I cant believe how many animals are at this zoo.

Editorial Review 10/28/2011

This zoo is very modest in comparison to the Brookfield Zoo but none the less a fun place for kids. The tree top canopy adventure and the farm in the zoo a reproduction of country side complete with chickens, cows, pigs, a huge tractor etc is popular with kids. more

My boy Adelor is the King!!!!!!! 11/12/2006

I love Lincoln Park Zoo, my favorite by far is Adelor, the King of LPZ he is one of the most adorable, awesome creatures I have ever seen. I fell in love with him the second I laid eyes on him. There are pictures os Adelor all over my house, I even bought a picture from the gift shop with his picture and paw prints on it! The people who work there are friendly and helpful, which is not so easy to find anymore. So, if your thinking about going for a visit..GO!!! you will have a great time, and tell my boy I'll see him soon!!!!! more

Even Bugs 5/27/2006

This zoo even has bugs on display. They have this one exhibit that is just roaches and I haven't been right ever since. It was absolutely disgusting and right next to it there was another exhibit for these large spiders that weren't contained. They looked pretty real to me, which makes you wonder how they are containing them. Scary but interesting. more

Nice zoo 5/24/2006

I have been here many times before. And each time I go, I seem to enjoy it more. Its a fun place to go with kids. The zoo has many animals and exhibits to see. Also, park is well kept and the tickets are pretty cheap. They have discount days and there are always special deals and such going on. The zoo is located in a nice area and located in a convenient area for everyone. more

For a Great Date Go: 5/19/2006

To the Zoo. It's free, makes you feel you're doing something worthwile (especially if you make a donation) and give you and your date plenty of opportunities to talk and things to talk about. Just don't go on a Saturday during the summer--you will not be able to move a foot without being run over by a stroller, a kid running around with no parents in sight, or people who just aren't courteous enough to watch where they are walking. Plenty of parking and also close to the lake--can you say picnic? more

Lincoln Park Zoo 5/3/2006

This zoo is a great place to come and relax when you're stressed about the fast-paced lifestyle that city living brings. The zoo is well maintained and you can tell they are doing the best they can with the space they've got. The gardens and flowerbeds are also very well taken care of. The best part is that it is free - just pay to park and you can spend the whole day just relaxing if you want. more

Wonderful Zoo 4/26/2006

This zoo is open all year round and there are always things to do here, whether it be snowing or it be a hot, sunny day. During the winter time, it is a pleasure to stroll around and see the ice laced trees and snowy areas and also to enjoy some of their indoor concerts. During the summer time, you can enjoy paddle boating in the lagoon or take strolls through the really green zoo. All year round, you can observe all the animals they have here. They always look well taken care of and very well groomed here. My kids always enjoy trips to the zoo, as do I. Oh, did I mention that you get all this for free? Yep, Lincoln Park Zoo is a blast and it is FREE! more

This is a nice place to bring the kids and introduce them to the animal kingdom. There is no entry free and the only fee you have to pay is for parking. They have afairly extensive collection of animals. They have special activities year around. Its fun to go and watch the seals and christmas lighting in december . more

Cozy up to the creatures 3/19/2006

This is another one of my special hang outs. If I'm feeling sad/happy/bad hair day/good hair day it doesn't matter, it always fills me with joy just to be among the animals. I think I missed my calling as Dr. Doolittle. I really enjoy the bird exhibit. I love watching them fly over my head (hey, what just plopped in my hair??) and to see them prance about the place like they own it or something. But my absolute fave part of this zoo would be the farm in the zoo with all the goats, cows, chickens and such. That area is surrounded by such beautiful scenery. You have to visit during the Holidays for their after hours Christmas spectacular. It's awesome. more

From antelopes to zebras 3/17/2006

Before I started writing this review I was trying to think of something bad I could say about this zoo, but the only thing I can tell you is the street parking can be very difficult. I recommend if you do street park, use one of the meters on Clark Street and bring a lot of quarters. They do have a parking lot which is about $10. Another thing I thought that might bother some of you creative folks is that the area is surrounded by a lot of yuppies who live around there and pay huge sums of money for their precious condo. Now, let's talk about the zoo itself. It's great. It's a free zoo, one of the only free zoos left in the U.S., located only blocks from Lake Shore Drive. They have a beautiful pond which offers a great view of the skyline of Chicago. There is a large variety of animals, from antelopes to zebras for you to look at, or are they actually looking at you?! more

Great Free Zoo 3/16/2006

When I first visited the Lincoln Park Zoo, I wasn't expecting much because it was free. I was pleasantly surprised. Lincoln Park Zoo is a great zoo with lots of great animal exhibits. My favorite is the polar bear exhibit, particularly the underground viewing. You get a really close look at the polar bears - my favorite animal! more

Free AND in Lincoln Park 3/8/2006

For the amount of space and budget, this zoo is definitely working hard to make the best environments for its animals. Lincoln Park Zoo is also one of the oldest zoological gardens in the country; it's been around since 1868. Avoid weekends during most of the summer unless you like small children, strollers, and parents who have no idea how to parent. But definitely take time to visit if you haven't already. Parking is available and food services are also located within the zoo. Or bring a picnic and have lunch at Lincoln Park and visit the lakefront if you have time. more

Come on in 3/8/2006

Lincoln Park Zoo is an easy recommendation if you are trying to figure out what to do with your spare time. The zoo is free to the public and houses everything from lizards to elephants. Perfect place for a relaxing walk or if you get up early enough then they open their gates before sun rise and you can take a jog through the grounds without being bothered. more

Who says the Zoo is just for kids? I used to study in the animal buildings (like the reptile house). It's a great place to change your perspective (being in the city can make you forget there's WILDLIFE. more

Lincoln Park Zoo 2/28/2006

If you're looking for a fun and free activity on a summer day, give the Lincoln Park Zoo a try. It's not a huge zoo, but it's pretty impressive considering that you don' t have to pay a penny to see lions, tigers, and bears. Although the Lincoln Park Zoo has been in the news for problems with animal care conditions, I think they're trying to work on cleaning up their image by taking better care of the animals. There's a lot to see here, so do plan on visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo the next time you're in Chicago. more

Zoo 2/20/2006

This is a wonderful zoo in the Chicago area. It brings back lots of childhood memories for me. Its very well taken care of and the great landscaping is as nice to see as are the numerous animals here. They have everything nicely set up and there's tons of great ways to learn new things, such as a guided tour. It is definitely a fun way to spend an entire day with the family. It is also really inexpensive. Try this place out in the summer and you will be sure to enjoy it no matter what age you are. more

Free Wild Animals! 2/7/2006

Although I wouldn't classify the Lincoln Park Zoo as the best zoo I've ever been to, let's face it; it's definitely the cheapest. That's right-- it won't cost you a penny to enjoy the polar bears happily lounging on rocks or the meerkats giving visitors a show. It's quite nicely done for what it is, and I have always enjoyed walking around. Design-wise, it's easy to find yourself backtracking to find your animal of choice, so be on the lookout for the zoo's attempt at signage. There's a food court and several vendors throughout the park, so you can find food without leaving the area. Just remember, don't feed the animals! more

You Get What You Pay For 12/30/2005

You get what you pay for, and Lincoln Park Zoo, which is free to enter, is a prime example of this. It is decent, but just decent, as far as zoos go. The animals don't seem particularly abused, but neither do they seem particularly settled within their enclosures -- or even happy. It is large, usually crowded and not really worth the trouble. Parking is always a problem, and the place seems dirty and in need of repair (graffitti, litter, etc). Not worth the trip! more
