Worst

My family and I have been going there for the past two decades. The service and food have become quite a disappointment over the years. It is not the same place that it once was. ...

Bad service, food wasn't right, and seating was crowded and cramped 8/29/2006

Moving here from PA i wanted to try different authentic TX restaurants, not corporate chains. After being taken to a few, the LRB was suggested one night and i happily said ""Let's Go""!!! as the other places i'd already been to ranged from MMM to MMM,MMM,MMM and i was hoping for the MMM,MMM,MMM,MMM,MMMMMMM...Didnt' happen. We waited for better than 45 minutes, the seating was cramped, the service left quite a bit to be desired, and the food wasn't cooked properly. And although everyone seems to think that a salad being ready to eat as soon as you're seated is a great thing, it fails in comparison to the negatives i experienced. I get the feeling that the LRB is running on fumes and it's name. Which means that there's hope they can get it back to what got it that name in the first place. But for now, i wouldn't reccomend it... more

A Good Steak 8/21/2006

Good Steaks, reasonable price, Waitresses wearing gunbelts. Oh, and they bring you your salad right as you sit down. Need I go on? I have never found them too busy where I had to wait for a table or my food. This one hits the spot pretty good. Pros: Ah, the Ribeye! Cons: They should make their own yeast rolls and serve them hot more

the old reliable little red barn 5/8/2006

I have had several occasions to eat at the Little Red Barn and I can't think of nay other restaurant where, as soon as you seat down your salad is all ready to be eaten. I like the fact that they make their own dressings and the garlic dressing is my favaorite. The service is great and the prices are not out of this world. Little Red Barn has a nice atmosphere and very friendly host and hostesses. I commend Ralph Hernandez owner of this icon. more

Group of 60 4/26/2006

On April 22, 2006, I hosted a dinner at the Little Red Barn for 60 friends. 50 had the ribeye steak, 5 had chicken fried steak and 5 had the grilled breast of chicken. I must compliment the Little Red Barn for the juiciness and the tenderness of the steaks, the chicken fried steaks and the breast of chickens were served nice and hot and very tasty. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the food, the service and the ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant for group parties. Pros: Tenderness of Steaks, Value, Quick Service more

Wonderful and Fun 4/20/2006

Wonderful service, Great atmosphere, and just to much fun. The food is the best steak for the money. I highly recomend the Greeen Goddess Dressing, and the Prime Rib. Pros: Great service, Large servings, Nice people Cons: n/a, n/a, n/a more

The Little Red Barn 4/8/2006

This place has to be the worse place I have ever eatting in. Not counting the U.S. Army. Pros: Cheep, Tea, Bread Cons: Food, Service, Reservations more

Great Steak for a Great Value 1/30/2006

The Little Red Barn Steakhouse is the best value in town to eat steak. The environment is casual and there is no need to dress to impress. The is a down to earth restaurant and the steak is wonderful. You don't have to take out a second mortgage to eat steak here. Plus you don't have to wait an hour for a table and you can expect to be seated immediately. Pros: Best value, quick service, downhome atmosphere more

A San Antonio Icon Hasbeen 1/9/2006

This place used to be one of the premier steakhouses in town. I don't know what happened. Ive been back a few times in the last 5 years hoping that it might have improved, but the last time was definatly the LAST time. The steaks were tough and tastless. I got the meduim sized club and I wondered what they served the small club on...a Fork?!!. They rush you in and sit you down so fast you don't have time to relax. It's really a shame. That used to be one resteraunt the south side could brag about. Don't waste your time or money. Pros: It's quick Cons: Bad steaks, high prices more

Talk about fast 11/7/2005

When you walk in and seated, you are served salad right then so you can immediately start eating, which is great if you are hungry. Your food comes out very quickly and tastes pretty good. I don't think I have ordered anything I didn't like. Prices are really good. PROS: Quickly served CONS: Cannot pay at the table more

Good Steak House 9/13/2005

Been in San Antonio for 42 years and is still the best place on a limited budget to get a steak! They are very friendly and don't skimp on the sides and all the fixins! PROS: Great Steak / great Price!! CONS: N/A more

It's Just OK For Steak. 8/11/2004

This resturant looks interesting from the outside and inside as well but that is where it stops. The salad and dressings are all but tasteless, The steaks sound great on the wall and the menu board but when you get them you are dissapointed with their over stated size and the quality. I will eat there once in a while but would not take out of town guest there. There are much better in our town. Pros: Decorations more

poor quality 3/7/2004

I have been to the reataurant several times because my friends wanted to go, not because I wanted to go. The service is fast but the food is tasteless and pressed. I noticed that they use weights to lay on the steaks while they are cooking which dries the steak totally, but cooks it quickly. I ordered prime rib one time and received a ribeye which they consider prime rib. The steak was salty and was totally unenjoyable. If you want a cheap steak and don't care about quality then this is the place to go. Pros: inexpensive, ample tables, quick Cons: , bathrooms more

OK - Could Be Better 1/23/2004

Quaint little place, wouldn't take my parents there, but the food was average, the beer was served in cans? Overall I would have to say that this is a place I probably wouldn't revisit. Pros: Good Service, Kid Friendly Cons: Canned Beer more

Cheap Steaks 8/7/2003

...as in quality. Sure the price is right, but mama always said, you get what you pay for. This quaint little San Antonio tradition is fun for non-discriminating out of town guests, but the quality of beef leaves a lot to be desired. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Beef Quality more

Yum! 2/4/2003

I'm from San Antonio and have lived off of Little Red Barn for 18 years. My whole life! Best steaks in the world! Can't get better than San Antonio for any food. Pros: Inexpensive, Food, Baked Potato Cons: nothing! more

Good Steak/Bad Steak 1/13/2003

I would never risk embarassment by bringing uninitiated associates to dine here. While a good steak can be had here. You can also get a bad one. I've had my share of both good and bad steaks. It's kind of like playing the lotto. If you're unlucky enough to wind up here on a bad steak day, just splurge on the huge baked potatos, which are always good. Pros: festive atmosphere, prompt seating, short skirted servers Cons: unpredictable quality, not necessarily cheap, short skirted servers more

Head 'em up...move 'em out! 1/9/2003

Texas dining the way it used to be. Walk through the door, and even on crowded nights you are seated right away....and with a salad as you are seated, eating right away. The atmosphere is corny fun, with menu prices painted on the walls along with the cattle brands of dozens of South Texas ranches. The steaks are prepared well, and are a great value. The service is prompt and courteous ( and those cowgirl waitress outfits are a hoot!). Not the place if you are looking for a culinary experience for your gourmand friends, but what a fun place to casually dine! ....especially great to take your friends visiting from out-of-state. Pros: Great atmosphere, Casual fun, Outstanding steaks Cons: Sketchy Neighborhood more

little red barn 12/5/2002

this is the best only behind chris ruth. there was nothing about this restraunt that i don't like. Pros: inexpensive more

Good Price, Never wait!!! 12/4/2002

Every once in a while I like to eat red meat, The Little Red Barn is the place I choose because no matter how crowded it looks, I never have to wait on line for a table, also, I like to be serve as soon as I take a seat and they do. The steaks are kind of tough some times; they need to improve a little on that. Pros: Price, Service, No Line Cons: Tough Steaks, Loud more
