required to create these buttonholes far exceeds the $50 it costs me to have them put in; again, the quality of workmanship here in relation to the price paid was very good.\r \r Throughout the process, I was able to tell the tailor exactly how I wanted the jacket to look. The tailor was extremely receptive to all my feedback, for example, the cut and silhouette of the jacket, the placement of the armholes, custom buttons (if desired), placement of buttons, length of sleeves and overall coat, etc etc. The end result was a garment that fit me superbly and was created in the manner I had requested. As I recall, the labor for this garment cost approximately $500. Depending on the quality of fabric you choose, a blazer might run upwards of $600-700, which is a fraction of the cost you might pay at a high end store such as Ralph Lauren or Barneys. Same style, better construction, and cheaper. if you are planning on spending more than $600 on a blazer of $800 for a suit, having it custom tailored for you at LNC is a no brainer. The quality and attention to detail exceeded all my expectations, and I have since gone back there to have several pairs of pants made, which were also of excellent quality. Highly recommended. I came here twice to get my jeans hemmed and taken-in at the legs... the owner was very helpful with his suggestions of what to do and how best to maintain the structure of the jeans... both times my jeans came out PERFECT!!! exactly what i wanted... he is definitely my new tailor! i trust him to make me look good Pros: great service, knowledgeable, inexpensive Cons: hard to find more

Very professional and very personable. These are people who clearly know what they are doing, and who take their jobs very seriously. Also, they could not be nicer! If you don't feel comfortable handing your garments over to any random tailor (or dry-cleaner), I highly suggest you go meet Mr. Hu and his crew at LNC Custom Tailor. I found this place on Citysearch because I needed a job done on a rather expensive suit, and LNC had the highest rating of any tailor in my area. I was not disappointed, and I don't think you will be either. Even if you don't care who your tailor is, you should go to LNC for price alone (another benefit). LNC does a wonderful job w/all of my alteration requests. Everything from my designer pants/jeans/dresses to vintage one-of-a-kind pieces, they get it exactly right! If they are unsure how I want a piece altered, they'll make sure w/me before cutting & snipping. They're the only tailors I trust! The difference between LNC & your neighborhood dry cleaners? LNC does custom tailoring. They can make a suit or a pair of dress pants from scratch, so any alterations you request is a piece of cake for them. I once brought an out-of-style long A-line skirt and asked them to make it into a stylish pencil skirt. No problem. They are experts! Highly detail-oriented--down to every stitch. Dress pants/skirt hem stitchings are all done by hand, not machine. The prices are very reasonable. Less than other places in town. I live close to a dry cleaner, but I travel just to bring my alterations to LNC. I know they will do a good job. I've been going to this tailor shop for years and they always deliver an A+++ job. I'm a petite gal and I need almost everything altered...from nipping, tucking and shortening my dresses (they worked on all my bridesmaid dresses)...to altering my suits and slacks...to hemming my jeans (I even trust them with my 7, Citizen and other premium jeans!). Here's a lil tip...for an extra charge, they can hem your jeans and re-attach the original hem...this way you don't lose the fading and styling. I absolutely love the results! It's a small mom & pop joint and the decor is very minimalist (really not fancy at all), but the tailor is very experienced and that's all that matters.
