I used to live in the area and took my daughter here. Don't necessary negate the other user who said the staff was not nice but all my experiences and observations have been very positive. They were always patient and caring with the children when I was there. more

Established in 1992, Little Shop of Plaster & Pottery brings to NYC a nice way to spend a quality time with friends or children while doing something creative. From painting a bowl to a figurine to a glass piece, there is a variety of crafts to do and all the time in the world to do it in. Unlike some places, there is no fee for painting time -- take as long as you want without the fear of having to shell out any extra bucks. I passed this place so many times and finally went in and I was very happy that I did. I’ve always enjoyed arts and crafts and since I was feeling lonely and empowered by a recent break-up, I had been spending a lot of time alone. This was a very nice way to spend a few hours, and what’s great is that they don’t charge you by the hour to paint! You can make your own or just paint already made pottery. Next time I’m going to try and make my own. The experience was calming, creative, and pleasant. The people were very nice and didn’t annoy me. Just beware that on weekends, a lot of kids go but they have adults only time after 6:30 pm. more

With at least a conversation piece. After looking at a few choices, this place seemed the most appealing because it did not charge for painting time. Some places charge a "nominal fee" per half or whole hour, which can start to add up if you become as involved in your projects as we did. (Our actual paint time would have added another additional $40 to our pottery tab.) It can be overwhelming on a weekend with the number of children and parties that are here - which would make that the perfect time to bring the young folks. However they do have adults only time after 6:30pm and often offer complimentary wine as well. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable. Overall this was a great time, my piece came out so good, that I may become a pottery painting regular. more
